  1. I hear you. I'm trying to think of the last time, or even when, I bought anything on-line. That may be a generational thing, I was in my 30s before I got a credit card and I used it as little as possible. I still do, but the usage increased over time. Inevitably you might say. In the words of Kurt Vonnegut, so it goes. And I try to avoid big franchise stores as much as possible. For example, I've always bought books at local, independent book stores and I think the extra cost is well spent. I have what I realise is not an entirely supportable bias against product from the US of A. It would take too long to explain that bias but someone of my age (SENIOR citizen) may have some understanding. However it is almost impossible to adhere to that so-called "principle" of mine. So I live with that particular sin of mine. I go to a local coffee shop where the proprietor serves behind the counter and is absolutely charming. And I suspect, without any objective evidence, that your experience with that sales clerk and manager have come about in Canada because of the influence of the US of A. Look what's happened to The Bay, to Eatons, and so many local Canadian stores. And look at what we got to replace those iconic Canadian stores - Wal-Mart, and now Target, etc. etc. etc I stand to be corrected, but it would take a whole lot to do so. Jeezus - maybe in my approaching dotage I've gotten to to be what I always dreaded to be - close-minded. Tell me it ain't so.
  2. Absolutely; Joni Mitchell in particular, invented so many open tunings for her unforgettable songs. She's not "flash" just plain magic. Driving to Montreal June of 2011 I heard her interviewed by Gian Gomeshi. She's not only a brilliant musician but has great insight into how the world works. Additional Comments: Is it OK to reply to my own post? It's just because I messed up and it needs to be put in context. I was replying specifically to the post from Nathalie Lefebrve.
  3. Somehow missed this thread earlier - must have been tuning my strings. A top 5 - it's always hard to say. But here goes. And I decided to do this just off the top of my head as opposed to really thinking about it, which would get me nowhere. Some of these guys have been mentioned before. Hey, it just occurred to me when I said guys, maybe we should have one for the ladies too. I'll start it and nominate Bonnie Raitt. And leave it to you to take it from there. Back to the guys - in no particular order (but not including classical guitarists - I couldn't handle the pressure of one more different genre). Some of these have been already listed. Starting with 2 jazz men. Lenny Breau Jim Hall Now a guy who changed everything for every guitarist Jimi Hendrix Cross-over guys Mark Knopfler Ry Cooder Country Blues - little known but brilliant. Had a tragic end, hanged himself in a jail cell. Roy Buchanan OK - can't resist, one more jazz guitarist Charlie Christian
  4. "This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man." From that, you can see it goes without saying that I much prefer the genuine article. Communication beforehand tends to give a fair idea of what to expect at a first encounter with one of the wonderful CERB ladies and mostly enables me to make a good match for myself. Communication includes reading websites, posts etc. Experience using CERB helps too. We all, in our daily lives, and especially our working lives, adopt a role to a greater or lesser degree and we continue to play in that role even in difficult circumstances. It is in this "role" context I assess my experiences. And that's a fact of life. In most encounters there are two (sometimes 3) people intending to make the encounter as pleasurable as possible for each other. So, what does that take? And this is where the question of "faking it" comes into play. Believe me, I'm not expecting to send any lady I choose to spend time with into a "never-before-experienced-ecstatic-orgasm". I do expect that I will be able to give her some degree of pleasure from my company by my behaviour and attitude towards her; by "being me". And if my instincts have been "on", in terms of what I sense of the "character" (for want of a better word) of the person when I've made the decision to arrange a tryst with a particular SP, I get huge satisfaction from what I believe is a genuine experience of pleasure on their part from being in my company; from me "being me". More often than not I have experienced that "never-before-experienced-ecstatic-orgasm". I mean. at my age, each one has to better than the last. Right? And there have been occasions when there has been no orgasm achieved on my part. But, on account of the "character" of the lady I have been with it wasn't the crushing disappointment it would have been many years ago. And finally, as I believe that your reach should exceed your grasp, I still live in hope of succeeding in giving one, maybe just one (I have to be realistic here!) of my future companions a "never-before-experienced-ecstatic-orgasm" OK ladies - I've upped the ante here!!
