  1. Predictions will be tough this season because the lockout messed with just about everyone last season. Some teams got into the playoffs who wouldn't normally, and others missed out who were turning the corner but ran out of time to make up the distance. Toss in the new divisional alignment and the possible complications of the Olympic break and the whole thing is a toss up. One prediction I'm fairly confident in though, is that I will not win my hockey pool. Again.
  2. I'm a few hours early but I just wanted to wish Isabella Gia a very, very happy birthday! All the very best on your special day. Have all the cake and coffee you like!
  3. The Ottawa Sun printed sensationalism and passed it off as news? Shocking (insert sarcasm here).
  4. We all remember where we were September 11th. A dozen years later, the wound has left behind a scar to remind of us of that sombre day of ash and tears, where history was forced in a new, darker direction at the expense of nearly 3000 lives. Sons and Daughters. Mothers and Fathers. Wives and Husbands. Family. Friend. Hero. Today, each and every one of us should spare a thought to remember them.
  5. Or go right up to him, a big, sincere smile on your face and say "Hey! How you doing? It's great to see you! I have to admit, everyone figured you'd be dead or in prison as someone's boy toy by now! Way to keep your head above water!" Then fade back into your group. Maybe not very practical or morally high, but fun.
  6. i'm a huge fan of the books, having devoured the first four and waiting to get into the fifth (which is currently sitting on my book shelf). Just started watching the first season and I'm very impressed by how close to the source material they remain. I'm interested to see how long they keep up being that true to the books, but having the author as an Executive Producer doesn't hurt.
  7. Whoa. What happened? How did this thread devolve into discussing the validity of positive and negative reviews and/or recommendations? Balance or fairness has nothing to do with what the thread is about. Those debates have their valid points and merits on both sides, I'm sure, but this thread was started as an apology to the ladies for the juvenile idiocy they sometimes have to put up with. The OP's intent was to basically say "Look guys, they're people too, so if you're tempted to call them degrading things, y'know, don't." I'm paraphrasing. The debate this has turned into should be another thread entirely. On that note, we should probably let this one cool down a bit. I remember a lengthy thread a little while ago on the insensitivity of some words used to describe ladies and things got heated and I'm pretty sure the fallout included some suspensions. Food for thought.
  8. I don't know if you can. Apparently the corn is like zombies-it can't be killed and lives forever. I can only imagine how many of their other crops are members of the undead.
  9. Just to climb out on a humourous limb for a minute, I'd erase all boy bands. From history. For ever. After that, well let's just say there are some people with certain behaviour traits I'd acquaint myself with very diabolically. Healthy people who park in handicap spaces, you'd be first in line, followed by the people who actually listened to the boy bands before I sent them packing for oblivion.
  10. I can't add to the words already expressed, I'm pretty sure everything's been said. For the ladies, I'm sincerely sorry you have to tolerate such nonsense. But as for the "men" who make such assinine, irrelevant, ignorant, knuckle-dragging comments, well, these walking wastes of flesh are the kind of mouth breathing vermin that give men everywhere a bad name. Most likely racist, homophobic high school dropouts who think a beer gut and a limited vocabulary make them "real men." Their barely literate opinion should never been given more weight than a laugh and the only thoughts I'd encourage anyone to spare them is disgust and the sincere hope that they fail to bread. My couple of pennies.
  11. Lone Ranger. Save yourself the grief. It was beyond bad.
  12. To paraphrase Christopher Walken-don't just fight it, kick its ass!
  13. People would come with built in stupid detectors. Every time someone opened their mouth to say something or were about to act on an idea they thought was brilliant but was actually an exercise in epic idiocy, a buzzer would sound or they'd get some sort of internal jolt, alerting them to their foolishness. Such an evolutionary advantage could have spared us the horrors known as Jar Jar Binks, the Spice Girls and the George W. Bush years, although it may have killed the stand up comic.
  14. You make some very good points Kennidi. My biggest concern is that he was representing Canada in another country, and whether we agree with the law or not, he broke that country's laws. Second, and this is only a personal assumption, but I suspect, given his party affiliation, he probably has stated some views that are very contrary to his actions. It would be like a public figure who is very anti-drug getting caught with a bag of marijuana. A harmless, victimless crime, but when you're elected because of your views on controlled substances . . . And for a public figure doing something illegal in another country, he demonstrated an alarming lack of common sense about it. As its been stated previously, there were much safer and much more discrete methods of seeking what he was looking for. He apparently didn't make this decision with the head on his shoulders. Having that kind of rash judgement present in someone who votes on laws and makes decisions spending tax dollars should be reason or concern.
  15. I wonder, as a member of Alberta's Conservative party, what his public views have been on the legality of prostitution or his stand on "family values." Does he have any thoughts on the record? I suspect the hypocrisy level might be quite high.
  16. Happy birthday to a stunning, charming young woman. All the best on your special day and here's hoping you got spoiled!
  17. All the very best to you in the future. Don't kick the world's butt too hard.
  18. Truly sorry to hear of your loss. Sincerest condolences.
