Ottawa Hobbiests: How Likely Are You to Cross the Bridge to see an SP

Recommended Posts

The attractive thing about Hull is that rents are cheaper. However, there are some people from Ottawa who never go over to the Quebec side and when and if they do consider it a complicated maze to get around.

Being from Ottawa, how likely would you be to cross the bridge to visit an SP, even if her location was a short distance within Hull and easy to find?

Thanks for your feedback.

speaking as a long time local, there are some parts of town i simply wouldn't go to to visit a SP, MA, et al. Call it a stigma, stereotype or what have you, but thems the breaks.

Here's the thing, there are some really nice places in Hull or Gatineau. IN fact there are alot of clients that work in Ottawa that live on the quebec side that we have found that enjoy the fact it is easier access there for them.

The only issue you might have is that there seems to be a bit of a price difference, alot of ladies on the quebec side have lower rates. This is slowly changing however.

We do use some hotels closer to the casino and many clients dont mind going there, it comes down to being able to find their way around.

Thanks Jason. Yes, I would imagine that being able to find the location easy is important. I think some people from Ottawa have this mental block about "over there" and have a hard time figuring out where certain streets are.

I suppose familiarity with the Casino does help.

Thanks for your input.

For incall location, I would prefer not to cross the bridge. Getting a Gatineau parking ticket is never going to be part of the plan. But having Ottawa Lic. We could be a prime target.

Not as familiar with the roads and streets is another issue, not show stopper, but inconvinence.

But if it is a hotel incall location, many nice hotels across the river and no problems with that.

Eww, Quebec? Never! ;)

Seriously, it does effect my decision...I don't even like going downtown and there have been a few girls that I wanted to see that do incalls only in Gatineau and I usually find another option instead. But I'm a creature of convenience and I live in the deep south of Ottawa, so going all that way is like work for me.

Actually, it's kinda funny you ask, another question would be "would you people from the Quebec side prefer having sp's in gatineau/hull"

I am sure the answer would be as varied, but likely you would find many would. It always nicer to be "home" so to speak.

I, for one, prefer a clean and safe place anyday whatever side of the river it's on, and if the rent is cheaper, then well, the lady does not have to work as much to pay her overhead, therefore is not under as much pressure to make ends meet. I think that makes for better get togethers...

I visit the gatineau side. If I want the Sp I will go where ever I have to.. It does not take me anymore to go to gatineau than it does to orleans from the West end of Ottawa. However, I have not seen many girls have that location.

I'm on the Gatineau side and basically for me, it's the desire to see a specific SP that determines where I go. Last weekend I ended up in Ottawa South and in Nepean. I even went to Rockland once. We all have cars and Mapquest or GPS so no problem. I don't particularly enjoy downtown as parking is a pain. Of course if the SP is closer, that's a plus.

It's really one big city with a river in the middle...everything else is personal hangups that people just need to get over.

this from an anglophone Quebecer

Many of us have been across the river to MPs so no biggie for me, I've done it many times. I prefer to stay on the Ottawa side purely due to convenience and if all else is equal will stay on the ON side. But if there is someone I REALLY want to see and she is in hull, then so am I!

Being a relatively new transplant to the area (which by the way, I am outside of Ottawa), I don't know the Hull side at all. In fact, I haven't been there at all in my life. So I would say that I would probably not go. I guess it would depend if I really wanted to see the person or not. I generally am the last minute, late at night, make the call to see if I can get an appointment within the hour type hobbiest. Unfotunately this is the way I have to do it, so going in to an unkown area late at night is definitely a deciding factor for me. With so many excellent SP's in Ottawa, in areas that I have come to know, chances are I would see if any one of them were available before going to the Quebec side. I also feel a little uncomfortable going into Quebec as I am not bilingual.

Yes close to home is a major bonus! Makes the drive home soo much easier especially if the Provider (SP or MP) has "drained" you!

I still keep hoping for a lady that can "beam" me home afterwards Star Trek style or with a wiggle of her nose > Bewitched style!

