Ottawa now has a ESCORT and a MASSAGE announcements section. Ladies please choose ONE or the OTHER to post ads in. If you offer FS then please use the "ESCORT / COURTESAN" forum and if you only provide massage or NON FS services please use the "MASSAGE / NON FS" section. I have moved all the previous posts to a ARCHIVED folder and closed that folder. Same rules apply (1 post per 12 hour period) and please ONLY post in either the NON or the FS - NOT BOTH If you offer both services (as many do) then you would post in the FS section (Not the massage section)

Wasn't the California energy crisis all about the disastrous consequences of letting private industry run the production and sale of energy? They had people shutting down power plants for "maintenance" in order to reduce the supply of energy, jack up the price accordingly, and reap astronomical profits from the public who had nowhere else to buy power. And that's just the first example that comes to mind. Then there's privatization of the water supply in Bolivia... Private industry can possibly do a better job than government with utilities, but only if there's competition. With a monopoly, you just create another California. And how to ensure there's no monopoly, or simple collusion between profit-oriented corporations? I'd rather have the government running utilities inefficiently, than monopolies running them to maximize profit. I don't have figures handy, but I seem to recall that the Canadian healthcare system is cheaper and more efficient than the American one. That probably depends how we frame the question and measure efficiency/cheapness, though -- I'm not sure offhand. Somewhat true. A nation of slaveowners might achieve great economic output but not necessarily a good overall standard of living, right? So the one doesn't automatically lead to the other, but I agree it's a necessary precondition. But... I don't think anyone has disputed this, right? Is anyone here advocating less industry, production, or national prosperity? I thought Loopie took a pretty good stab at the answer. Definitions of "socialism" (like "capitalism") vary, but nothing about capitalism is antithetical to socialism. Socialism as a political philosophy ("we should all contribute somewhat to our collective interests") works perfectly well with capitalism as I defined it earlier in the thread. Capitalism is about how a society generates wealth. Socialism is about how a society employs that wealth. I'll be honest though, I'm approaching the limit of how deeply I want to pursue this issue on CERB. It's fun and rewarding to throw ideas out there, but it's not something we're all likely to agree on in the end. We could waste a lot of letters without coming close to a resolution. :) Thanks to everyone for their contributions -- it's been interesting.

I think the best society is the one that invests in itself and provides the most opportunities for its members to make a future contribution. When opportunities to gain knowledge and training are restricted to a small elite, then only that small elite stands a chance at contributing ideas that will lead to future progress. In the long term I feel this limits the potential of the society because groundbreaking ideas can come from any mind regardless of what family they happen to be born into. The best way to ensure that people have those opportunities to contribute is for the state to provide stability to people as they make their way through life. When people don't have to worry about violent unpredictable fluctations in the price of things such as water, food, rent, electricity, medical attention etc they can focus better on developing the ideas that will improve quality of life and make their society stronger. The only way I know of to avoid violent price fluctuations is through state control, either direct state ownership of key sectors or heavy state regulation. I thank you for your interest and for your sarcastic eyeroll.

In the announcements areas we are trying a new feature This feature will put a photo thumbnail in the thread view page if you include a IMG in your post. It uses the FIRST image you include in your ad and makes a thumbnail using it. For instance if I did this you can now see a small 50x50 thumbnail would show in the forum display page http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=280 (Click Link to see) Note: This will not work in the mobile version unless you are using the lower bandwidth ipad system. This however may greatly increase bandwidth for people using the ipad system so I may need to remove this. We can see how it goes first.

The council has voted on a few peoples memberships who we feel are responsible for most of the problems over the last year. Some members have made the site hostile and unwelcoming and we believe we have identified these individuals and we are asking some to leave and giving others a vacation. This letter will be sent to those individuals and posted here for all to review. Dear Member. We wish to be absolutely clear about what the board will no longer tolerate. Unacceptable behaviour includes, but is not limited to: The use of hostile and inflammatory language; Trying to goad other members, and "push other member's buttons"; Being quick to take offence and quick to point out that you are so offended and to scold people for it; Twisting the words of others in the least charitable way so as to imply that they have ill intent or dishonest motives; Twisting the words of others so as to misrepresent them, in order to artificially set them up as targets for scoring your own political points; Attempting to shout down the opinions of others, and attempting to bully them into silence by ganging-up with other members in concerted tactics of intimidation ("piling-on"); Making personal remarks about others that belittles them - including such things as accusing them of being "passive-aggressive", "acting like a four-year old", "after what you've said no lady will see you now", "you don't belong on Cerb", etc. Rejecting someone's apology after they've made a mistake, because it is deemed to be somehow insincere Council is not saying that you yourself have engaged in all these behaviours, but you have engaged in a number of them. These are examples of the specific types of hostile and unfriendly behaviour that cannot be allowed to continue, because it is driving good members of the board away and hurting everyone's business. Please notice that we are not discouraging you or anyone from freely sharing their opinions on the board - but members must accept that not everyone will share their own opinions, and that other members and their opinions must be respected and treated with the same friendliness and toleration with which you expect yourself and your own opinions to be treated. There's plenty of room for constructive debate and discussion while keeping within these guidelines The issue of these counterproductive patterns of behaviour by several members has recently reached a tipping point of vocal discontent among other members. This has prompted us to now understand that it would have been preferable for the board to have acted earlier. However, we cannot turn back the clock on this oversight. The best the board can do is take this action now, even though it would better have been dealt with at the time that your offences occurred. We apologize about the late timing of these sanctions. (IF THE MEMBER WAS SUSPENDED AND NOT BANNED THIS WOULD FOLLOW) We look forward to your return to the board after your suspension has been served. We believe you can continue to make valuable contributions to the Cerb community at that time, while also adhering to the requirements of the board as explained above. (IF THE MEMBER WAS BANNED THIS WOULD FOLLOW) We are sorry but at this time we must ask you not to return to cerb. Your membership here has been terminated and by vote from the council it has been decided that you are no longer welcome as a member in our community.

