To Choose Only a Certain Part of a Picture to Upload:
This is also called "Cropping"
Download the free Image Viewer "IrfanView" from:
http://www.irfanview.com/
Install IrfanView, and open the program.
Click on "File - Open" to locate and open the image file you want to resize, or "crop". The image file should now be displayed on your screen.
Click and drag your cursor to make a square or rectangular "frame" over the part of the picture you want to keep. The rest of the picture, we will discard in a minute.
If you dont get it right the first time, don't worry, you can easily change this.
- Either right click inside this new "frame" and drag it around until it is over the part of the picture you want to keep, or
- Hover the cursor arrow over one of the frame borders, until it changes to a vertical or horizontal double arrow, then click and drag this border to the desired size.
- Or just click somewhere else on the picture, the frame disappears, and you can start again.
Next, click on "Edit - Crop selection" and the part of the picture you selected, will be the only part left visible.
Click on "File - Save as" then choose a new name for the "cropped" image file. You can also choose different options like the type of image file, i.e. JPG, PNG, GIF, etc, and the different compression options that go with each file type. Once you click OK, your newly "cropped" file will be saved in the place and format you chose.
For most purposes, JPG or PNG will work best on websites, and you can use the default choices for saving.
