  1. Yesterday MOD disabled Tapatalk because it was crashing the system. He since has reactivated it since that it how I am posting this. Here's what's working for me; Android version 4.13.4 is okay. iOS - 2 versions: HD 1.6.2 okay 3.8.0 will not connect.
  2. Curious and more curious. Both versions continue to work properly on my Mini iPad. I literally just finished updating the Android version on my Samsung and it continues to work. There was a point with the iPad where I logged out and logged back in. Perhaps that might work for someone else having an issue?
  3. Actually, I have two versions installed on my mini iPad. Version 3.7 is behaving oddly. Version 1.6.2 of Tapatalk HD is working normally. Huh! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Oddly, I'm reading this thread on a mini iPad. I suppose I'm one upgrade from it not working.
  5. I won my court case! I was stopped last January by an Ottawa Police person and given a $110 ticket for driving in the bus lane. Oddly, he only asked for my license, not the vehicle registration. My court date was this morning. I got as far as entering a Not Guilty plea before the court took a recess. During the break, the arresting officer and I had a nice, friendly chat. I mentioned the business about the registration and he asked if I had it with me. I did. I showed it to him and pointed out where it said "Bus" on it. The vehicle in question is a 14-Passenger Navigator. He laughed and asked why I hadn't insisted on showing it to him that morning. I told him he seemed to be having a bad morning and didn't seem to have been amenable to corrective conversation. He took the registration to the Crown. When he returned he told me I was free to go. The two best parts about the exercise was seeing his face when he read the registration and getting to go on a Field Trip during my post-surgery convalescence.
  6. I saw my first companion 3 years, 9 months, and 2 days ago as of today. As it happens, I noted the event someplace which is why I know the exact date. Had such a pleasant experience that we've shared many hours of companionship since. Circumstances have changed so we don't see each other as often as I'd like but, with one exception, I've seen her every time the opportunity has presented itself. There have been others, each charming in her own right, but this one I keep coming back to.
  7. Here is a link to the story in the National Post. http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/there-are-a-lot-of-memories-on-that-pole-ottawa-strip-club-liquidates-assets-posts-beloved-brass-for-sale-on-kijiji
  8. An interesting unscientific stat. The woman who attends to my hair says that since January, when I told her I had p r o s t a t e cancer, another six male customers have told her they have p r o s t a t e or colon cancer. Pretty freaky considering the sample size.
  9. I'd like to clarify one point. When you have your blood tested (guys), PSA will be present. That's not the problem. The LEVEL of PSA is the indicator of possible cancer. My PSA was 2.4 for the longest time. Normal for my age. I got older. It went up to 4.2. Again, normal. It suddenly went up to 9,1. Not normal. Biopsy time. Biopsy showed cancer in one of the 12 samples. Time to consider options. Next test came back 11.4. Time for consideration is passed. Pick a treatment option and go with it. And that is how I find myself sitting around watching TV recovering from a radical prostatectomy. Fun. Do the damn test. Knowing and doing beats the alternative!
  10. I appreciate this quote from the defendant Henry Rayhons' attorney. "Personally it was very close to me," he said. "And professionally it was frankly offensive to me that the government should engage in some sort of monitoring between a husband and a wife." (The attorney's mother, who also had Alzheimer's, passed away just before the end of the trial. Thus the "Personally" comment.) For more information on how this whole thing ended up in the courts, read this. Henry Rayhons' stepchild denies bitterness played role
  11. Umm... Actually there are a lot of things about this whole deal that are kind of silly. But like with a lot of other things in life, if you want to play the game, you go with silly. I have no problem giving my name. I know why she needs it. I'm pretty sure my name is more secure with her than with Target, Home Depot or other corporations who have famously suffered security breaches. There have been instances where, without looking for it, I've come to know someone's civilian name. We've discussed it and, in the interest of simplicity, I continue to use her advertised name. Oddly, in a way, I see it as a respect thing. I know my doctor's name but I would never, even after 30 years, call him "Claude". For this woman, in this scenario in which we find ourselves, she is Magic Snowflake. Maybe if we were at the same high school reunion I would go with Mary. Otherwise, hi ya Magic Snowflake!
  12. Did the colonoscopy thing. Found out I was squeaky clean and pink. Did the DRE (digital exam) and PSA tests every year so my doc had a point of reference when he felt something different. Caught the pro state cancer early. Guys... This stuff is serious and tragically preventable. Get your a s s in the game!