The same building would be ideal!

Avoiding crossing the bridges at rush hour is a definite! And yes (real or imagined?) something about the QPP and Ontario plates!

I like crossing the bridge to see a girl, I like it over there. I feel more anonymous and far away from my life here in Ottawa.

I am not sure of your personal circumstances so my comments may not have impact on your decision.

I grew up in Hull so I consider this to be all one big city. Now living in Ottawa I have no issues with crossing the border.

Couple of differences I have found are health care and income taxes. My Ontario doctor no longer accepts Quebec residents because of what Quebec will or won't pay. A relative of mine was recently hospitalized in Gatineau and the experience left something to be desired, hell he had to provide his own Kleenex and pens to fill out forms, WTF is with that.

When living in Quebec, I always paid extra income taxes. Being curious, last year I picked-up income tax forms for both provinces to find out the difference. I was disturbed to find that for my SO and I, the difference in tax rates between Ontario and Quebec was equivalent to our annual mortgage payments. My house in Ontario may be more expensive, but I would rather build up my equity than give it to the government.

Every once in a while the Citizen does a comparison between Gatineau and Ottawa. Last time, if you had young children, Gatineau was the better deal. If not, Ottawa was better.

Yes, rents are generally cheaper and clients are willing to travel. All I suggest is that there is more in life than just rent.

convenience is certainly a factor but there are a few SP's in the Quebec region that I plan to visit because of who they are not where!

as well as some very lovely women in the outer ottawa regions that require my attention.

for me it is a matter of time.

I have too little of it to spend.

I have crossed the bridge a few times to either see a sp or mp, but I prefer to stay on this side of the river if possible, sometimes finding a place on the quebec side can be like finding a needle in a hay stack.

I agree. This would not to actually live there, just have an in-call location to work out of.

I am more inclined to stay on the Ottawa side, but was just considering that as an option because another SP who is not from this area was thinking of setting up shop here.

I think the whole area has changed, the area is completely bilingual now and I dont really find gatineau to be much more french than Orleans.

I have ontario plates and drive in quebec everyday and never get pulled over.. Unless I am speeding of course (heavy foot I'm afraid).

Alot of clients have mentioned that they actually felt safer in quebec as they seem to be a bit more tolerant to this type of industry.

I have seen the occasional SP in Gatineau/Hull, but I prefer to do business on the Ont side simply cuz it's closer. Also risks of stings/robbery more manageable if in my home prov (that's probably just a delusion - but I like it). I somehow always feel like I'm leaving Canada when I venture over to the other side. I hope my opinion doesn't spawn a wild debate over whether Quebec is part of Canada. Just wanted to add that I feel that the Que powers of darkness are out to get Ont visitors.

With so many great providers close to home, it does matter how far I have to travel to see a lady. Especially in the winter, between driving within 15 minutes vs 30 minutes...... I was and still am interested in a few SPs west of Ottawa, CP/SF , but travelling time makes it hard to just get up and go. It's almost like planning a day trip.

Another point, rent is cheaper in Hull for different reasons, just like rent varies in Ottawa. There are some areas in Ottawa I would not park my car and walk a block at night. An that applies to both sides of the river. Cheaper rent in general means less maintainence, and possibily other undesirible factors.

If the location in Hull/Gatineau is nice, clean and safe. I would consider if the lady is a friend.

It's not just a feeling, it's the truth. I once parked at a meter in Hull, must be no more than 30 seconds late because as I was running to my car, I saw the parking enforcement just started to flip his book. He saw me running, but did not stop. The worst part is that when he handed me the ticket, I looked at the car behind mine, meter has also expired, QC plate. He didn't even give it a ticket. I almost wanted to argue with him, but why get someone else a ticket. I just signed and watch him leave.

Just wanted to add that I feel that the Que powers of darkness are out to get Ont visitors.

Question on the different laws that might apply. Are the laws different across the river. Stripclubs regulations are different!! How about escort laws??
