83-year-old man among four arrested in Winnipeg prostitution sting

All those who say the police don't have resources for enforcing C36 take note.

A lot of resources were involved in this operation, for four trivial offences.

Cops can cough up plenty of resources when it suits them.

Cops always do street sweeps. This is nothing different. Even though it was only 4 people arrested, it gives them a chance to nab a few people all at once. They will go for the easiest targets.

Now if they started going around regularily like the vice units do in the U.S. to ladies who work indoors or setting up stings in hotels then that means they are really cracking down. This would cost a lot more time and money.

Nobody ever denied that the cops would do this. This was obviously a sting set up for under age girls working on the streets and the men that are cruising the back alleys, so to speak. This is something that is done regularly and will still be going on when C36 comes in. Yes, they have resources for this. And again, this is in a more major city where local LE do have more manpower. Any of my comments that I have posted regarding this has more to do with LE in smaller places and with the notion that they will target a single reputable SP residence and try to nab each guy one at a time or that they will somehow sit and monitor emails and texts looking for that one needle in the haystack. I don't see them devoting as much effort into the scenarios I just mentioned is all I've stated.

It will be even easier than that. Cops put up a fake ad for an escort. Set up appts every 30 mins for the day, then arrest each guy that shows up. Just like on 20/20 in the states. Nothing could be easier.

There are dozens of stories regarding what LE could be doing instead of rustling up the clients of street workers. Lots of people are being charged with running underage sps, coercion, etc, and all seem to be happening since the SCC decision.

it's like they suddenly realized, oh gee, here's some stuff we could actually be doing instead of trying to arrest street workers and their clients. It's astonishing how many people were arrested in the Toronto area in June alone.

if the clients were seeing sps that were underage, great, but my guess is that they weren't. They say 'prostitution related' charges, but all they really mean is 'talking to an sp in public". The other term? Makes it look much more sordid and predatory.

Or they could go to BP and set up fake appts with some of the ads that say "No black men". We all know why they say that in the ad and it isn't because the SP herself is a racist.

They visited 26 addresses. Hardly a typical street sweep.

That was looking for the underage street kids. Visited 26 places, found 3 underage kids. And at no time did they say these kids were sex workers, or that the 4 guys were looking for or expecting underage sps. But the headline and storyline are trying to link the two things together, two things that are not related..

I do believe the charges were communicating for the purpose.

Note all four guys had their cars seized. So even if they get a $200 misdemeanor fine they may still be out the cost of their car. Even if it is returned they can get hit with towing charges and storage.

Lesson here is if you are soliciting SWs never ever do it in a car.
