With all parties aware of the situation and willing to give it the best effort that they can, mixed with a healthy dose of trust ... it can work. I've occasionally wondered if this occurs because it's just so much easier for everyone involved in the sense that the friends/relatives of both parties are already aware that the individual in each case is "in the industry", at least to some extent.
