Common Myths and Misconceptions About SPs

Recommended Posts

Nicolette and I were just talking to another (younger) SP and we were commenting on some of the misconceptions about SPs we have heard over in the years.

Here were a few we came up with. Here's what we believe - that some of these may in fact be true - some of the time, but not all of the time.

- Women who have had children are not as tight down there as those who haven't.

- If you're an SP and you have an SO, it means he or she doesn't really love you and/or he must be forcing you to work or they're a cuckhold.

- You can tell a drug user by the neighbourhood she lives in.

- If you're an SP in her early 20s, it must mean you can be easily manipulated by clients or you are the one manipulating clients.

- Agency girls don't allow 2 shots on goal in an hour. In fact, most agency girls never stay the full hour because of the agency cut.

- Only Independent girls give you the full time.

- Just because you're "mature" in age, doesn't make you mature.

- An SP can get all of her sexual needs met by clients.

- Most SPs fake orgasms.

- Most SPs lie about their real age and weight.

- There are SPs who will eventually offer BBFs to favourite clients - it happens more often than you think.

- SPs are sex addicts.

- SPs do it just for the money.

WHAT DO YOU THINK and why?

I think that's a great list of points! Not all SPs have addiction issues. And you can't accurately guage a lady based on her work locale. And just because an SP is young or has a SO does not maker her victim of manipulation. And most SPs don't manipulate clients. These are excellent points, and I am honestly surprised that such myths and misnomers are still perpetuated.

The problem is that many myths are based on a very small sample of the population. No doubt, there are some that fit into many of the categories, but there are likely many more that do not and these are just sterotypes.

That said, the age factor sometimes makes me laugh, especially when you have been around for more than a year and the same ladies never change their age. I guess that they just stopped counting. This just gives many a bad rap based on one or two people.

I grinned! Those are great! Definitely things I may have thought at some point in my life (but don't now).

Can I add one?

Myth

- SP's are getting rich doing this.

Also that we all do drugs and love the booze...and don't forget we must hate men and we were molested or raped...{never did understand that one} oh yes and we all work late hours...

Guest f***2f***

It's really tough to generalize like this....I think that some of them are true of some SPs but definitely not all.

I've met SPs who do it just for the money and they don't stick around very long...having said that none of them are giving it away so at some level the money factor talks

I've met SPs who are sex addicts and they don't usually stick around very long either...the last one I knew found a steady guy who was open to her having other partners.

SPs with an SO...most are just as committed to their partner as any other person in my experience...it's just a really open relationship.

Some of the others are laughable myths....the manipulation thing happens at all ages and stages to some but definately not all.

As someone who is totally out about being an escort, I get a lot of BS--you'd be surprised what people actually think.

I'm going to add the following myths/misconceptions:

--if we are paid to have sex, we'll sleep with anyone who has the money

--we must be slutty in our personal lives as well

--bad childhoods/damaged

--it's not real work

--had no other options/uneducated

--don't practice safe sex

--our clients are all socially inept losers who couldn't laid otherwise

One I get a lot! It's an inherently unsafe job...

Most of the people I come out to.. that's their first concern. That they worry that I'm in danger on a daily basis.

I can't believe I forgot that one, that one actually pisses me off the most.

For reasons which this blog entry explains beautifully:

I get that also. Only two people in my personal life (family members) know 100% what I do and always worry if I will come or make it home.
