New and confused - What is a POST and how do I make 5 of them??

Recommended Posts

I just joined this forum and somewhat confused, what constitutes a post? Is there a difference with communication with other members or posting a new "thread" as I am now and this 5 days 5 posts, do I have to do 5 new threads? I'm genuinely interested in participating and interacting in this forum and want to start off on the right foot.

What you just did is a POST... you started a NEW THREAD by clicking the "Start new thread icon"...

Alternatively you can post a comment on a existing thread by clicking the "Reply Publicly to this thread" icon...

Both of these things would be considered a post.

Replying to any of the threads will do.

I would also suggest that you go to the Rules and FAQ pull down on the top of the page and take some time to read the various entries there and you won't be confused for very long.

Take your time getting going and I'm sure you'll do fine.

A VERY LARGE portion of the internet is comment/discussion forum based this days. (Facebook even has comment threads and posts)...

Unless these are NEW computer users I can't imagine the idea of posts and threads being so foreign... but if you just take some time to read and explore the site it's not all that complicated. Just take some time and explore, if you get stuck as in here and the other members and I will help if we can.

I remember being initially confused as to what counts as a post and what doesn't when I first started participating.

One thing to clarify is that leaving a comment on someone's wall (on their profile), private messages, commenting on a picture, or commenting in a social group do not count as a post.

Basically, you have to leave a comment here in a forum subject. As MOD says, if you click "reply to this thread" you know you're posting. :)

I'm in the same boat, this is so weird and new to me.

AWW, please don't feel weird, this is a great and discreet place to discuss, reply and view all kinds of people. Most here are non-judgemental, accepting and welcoming to new members and want you to feel comfortable and part of this community. If you view profiles your handle will appear on that persons profile, they may choose to leave a thank you for visitng message on your wall/profile page. If you choose to leave a comment on someone's page keep in mind that comment will be visible to all who visit that profile. If you want to send a message to anyone that you only want for your eyes and theirs send it by a pm. If you want to comment on a thread just hit the reply button. Or if you just want to thank someone for their comment hit the thanks button. It takes a bit to get used to it, when I joined I made mistakes but its through those that you learn. If you have any questions just ask, or post a thread for multiple responses. The main thing is for you to enjoy and feel like you belong, those are my wishes for you:)

I have just joined this site and it sure is overwhelming as to starting a new post. It sure would help if there was a HUGE button right on the main screen which said ...Posts.

Maybe the terminology (post/thread) is the issue?

I adjusted the NAG screen for new members to specifically say Posts or Threads (not comments) and they now need to post 1 post to remove the NAG screen and still 5 posts to open the recs and other features

I'm not only new to CERB, but a newbie hobbyist as well. NOT new to computers, but I haven't spent much time on social media so yes, the whole threads/posts thing can be confusing! Also, I have to say that I happened on this while planning a trip to Canada - I'm from the US - and your laws and attitudes toward the escort industry are a refreshing change from those here!

I just found out I had been a member for 504 days!

Ah well...yes I will post. I don't know about 5 of them....

Just wondering where to get an R&T massage in Halifax. In Toronto and elsewhere it is easy- I don't know where to go here. Can anyone suggest?

Thanks for the info, I also had assumed that commenting on pictures would count as a post.
