Where did you find that pic, Old Dog? But I digress. I understand the concept of hijacking, of course, and the points raised here, but threads evolve, and go in unsuspected directions that don't necessarily correspond with the original poster's intentions. That's the nature of conversation, especially one involving lots of participants. Does the original poster "own" the thread? No, threads are thrown open as an invitation to talk, and talk has its own dynamics. I do agree that sp announcements are not the place for debates and random discussion, but I have trouble thinking of general postings as liable to being hijacked. We're a community that talks to each other, in unpredictable ways, and that's good.