Many of us are on the same track and feeling this way in the forum, but I don't don't it's a coincidence. This industry is a place, a corner of a very real reality..A place to escape and can edit out the B.S in life. Two humans can get together and share something worth sharing, something amazing. We can be free and happy and leave the challenges behind us, if even for a moment. We can be honest, trusting and benefit one another in a positive way and on no one's expense. A good time to be human together in a place where we can feel alive and feel like we should. Perhaps many of us are here on the same account.

No, I'm a fairy. :) But assertions of magicalness aside, the most honest answer I can give is I'm not sure. Allow me to explain. I was a pretty solitary, nerdy kid- I got bullied a lot, so I didn't have a lot of friends, and I spent most of my time reading. I remember very well wanting to be all sorts of things but who I was. A horse. A wizard. A Ranger From The North, a la Lord of the Rings. Growing up, I begrudgingly admitted that I couldn't be these things, at least not full-time (hooray for theatre!), but I still had this sense that I was in some way wholly and utterly different, as if there was something just a tad 'off-kilter' about the way my brain lined up with the rest of the world. I get the sense now that this was partly low self esteem, a protective mechanism to explain away how isolated I often felt. As I grow, I see more and more the ways in which I am actually very squarely human, that I am so very like everyone else in ways that both fill me with hope and make me very ashamed. As Maya Angelou says "We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike." Sometimes this frustrates me, and sometimes this helps me feel less alone. I'm still an introvert. I still see the world in a way that is unique to me and my experiences, something that often makes me friends, and occasionally alienates me from people. We can't make everyone happy. Does it matter whether I'm part of the human race? Biologically yes, it's helpful to have a body that works in ways that doctors can recognize and understand. But does it matter if I think the same way as the majority (whatever that is)? Or if I live in the same way? Am I am member of the human race in the same way that I would be a member of a club, having agreed to certain rules and principles, paid my dues, and attended the meetings? I don't care. If there are meetings, I'm playing hooky. I am a person, and to me that means I am a self-aware being with desires and thoughts and feelings, capable of experiencing both pleasure and pain, and deserving of respect. Sometimes I'll meddle in the affairs of humans- there are some things I'd like to do to make life better for myself and others, which will require venturing out into the world and interacting with others of the species. But sometimes I will bow out, sit at home and be a hermit, and try to tune out the noise of the rest of humanity so that I can get in touch with my personhood. And that's okay too. Too long; didn't read: No really, I'm a fairy. ;)

I used to feel part of the race, part of it all when I was young and carefree.. In a small world of fun with friends and being taken care of. Now that I'm grown I see it much differently. So differently I stay in my small world in a child like state once again being the only thing I can do to stay human. The human race is just that, a race in two ways. First it's a race in a sea of many races and second it is a race to the finish. The word "race" dates back to the thirteenth century to refer to any ethnic group or nation and the current concept of "race" dates back to the seventeeth century. I don't know how the human race lived before I Was born 29 years ago, but, race has been brought to my attention as something much different than nations, ethnic background, colours, religions ect.. Growing up we were taught that we were superior and top of the food chain, this human race of ours. I would not categorize myself as a part of the human race. Seems like more and more people are in a race for themselves, trying to get whatever they can however they can before the end of the race. Getting ahead in this race requires motives that I do not possess. Motives and tacticle skills that are beyond my ability to utilize them. I look around at all the people and I see people turning off that special trait called "caring" in order to gain what they want out of life. Respect for elders has deminished, caring for others is a joke, honesty is a quaint antique that has long since retired. People blaming others instead of taking responsibility. Sure, not everyone is part of this race of humans that may work like this..I know that..That's what keeps me sane enough to keep going .Hope.I've pulled over and out of the race, and I don't know how long I'll be at this rest stop for. It's quiet here, peaceful. It's an honest haven... It's just too unsettling for me to go on in a race or world if you will that operates in way that I cannot get so low to demean myself and others and pretend "I don't care" or people don't matter, "It's just business" just doesn't cut it. Far too many humans part of this race are more of a sub-human culture and the farthest thing from humanity. There is a dying breed out there of good honest individuals that have a heart and care for others. You can tell this breed from others because they struggle with humanity floating between insanity refusing to give in to the "normal" acceptable reality and yet still have to be surrounded by it. These people care for others, are honest and loving..They don't gossip or plot to take down one another, slander and hurt each other for fun or to get ahead in the race. Sleeping at night doesn't come easy for me..I can't change the world and I can't accept it, so I created my own world and in my own world I will stay-away from this plagued race. I do have hope I do have hope

