Something To Think About-Two Tough Questions

Recommended Posts

Question 1:-- If you knew a woman who was pregnant,

Who had 8 kids already,

Three who were deaf,

Two who were blind,

One mentally retarded,

And she had syphilis,

Would you recommend that she have an abortion?

Read the next question before looking at the response for this one.

--

Question 2:--

It is time to elect a new world leader, and only your vote counts..

Here are the facts about the three candidates.

--

Candidate A:--

Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with astrologists.

He's had two mistresses.

He also chain smokes

And drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day.

--

Candidate B:--

He was kicked out of office twice,

Sleeps until noon,

Used opium in college

And drinks a quart of whiskey every evening.

--

Candidate C:--

He is a decorated war hero,

He's a vegetarian,

Doesn't smoke,

Drinks an occasional beer

And never committed adultery.

Which of these candidates would be our choice?

Decide first ... No peeking, and then scroll down for the response.

Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Candidate B is Winston Churchill.

Candidate C is Adolph Hitler.

And, by the way, on your answer to the abortion question:

If you said YES, you just killed Beethoven.

Pretty interesting isn't it?

Makes a person think before judging someone.

Remember:

Amateurs ... Built the ark.

Professionals ... Built the Titanic

I don't think we can judge anyone until we walk a mile (or a couple of thousand) in their shoes so your point is well taken. Of course if you think Mr. Hitler was a nice guy then see Meet the Real Adolf Hitler!! :)

Heck, the only thing I think we have in common with this mental patient is that he had a number of mistresses and I guess we do to (but unlike his, ours are willing and enthusiastic participants, we never threaten them with death if they don't comply - at least I hope not) :)

And "decorated war hero"? Truth be told a draft dodger and a coward -- but I do get the non-judgemental point of your post and agree completely with that aspect of it!

Well, you can do anything with some well-chosen facts (example: Hitler became vegetarian later in life due to gastric problems, rather than for any moral or philosophical reason) and some outright falsehoods (Ludwig was his mother's third child, so quite how we're supposed to make judgements based on children who haven't been born yet isn't clear).

Nice post RG. It just shows you that until all the facts are in front of you, you can't really form a reasonable response. It is the balance of what one does with their life that matters in the end. All of us have attributes and weaknesses and to judge one solely on one category or the other would be, as your questions point out, dangerous. Something to think about for sure....by the way when I contact cerb ladies I let them know that I am strong, gentle and well read ... and leave out the pigeon toes, balding, knock-needed, buck-toothed part of me. :)

I voted for Roosevelt, but killed Beethoven!

I could not fully trust someone who was so straight-laced as to not have ever committed adultery, tried smoking or enjoyed a juicy steak! And apparently for good reason.

Truth be told, it would make me nervous; just being around anyone who hasn't walked on the wild side of life, never mind voting for them. Even though I am not the biggest fan of the daily consumption of alcohol, everyone should try something that is so-called 'bad' for them, at least once.

Who doesn't do drugs in college, anyway?

Hitler, apparently.

Kudos, RG

p.s. glad you are still here

RG's quiz proves 3 things.... people can only be seen and judged a certain way by outward appearances only, no one is perfect and everyone has their demons, a past, dysfunction and guilt that haunts them.
