Favorite Screen Pairing

Recommended Posts

Wow, such wonderful pairings already so I'll add a couple I didn't see.

Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr in An Affair to Remember and likewise the real life couple of Annette Bening and Warren Beatty in the remake, Love Affair

Mickey Rourke with Kim Bassinger and then soon to be GF Carrie Otis in 9 1/2 Weeks and the sequel Wild Orchid

Frank Sinatra and Shirley MacLaine in Can Can

Danny Kaye & Bing Crosby in White Christmas

Nicholas Cage and Laura Dern in Wild at Heart (in a psycho sort of way)

James Spader & Maggie Gyllenhal in Secretary

Yes, those are some good ones too, just thought of one more (well, actually 2)

The Postman Always Rings Twice

The original (1946) with John Garfield and Lana Turner

And the remake(1981) with Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange

I would definitely add Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn in The Africa Queen (1951) to my list of favorite screen pairings.

Zach Braff and Natalie Portman in Garden State. Its a cheesy little movie, but the chemistry between the two is just perfect.

Robert De Niro, Charles Grodin in Midnight Run

Funny movie, and Robert De Niro plays a good straight man to Charles Grodin's dry humour

Sir Alec Guinness and Mark Hamill in Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope (1977).

They seem to be a bit of a stretch. I would pick R2D2 and C3PO instead.

Clint Eastwood

and Eli Wallach

In the Good The Bad and The Ugly

I haven't forgotten Lee Van Cleef, just that, well if you get past the fact that Clint Eastwood's character Blondie, (aka The Good) and Eli Wallach's character Tuco (aka The Ugly) tried to kill each other, that movie also had elements of being a buddy film too

Lee Van Cleef's character, Angel Eyes (aka The Bad), well he wasn't a buddy LOL
