  1. Looks kind of uncomfortable, I'm afraid. I much prefer my own stylish, home-made tin-foil hat :)
  2. Absolutely. And this is why I'm somewhat of a paranoid Luddite on these things... I really don't trust large corporations further than I can spit, and I don't want them to know where I am, or what I'm doing, or how I'm spending my money. And so I don't have a smartphone with funky apps, and I think twice about what I post on Facebook, and I don't use my credit card for absolutely everything. Yes... but it scares the crap out of me at times.
  3. You can always ask the SP when you book. Also, some SPs are smokers themselves... :)
  4. That's covered in the FAQ - and as you said, not allowed.
  5. I have to disagree with you on this one, I'm afraid. If CERB's membership was constant and unchanging, and if we all had perfect memories, then I'd be right with you - but both SPs and hobbyists come and go, and even for those who have been around for a while a reminder of the potential pitfalls isn't necessarily a bad idea. If this thread makes someone, somewhere stop and think a little harder about what they're doing (or not doing), or if someone learns something from it, or if someone decides to go and find out more about something as a result of it, then I think it's been worthwhile. And I won't complain if it comes up again a few months down the road, for the same reasons; we'll have new members by then who won't have seen it before. Those who feel they have nothing further to learn are free to move along.
  6. Oh, yes. I'm well aware of this - have a look at this, for example, in which a German politician's movements were tracked over several months (although I believe it took some legal action to get Deutsche Telekom to release the data). What makes it worse with the iPhone is that it's being sync'd to other devices too - and the more different places information end up in, the harder it is to stop it falling into the wrong hands... Additional Comments: I think it'd just stop the apps getting it. Which may or may not be a problem, depending on which apps you use and what you use them for. Your phone is *always* in contact with the service provider's transmitters, and triangulating between these means they can usually determine your location, although the margin of error may vary from a few miles to quite a lot less. The only way you can prevent this is to turn the phone off entirely. And as Sarcasticsid said, this applies to all phones.
  7. It's the people. The sense of community, the mutual respect, the variety of things that get talked about from the deadly serious to the spectacularly silly... all that comes, in the end, from the people here. It's also worth mentioning that although there's always that one person who might screw things up for everyone else, our mods do a great job of keeping a lid on that sort of thing. Tip 'o the hat to you guys for keeping the undesirable elements out!
  8. This kind of thing really makes me angry. If the guy's considered a serious risk, *why* does someone have to get badly hurt to prove the point? It doesn't sound like he's shown much in the way of remorse, either, which simply increases the risk to those around him. *sigh*...
  9. Wow... much respect to you. Congratulations, and all the best for the road ahead.
  10. Absolutely. I refuse to get a phone that handles email for precisely this reason, and I'm quite happy to ignore my cell if I feel so inclined. It's there for my convenience, not anyone else's. Some of the best times in my life have been when I've been living in a tent for a month or more at a time and completely remote from everything. As in, World War Three could have broken out and I wouldn't have found out for a week or two. It was awesome!
  11. Since we seem to have a few... I have arbitrarily decided that we need a new group :) http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/group.php?groupid=72
  12. Well, if we're going metal, a couple of very old Iron Maiden songs for you: 22 Acacia Avenue Health warning: youtube links feature guys in leather and spandex. This was the early 80s, after all.
  13. I don't think you'd ever expect to get DATY or any sort of BJ in a MP, as my understanding is that this is where it crosses the line into bawdy-house territory. Although I don't *know*, 'cos I've never actually asked. Indies, of course, can do whatever they like :) Although I get the impression that most (but not all) who advertise as MAs rather than FS SPs stay within similar limits.
  14. ...here's one from Spain who appears to be much less dull :) http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/04/15/menorcan_polititian/
  15. On the subject... someone's pandering to their local audience :) http://www.bostonpizza.com/fr/default
  16. Absolutely. Shouldn't need saying, but sometimes it does.
  17. That "knowingly" looks important to me. Doesn't that mean this law only holds good if the landlord actually knows what their tenant is doing, and if this can actually be proven? I'd assume that most SPs don't tell the landlords of their incalls exactly what they're up to.... :)
  18. Highly Orgasmic Liaisons, Exclusively Yours! KARMA
  19. Gaah! I have no idea what I'm doing wrong - I can see the pics I post. Link for the last one is http://www.labatidora.net/galerias/ftvgirls-jenny-11142009/images/10.jpg - does that work if you click it? ie is it a fundamentally bad link, or me screwing up the posting?
  20. Hmmm....tough one. I'll have a think about it. In the meantime, here's some more materiel for contemplation... provided I don't mess the link up this time...
  21. Unfortunately, I think her fate was pretty much sealed as soon as 'sex' and 'school' appeared in the same story. That's precisely the sort of thing that brings out the knee-jerk 'won't somebody think of the children' brigade irrespective of the salient facts, and regrettably there aren't that many decision-makers who will fight for a rational decision in the face of that.
