Blitz01 500 Report post Posted February 27, 2015 I agree that snowboarder's use of the word coloured is a bit bold and off putting...but it might not be ment as disrespectful, I have several friend of to use the PC term African descent... However they dislike that term or other terms to discribe their ethnicity. They infact prefer the term coloured. It maybe that snowbounder has friends that prefer the same term. However yes it is a bold use of a term that can be misconstrued and should not be Used outside of a social group where you know it to be their preference. I don't believe their was any ill will or disrespect meant by the OP. Everyone has a personal reaction to words based on their experiences and with political correctness insinuating itself into every fiber of society, tolerance is more of an issue than anything else. What one doesn't like, someone else doesn't mind. It is very difficult to find a word sometimes that doesn't offend someone. A defensive approach usually does more harm than good. I found this statement to be offensive, i do however believe everyone makes mistakes, instead of tearing this guy up and making him feel like shit about his post, just accept his apology and move on. I have to agree with Midnight & cristycurves on this one. I think its important to give people the benefit of the doubt. If its really necessary then its probably better to inform someone than chastise them. Unless we're angry in our hearts and need to seize these times as opportunity to lash out I really don't see the point of assuming the worst in someone. Yes he may have chosen his words poorly , he's apologized and enough is enough. Endless personal attacking is not productive nor should be tolerated . Touchy subject for me as I've been on that end of it myself and it sucks. One other thing...thank you Tracie for your support for this guy but to say that Christy was supportive is certainly not what I read.
