No.......this is something we all have come across......yes..we all have found it.....or should I say have found lack of it!.... confused yet?...good.....let me explain. Snackmosphere.....this is the air or the space where the product you pay for is not there...... Example...buy a bag of chips..look at it...looks full?........ Now open it..and look inside.....mmmmm.....looks good.? it is only half full if we are lucky........the rest of what was in the bag was snackmosphere......the air put in packaging to make it look full..when in fact it is not. Don't tell me the chips are packed with air to protect them....bug off......have we ever been given a bag of chips without air?...NO...so how are we to tell the differance? What brought me today on this was not a bag of chips...but a newly purchased jar of peanut butter.......you know the nice expensive Kraft brand that is so full of chemicals and fat....but tastes soooo good.... Have you ever looked that when you open it the actual peanut butter is about 1" or more lower than the top...........they hide that fact by making the lid have a large edge to cover the fact they have added snackmosphere in the top...and robbed us of product. I cook....so I bout a box of bread crumbs......the freaking thing was half full.....Snackmosphere!!!!!!! Boxes of Smarties.........again half full........ OK I know this is alot of junk.....I like junk....I live for junk.....my body hates me...but ^&^- it!....... So what do other people think? What products have you seen like this? List them...we can band together and change this!!...We can.....!!!.... I had a few pics when I was very young (8-9) and I was eating a cheese burger, cuz I could NOT open my mouth enough for a big mac ! my fater was eating one... So that got me thinking, I used some measurments off the pic, and compared it to my Dad's fingers, which are about the same size as the pic... then went to McD and bought a BM !!! guess what it's 20-35% smaller !!! but costs like 2.5 times as much... now thats marketing !! same name, smaller format bigger price=BIGGER PROFITS and hungry folks who wonder why they are hungrier then they were before after a BM !!! Or sometimes they make the bag bigger to give you the illusion you're actually getting more. There is a conspiracy, I tell you. Toilet tissue does not last as long as it used to and I am not going to the loo any more often. You have to buy "double rolls" to get the same mileage you used to out of "single rolls". My grandmother told me that originally the Lowney's Cherry Blossom chocolate bar, was in a box that was a perfect square shape. Slowly over time, same box has shrunk down to a more rectangular looking thing. Finally, when you buy "whipped" butter or cream cheese, these products are more spreadable but pumped up with air, but at the same price. Whoever thought of that, was a genius. But like you, I don't like anyone messing with my snack foods, but the question remains Homer, what can we do about it? It's not too bad here in Barrie (but I still prefer bottled water) I can imagine bottled water is very popular in Ottawa. I remember on my last visit to Ottawa I was thirsty at like 4am so I tried the tap water (EWE! - It was BAD) so I headed for the vending machine (they only had dasani water - and I actually do not like that either but still better then the tap water!!) ... the vending machine in the hotel ate my only toonie so I had to go back to trying to drink the tap water ... it was unbearable! I let it run for a good 10 minutes and it was still GROSS but it was cold enough by than it was tolerable. Maybe it was old pipes as the hotel was an old apartment building turned into hotel suites but it was nasty water! P.S. The air in chip bags is in fact put their to keep the chips from crushing and most companies use nitrogen (This also helps to keep the chips fresh tasting). I once (about ten years ago) getting a McD BM, fries, large coke, (hot day, on the road) tasted the coke they handed me. Could barely taste any coke, looked for sign of coke color, could barely see any. The place was packed and I was in a (enough with the ripofs) mood. I asked for another with coke in it (politely, but firmly). The girl (with a oh oh wierdo expression) filled another, the same. I repeated my request for some color in my coke. This time a super/manager saw the "commotion" at the counter and asked me "what is the problem sir". (a dozen customers around me went silent) I said I ordered coke not ice ! ...that is our usual...keep your drink...give me money back...etc. The looks on the faces was priceless. I'm thinking, holy fuck, I am disrupting the order of the universe here, sheep are here to be fleeced, but I am not a sheep ! A little louder and I will be in hand cuffs. So I buy burgers only (no McD, no drink, no fries), and get the "real thing" at a corner store. Yes I know, I'm a rebel :shock: with many causes. I drink my coffee black......I hate crap in my coffee....but if I go in and order 2 coffees.....one for me black.....and one for my friend..double double......guess what? They both come with his full and mine an inch down.... They have filled them both the same amount....and then add the double double to his...which brings it full...leaving mine....still an inch down from the lid. I guess they figure I will be adding my own stuff to the coffee when I get it...WRONG!!!!! So when I order I always say "black coffee....filled to the top"..........they look at meand go cross eyed..........then they pour it and hand it over...and I see it 1 "down from the top....not the 1-1/2" they usually do......so back it goes......to the top please......now the other people behind the counter crosss thier eyes..... Hell if I go through drive through...I will stay..open the coffee....and pass it back......... EXCUSE ME!!!!...for wanting all of my coffee I paid for!!!!!! Take Coke and its replacement of cane sugar with high-fructose corn syrup (they did this quite a while ago). It took a trip to the Philippines for me to re-discover coke with cane sugar in glass bottles. I hear you can get coke with cane sugar that has been imported from Mexico but that it costs quite a premium. This however could be myth I have never bothered to look it up myself but for sure it is not spring water. I was told that they use osmosis to purify it and then add minerals to it so that it always tastes the exact same (So that it does not alter the taste of the coke product). Timmies actually puts the cream and sugar in first and then fills the cup. So they are intentionally shorting you. Also when I got to Second Cup or Starbucks or the like I have to specifically ask them to leave room for milk. If I don't they fill it right up to the rim. It's you ...... LOL I hate when I buy a fountain drink and it's 66.66666% ice. I try to remember to ask them to go easy on the ice. Or if I'm on the way home with it, no ice. I can add my own ice and have more pop that way. I'm really a cheap fuck aren't I? If the ice bugs you and you like root beer, here's a tip: A&W does not put ice in their fountain root beer. And if you haven't tried them lately they make some pretty good burgers too. One more thing about pop ..... McD has any size drink for a buck so make sure you order a large until that offer ends. Most people who drink black coffee....are not overly fond or addicted to Tim's.....it is not a great coffee......it is the mixture they make youget used to. So here is how it works. Tim's pre adds thier milk....cream...sugar.....by the way of a machine. the machine is set to small medium and large cups......it is not set to a certain single button dose of the product being added to the coffee. Example...the serve yourself coffee mixers are usually cartons of milk/cream and packages of suger...or packages of sugar and little "creamers" for your use to lighten the coffee.... so you add what you like and what you are used to. now if you order a meduim coffee double double from Tim's you get a dose of cream and sugar measured for a medium cup......if you order a large double double...it is a different amount of sugar or milk that is added...it is not the same amount of sugar or milk that is added to a medium. if you order a large double double it is actually a large with 2.5 & 2.5 cream and sugar.....where as if you mixed it your self you would only add double double as habit..no matter what size you took. So what is happening is you are getting a more consistant mixture......nice yes....but it is not the coffe you are really enjoying...it is the mixture you get each time.......the balance of the flavour you like..... where people who drink coffe black...go for the taste of the coffee not the taste of the mixture... is every one confused now?