  13. Three times I've gotten PMs from strangers asking what appeared to be simple questions about a lady. Different lady each time. Twice I've found out the guy was harassing the lady. Done answering unsolicited PMs. Oh, and to you dick heads that are harassing ladies? Stop that!
  14. Woke up today. (I like goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-based.)
  15. Kneels beside the subject, two fingers against the neck just below the jaw. Stares searchingly into the distance for 30 seconds. Slowly takes hand away, looks up, and says, "He's dead, Jim".... ... fade to black ...
  16. Had my staples removed yesterday morning. CLSC nurse said a portion of the incision margins didn't look just right so she used steri-strips to help until it got better. About six in the evening I felt way too much liquid in my lap. On inspection, found a small tear in my incision had opened and was acting as a drain. Not a doctor, but pretty sure this isn't good. On the advice of Info-Sante, went to the ER. Doc on call was impressed with the McGyver-esque arrangement I'd assembled to keep my insides in. Declared it to be okay enough to get me through the night and said to see my doc in the morning. Just got back from seeing him. All is okay. Keep the site dry. Pick up nothing heavier that 5 (five) pounds. Have a nice life. Which I will do. But I gotta say there was a moment in there that scared the bejeebers out of me!!
  17. Yesterday's highlight of the day was having my staples removed. One step closer to getting back to my regular life. The highlight for today is finding out that nothing that happened between yesterday and today's highlights will have a negative impact. It's all good.
  18. Funny how many of these have to do with sex. http://www.businessinsider.com/the-15-worst-corporate-logo-fails-2014-1?op=1
  19. While we're waiting for the Ladies to respond, I'll offer this opinion. I can think of a lot of reasons why someone would be uncomfortable with this question during initial contact. Are you someone from the hotel trying to confirm a suspicion? Stalker? Competition? I would guess it unlikely she would directly answer this. If you phrased it such as "a general sense of where downtown are you?" you'd have a better chance of a useful answer. If you sounded serious she'd probably tell you to go to such and such a corner and then direct you to call for final directions. With that information, you should be able to make an educated guess as to whether the hotel you want to avoid is in play.
  20. My surgery is done. We think the cancer is gone. We'll know for certain in early June. I was released from the hospital this afternoon. Everything went wonderfully. Right now my goals are pretty basic. Things like walking all the way down the block and back. Can't pick up the largest dog for a while. Not driving for a while but that'll come. And as for that Great Diversion that Time and Companionship can bring? That's not going to happen for a little while. When I first get back, it will be in a slightly different manner but, over time, there is reason to believe all things are possible. So play safe, kids. If not before I hope to see you at the next Social!
  21. Getting down to the short stroke now. Three andf a half days until surgery. I'm running out of things to think about to keep my mind off it (also known as avoidance). Went in for my pre-op tests and such. Spent that day really depressed but have bounced back. I haven't been to see everyone I wanted to see. I'll be optimistic and say I'm saving the missed ones for when I'm back in the game. The uncertainty is the hard part for me. Will I make it through the surgery? (Probably) Will I contract C. Difficile or MRSA while in the hospital? (Probably not) Will Wee Willie ever work in some semblance of what it does now? If it does, will it take thre months, six months, a year? If it doesn't, will I have the self-confidence to continue to play doing other things I apparently do pretty well? I'm pretty sure I will with a couple of very special friends. On the off chance, admittedly very tiny, that things don't work well Thursday, I want to thank everyone here for all the good and wonderful experiences. Having said that, it is my intention to get back on the board next weekend to tell you all I'm just fine.
  22. Add my voice to the chorus of thanks to Alexxandria and Loneskater for organizing a wonderful evening. I also thank all the lovely ladies that were there, each one adding their individual spice to an exciting ambience. And, it was fun to see old friends and make new ones. Looking forward to the Beach!
  23. The hi tech company I worked for pre-retirement was across the street for a long time. Most of the initial design work on most of their major products was done on napkins at the SD.
  24. During conversation with a companion once she mentioned in passing that she enjoyed pain. During a subsequent session we explored that. My upbringing was such that, initially, I was not being firm enough to meet her wishes. Eventually there was a belt involved and I was surprised at what she wanted and where. But the evidence was clear that she enjoyed it. But this is not something I would do with anyone else unless they explicitly requested it. So ya, some do. Some don't.
