To celebrate mothers, and the upcoming mothers day I thought I'd start a thread in their honor. Tell us about yours and how you spend mothers day. My mother is, so I think, the best cook in the world. She is extremely generous, selfless, smart, independent, beautiful, and really the only person who I fully trust and feel completely safe around. I talk to her everyday, it is important to me to hear her voice often as it's comforting and grounds me. Her advice is always right and her wisdom is priceless. I think she is the most important person in the world. Mothers, what would we do without them. They teach us, guide us and would go to the ends of the earth for their children. There is nothing like a mothers love. :)

I try to be compassionate with myself as much as possible. While regret is useful, as articulated by Porthos, it does not serve a purpose beyond learning about oneself. If ever I experience a twinge of regret, I try to remind myself that in that moment (the moment over there, forgotten, lapsed, or otherwise inaccessible), I made the best possibile decision for myself. Perhaps now I'm different, or somehow wiser (possible older?), but that doesn't mean that back then my decision wasn't right for me. With age comes that recognition. I made a lot of really stupid mistakes, even within the past few years, but I've learned incredibly valuable lessons from them. I try not to be too hard on myself :) This was a wonderful thread, thank you so much Al!

My advice is STAY AWAY, this lady and a few others have been pulling this pay in full via - transfer for weeks now in NB and NS. You send the money, they accept and then when you call for confirmation they tell you they never received the money. I tend to think we all have regrets, choices we wish we could have over again. The key, it seems to me, is not to allow yourself to be defined by the choices you didn't make ... by the regrets. I say dumb things on a daily basis. I don't think I'm wired right. I either try not to talk too much or wait for the blank stare or quizzical look, then go over what I just said and start explaining. I've come up with a biological reason why men say the dumbest things. You see the expression thinking with his penis and not his head. Well you when a man has an erection it increases blood flow to the penis causing blood loss to the brain making it biologically impossible to think before they talk so that is why we say dumb things. We don't even realize it. Ok I just made that up, just chalk that up to another dumb thing men say.

But when it comes to trying to get it legalize one of the main argument's is about MD's. and the issues that can come from it and as this thread is for what i think on assisted suicide i wanted to give a more facts like replay as this is something i have been thou with a close family member and is something i deal with alot in my daily life. also assisted suicide and active euthanasia are much the same thing. i say this only for info sake as i did not know what you meant by that part of you comment. Again as i deal a lot with this i am very hopeful that the laws on this will change in the future.

When we speak of "murder" or the "doctor having too much power" I think it's important to remember that all the posts in this thread are discussing assisted suicide and NOT euthanasia... there's a big difference. I do respect some of your points, though - thanks for bringing them up.

I think that everyone has at least a couple of regret in there life, no matter what people say they do not. and it is not a bad thing i could write a book on all the things i regret but even thou everyone would like to go back and change the things they made mistakes on, or things they do not do whould it be for the best. In our life it is our mistakes that made us who we are today and so might say great if i could change things in the past i would be even greater or beater then i am now, but on that same logic you could all so be a shadow of what you are now. with all the things i wish i could change i still think about some of them even to this day but i know there is nothing i can do but i can take the following attitude and i hope every one else will find it nice as well: " There is nothing your persent self can do to change your past self or the events that happened, but you can live in this moment and if there is something you do not like about who you are, strive to make it better. because your present self can change your future self. so it is never to late to be the person you want to be." In my job this is something that does come up a lot along with suicide in general, so i will be as objective as i can. I think that people should have the right to do as they wish with there own life as long as it is there own choice. I have seen first hand many different pov on why it should be illegal from A legal point being this would give an a person like a doctor to much power to just say try and get a person to end there life without helping them. (yes i was at a conference and this came up) to a moral point being that all life it special and assisted suicide is just like murder. to a religious point being that all forms of suicide are a sin. This is just a few but you get the point, the main thing that i have noticed with dealing on this subject is that i see people say argument based on them selfs as the main person in question and not on what is best. The worst and most self centered thing i hear from a lot is people who are completely healthy see it should be illegal because they would not want to have someone just end there life. how do they know that when they are not in that spot of have had someone in that situation. I have gone thou watching someone in the same predicament and it is not nice to know there is not really anything you can do accept as in the case of going to another county and that is just wrong. This is only my pov and i have left out a lot in order to keep this from getting into an argument but i do think that assisted suicide should be legal but i do know there issues if it is so i can understand other peoples views. Hello Cristy: It all boils down to just one thing, and only one thing. When a person's quality-of-life has diminished to the point where they feel more anguish in living. It is time to respect their wishes and assist them in dying in a manner and they choose. This is one of very few issues I take a very hard line on. I have seen personally, people suffer... A person must have dignity throughout their life! When people, groups and bureaucracies put themselves first, ahead of the person in pain, I become enraged. We cannot understand truly what the person is going through and our discomfort must take a backseat to their wishes. In terms of making gaffes outside the SP client relationship I have too many to list but here's one that happened last weekend. My wife is extremely beautiful and gets hit on alot and we were sitting around entertaining and her sister was there.