  5. Yeah - I'm following it, as many games as possible. You're right about Holland v. Spain. I'd have more respect for Holland if they did not have De Jong playing for them, after his kick at Alonso in the 2010 final. At least they got rid of van Bommel. I'm kind of holding back on predictions and also on supporting a team to win. I want to see good entertaining football. I would like to see Messi make this his best World Cup ever. If Suarez is fit enough Uruguay should entertain and it's Forlan's last World Cup. He deserves a good run. Chile look exciting. And, for the hosts, Brazil, Neymar looks exciting but, apart from him the team looked flat. That's it for the moment. But I hope the thread attracts lots of posts.
  6. Some random thoughts from an old fart. The bang bus or the limousine Maybe itâ??s because Iâ??m very close to celebrating the next significant decade in my life that Clarissa Delightâ??s post to the effect that she was not interested in the bang bus approach struck a chord with me. It was a major chord. And, before I forget, something Iâ??m prone to doing at this stage of my life, I want to refer you to my reco for my unforgettable meeting with Clarissa. She was able to switch effortlessly from a major to a minor chord and any blues lover knows what that means - it creates tension, and then release. This next bit of this post is not intended to be critical of many of the posts and recos I read on CERB these days, rather an observation from the perspective of an aging old fart. I joined CERB late 2009 and was active until mid 2011, and then a lapsed devotee until late last year. It does seem to me that the general tenor of many of the posts on CERB has changed over the past 3 years. They seem to be more now focused on the â??bang busâ? descriptions and less on the wonderful, exotic, erotic and nuanced delights which I take unbounded pleasure in. Is it because of BPs? Is it because of the short hand of texting? Or, worse, is it because any sense of romance and wonder in the delights of a woman has been lost? Hang on, just before I finish - I just realised that what I wrote may suggest a real bias on my part towards mature escorts (see my reference to Clarissa Delight above, and not to forget [how could I?] Savannah Lane. Well there is a bias there. But just yesterday I met Nathalie LeFebvre - and if you read my reco you will see that she knocked my socks off. Just kind of wondering what you ladies and hobbyists think about my meanderings. ??
  7. Mind and body - and the â??feverâ?. A path unknown. Nathalie Lefebvre When I first saw her name I figured, as I kind of think that most non-French speaking cerbites would, that the surname is French for â??feverâ?. It turns out that this is not the case. En Francais â??feverâ? est la fievre. There is an old, but a classic song, called â??Feverâ?. The best recording of that song that comes to mind for me is the version sung by Peggy Lee with the George Shearing group. Itâ??s a timeless song in its nuanced sexuality. You can you tube it. And, the thing is that Nathalie gave me the â??feverâ?. The â??feverâ? is the physical sensation. On top of that (make of that phrase what you will), in the words of the Stonesâ?? â??Honkey Tonk Womanâ? she â??blew my mindâ?. Mind and body, itâ??s a combination not to be missed. You may be transported into worlds unknown. It's going to be up to you. Hereâ??s what she says on her website: "First and foremost, I'm a companion. This means the type of experience I offer is about more than sex. For me, being a companion means genuinely connecting in a passionate moment with another human being." Itâ??s true.
  8. I can't add anything to Old Dog's excellent precis. And I hope Roaming Guy's recent experience being left hanging was something of an aberration for him. I just want to say that this thread is an excellent example of the service provided by CERB. The posts give us insight into the difficulties experienced by the ladies we have met and are yet to meet. They also serve to remind us of how lucky we are to have access to these intelligent, charming, compassionate, and passionate, companions.
  9. I'm not familiar with the books on your list so these 2 recommendations may not suit you, but here we go: "The Sound of One Hand Clapping" by Richard Flanagan. It's set in Tasmania. "Oscar and Lucinda" by Peter Carey, set mainly in Australia. They made a movie of this book with Ralph Fiennes and Cate Blanchett.