The reason the government was so quick to swoop in was because Wall Street owned plenty of politicans, as they continue to do. And they own them on both sides of the aisle. There was no higher moral principle about Universal Healthcare, merely the Health Insurance companies puting the policians they owned into service against it. It can be argued that every major policy decision in living memory is based on pure economics. Wall Street has a significant ownership stake in the White House, plain and simple. I would also argue that the laws regulating the markets proved inadequate since the practice of selling toxic investments and then betting against them went on for years and regulatory bodies looked the other way. And China's communism may not have much to do with their economic propsperity, but the simple fact is that the largest stakeholder in American debt is the largest Communist country in the world. Every bubble bursts, the question is can this one be prevented? Additional Comments: I get the idea that you and i would differ greatly on matters of politics Bailey Dog, but you have the right idea in helping-get involved and change the beast from the inside.

I called them up the other day, Those Bastards Fat, the Guys that Weigh I hoped they'd send some fun my way To lighten up a dreary day. The guy who took my call, I swear Was very much the worse for wear. I asked what had caused this distress And why he sounded such a mess. "A quiet night at our HQ, We had a beer - just one or two. Don't you worry, have no fear We do this most nights of the year There's no cause for you to be wary - Now, what's your fancy? Bald or hairy?" I made my choice - I won't say what; They said they'd be there in a shot. So, preparation: in a trice I'd half a case of beer on ice. A pizza ordered, soon was there All was set, with time to spare. Fast-forward, then; it's five to five A truck has rattled up my drive. I noted then, with great distrust That there was much less truck than rust I wondered, with a little fear - "How on earth did *that* get here?" But that was nothing to my fright At what then assailed my sight. A bulging gut, with faded jeans (they were quite bursting at the seams) But as for hair, they are no liars: His head was as bald as his tires! I asked him if he'd come inside - Recover from his rattling ride He looked quite sore, of that I'll vouch He quickly fell upon the couch I offered him a beer, then two They quickly vanished from my view. A third was downed, and as I watched Persistently he scratched his crotch! I wondered then, with trembling knees - Was it crabs, or was it fleas? Did I really want to know? How could I get him to go? He ate my pizza, drank my beer He belched - and farted too, I fear. And then the bugger fell asleep It's quite enough to make one weep. Three hours later - that's no joke The bastard finally awoke. I hustled him out of the door And hoped I'd never see him more. My prayers weren't answered from above - "The truck won't start - I need a shove!" I donned my coat, and went outside And laboured at his rusting ride I pushed and shoved, with might and main I swear I nearly burst a vein! Finally, the engine caught My efforts wouldn't be for naught And so I sent him on his way I'd had enough for just one day. And so here ends my sorry tale; My evening with a human whale. So if you're ever tempted by The prospect of a fleshy thigh Please make sure your tastes don't lack A great love of a hairy back Stock up on liquor, and make sure Your drive goes downhill from your door!

The recommendation section is probably NOT the place to have this discussion but I see no other option. I am left wondering (A) why you want to know who she is and (B) what good would it do you? Her anonymity is just as important (I am sure) to her as yours is to you sir. This is a world where discretion and a certain degree of anonymity is required and requested, for anyone to blatantly inquire of another's actual identity is wrong and frankly kinda scary! I doubt very much that YOU would appreciate a post asking "islandguy1569 I see he is from PEI but I can't figure out who he is...any help?" In not so certain terms don't ask this type of question again man, it's just wrong! I apologize if I have hijacked this reco. thread or crossed a line in some way, if I have I am willing to take my punishment as Mod sees fit. If not let this post stand as a testament to discretion.

I also hate when you are sitting in the 2-seater seats, someone sits beside you, no problem, BUT it is a problem when it is time for me to get off, and the idiot beside me is to lazy to get up & move, and wants me to get up and climb over them I suppose???? ALSO< it would be sooooooo nice if everyone who decides to take the bus that day, could shower, USE deodorant and brush their dam teeth, and maybe even use a little mouthwash too :)