  10. Clarissa - "Between The Rock and a Hard Place. Clarissa is from "The Rock". And I do believe that, thanks to her wonderful talents, she drilled down and found a hard place with me during her visit to Halifax. There is an old (what else could it be) Duke Ellington song called "Sophisticated Lady". Here's a sample of the lyrics: "She's a different lady with a different styleâ?¨ She stands tall and ready like the Eiffel Towerâ?¨ She is hip to politics, but loves her jazzâ?¨ She's got lots of rhythm, she's got lots of class."â?¨ Yeah - and guess what - she will have you standing tall and ready like the Eiffel Tower. She's some sophisticated lady. Clarissa, I miss her Already.
  11. Dear Ms. Savannah Lane: I'm missing you. I'm gonna have to get back to St. John's some day, it's been too long. Will you take care of me while I'm there? Like, forever? lol
  12. Good advice. RG. As an aside, from the number of posts where you have stated (mistakenly) that you are rambling, maybe you need to change your handle from RG to RM. Rambling Man! lol
  13. This is indeed a long running post. I'm not sure that PMs are sufficient to avoid disappointment for the SP or provider. Face to face communication is the final answer but open communication pre-contact will go some way to minimize chances of disappointment. For example, a telephone conversation, after checking the CERB recos, can go some way to establishing a level of comfort. Obviously, it's not foolproof but if either party is not completely comfortable with the conversation each of them can exercise some judgment in deciding whether to meet.
  14. MS - a rather harsh, and somewhat pedantic statement. Perhaps I should exercise some caution and close my post with EOE: Errors And Omissions Excepted.
  15. Hi there WIT: That is a huge post. And to tell you the truth I just skimmed it. I attended part of the National Truth and Reconciliation Commission meeting on Aboriginal Residential Schools. I may not have this completely right because it is a complex, generational issue but as I understand the history, many of the sex workers in Vancouver were aboriginal and I believe that the official government policy of "assimilation" led to displacement and loss of identity, and with no place to fit in our male, white, dominated society. Not exactly a thesis but it's what I think.

  18. How come this wasn't reported on the weather channel? "Stormy weather - since my gal and I ain't been together, it's been raining all the time." "Here comes the sun, here comes the sun, and I say, it's all right" I can picture you with your power point wand WIT tracing the highs and lows on the meteorological chart. Looks to me like there were no lows, unless the chart went down under.

  20. You know you're old when the first "pop" record you bought was a 78 by Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers. And the first "45" you bought was Roy Orbison - "Blue Angel" and there was a division in your high school class as between Elvis and Buddy Holly. btw - Rory Gallagher was an Irish blues guitarist. Ireland produces great musicians, singers, writers, playwrights, poets and beer. I wonder if the beer has something to do with it???? Almost forgot - football (soccer) players.
  21. Good forecast Bigbaby She is a legend. What a goal from her to take them to penalties - such a well timed, well angled flick to put the ball past Hope Solo. And what a game it was. I was so impressed by how these small and strong Japanese players, particularly the strikers who by and large were isolated for a good part of the game, were able to shield the ball and hold it up against much taller opponents. And Sawa played a captain's game. That beautiful through ball which split the USA's defence but the angle was tight and the shot went into the side net. And, to be fair, I thought this was the best I've seen the US play. You have to feel for Abby Wambach after that shot of her's crashed off the bar. Both sides played passes straight to the opposition from time to time. The US was really punished when the captain played to an opponent trying to play out of defence and that led to the first equalising goal with a terrible mix-up between the 2 central defenders. It was a gripping game all the way to the wire. Congratulations Japan.
  22. Hello Cerbites: Those who may have followed my recos will understand that I don't navigate this site very well - too accustomed to using an old compass on an old wooden sailboat. Emily sure knows how to navigate me to get me from my port of departure to my port of arrival - if you catch my drift. Anyway, here's my most recent reco - which I posted lord knows where. Deadline: Halifax, Friday, July 8, 2011. "I was SO horny this afternoon that when I saw Emily, she said "Get Thee Behind Me Satan!" I'll leave it to your imagination to figure out what happened next!! Emily's imagination knows no bounds and next time she is in town we plan to buy enough poutine to fill half the bathtub and eat our way out of the tub. Sounds to me like the icing on the cupcake - or the gravy train. Just a warning cerbites, this is going to be an exclusive dining experience, just for Daddio. Sorry guys."
