Angkor Wat is absolutely at the top of my bucket list. I should also say: I'm probably going to hate this thread, 'cos it'll give me itchy feet... :)

Why on earth would you say that? First up: CERB is a recommendation board, not a review board. We write recos here. The difference matters. Secondly: since we're writing recos, and not reviews, we're only allowed to say nice things about the ladies. If we don't want to be nice, the banner across the top of every page applies. And so I'm really not sure how anything posted on CERB by others could destroy a person's reputation; if anything like that was posted, hopefully people would report it and Mod would step in and do something about it. Of course, that doesn't prevent people trashing their own reputations (often without realizing that they've done so)... it's rare, but it happens...

Dancers for a Limo Bus?
Phaedrus replied to bcguy42's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Without knowing the details, I'd imagine that the big issue here is going to be guaranteeing the dancer's safety while she's stuck in a vehicle with a bunch of guys who are presumably not going to be completely sober. Could be tricky, and trickier when you don't know the guys in question. How do you ensure that things don't go bad? What's the plan if they do? -

Phaedrus replied to LeeRichards's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Weren't we congratulating you on 6000, like, last week? Congratulations again, RG! I'd say, "Keep 'em coming!" but I suspect it's unnecessary :) -
What makes you say " WTF?"
Phaedrus replied to DariaKayM's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I wish... I wish... ...I wish that they could just let these people through, and then channel them into a separate holding area, where they'd be made to wait until everyone else was on the plane. And then they'd be called by row, again... and once again, those that can't follow simple instructions get held back. And so on, until either they learn or there's only one idiot left, who boards last. While I'm dreaming, I'd also like my own private jet, so that I wouldn't have to be annoyed by these people in the first place :) -
AFAIK, thread titles don't change after the first post. Even if that post's title is subsequently changed, the thread title stays as it was. I have no idea if there's a reason for this, or whether it's just a bug in the board software. Mod may be able to edit a thread title by hand, if you ask, but I'm not aware of any other way of getting it done.

Best Album Award on CERB

I really have to second this. It's a refreshing change from the usual T&A-based pics. Not that there's anything wrong with those, of course... :) -
How to get rid of hiccups

I find that any sort of breathing exercise that makes you get back control of your diaphragm will get rid of them pretty quickly. -
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10835890 A man sought emergency treatment at hospital in Auckland this week with an eel stuck up his bottom. The unnamed individual presented himself at the A&E department at Auckland City Hospital to explain his embarrassing problem. It is believed the patient was sent for X-rays and a scan, which showed there was an eel lodged inside him. "The eel was about the size of a decent sprig of asparagus and the incident is the talk of the place," a hospital source said. "Doctors and nurses have come across people with strange objects that have got stuck where they shouldn't be before, but an eel has to be a first." It is unclear how the eel managed to be trapped inside the man. It is believed medics successfully removed it and the man was later discharged. A hospital spokesman last night confirmed the bizarre incident had taken place. "In response to a direct query from the Herald on Sunday, we can confirm that an adult male presented at Auckland City Hospital this week with an eel inside him," Matt Rogers, spokesman for Auckland District Health Board, said. He added: "No further comment will be made out of respect for the patient's right to privacy." According to the Department of Conservation website, there are two main types of eel found in New Zealand - the shortfin and the longfin. Eels migrate up streams as elvers to find suitable adult habitat. After many years they migrate to the Pacific Ocean to breed and die. Eels are secretive, nocturnal and prefer habitats with plenty of cover. They hunt by smell rather than sight.

Destiny or Coincidence
Phaedrus replied to mrrnice2's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Unfortunately for your argument, the laws of physics have now been demonstrated to predict probabilities of outcomes, rather than actual events. Your argument was fine until Quantum Mechanics came along, but it hasn't held water for a century or so. The reason macroscopic events appear so predictable isn't that they --must-- turn out that way... just that it's overwhelmingly likely that they will. The deterministic laws that preceded this are still useful, but even they rapidly supply provably insoluble problems (the classical three-body problem is a good example of this). As for destiny and things of that nature... sorry, not buying it. The universe just --is--. It has no underlying purpose. There is no higher power that gives a damn how the universe, or any particular bit of it, works out. Your particular path is and will be what you make of it; there's no inevitability about anything. -
Is this a real job?
Phaedrus replied to CristyCurves's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I must admit, my initial reaction to this was: "Private caller"? Why on earth are you answering in the first place? AFAIK many ladies simply don't pick up if the number is blocked, and I'm sure this kind of crap is part of the reason for that. On the "real job" thing... Of course it's a real job! I know everyone else has already said this, but still, I'll say it again. I think a lot of this comes from people who are, quite simply, jealous. They're stuck in their own tedious 9-5 drudgery, trapped there by the need to pay the bills and their own inability to move onwards and upwards (or just.... out). Sure, they could set up their own business from scratch (as SPs do), but for whatever reason they don't, and I think they envy the freedom of those who have made that leap into the unknown and found that it worked for them. And on the Shayla thing... I have to say, I was quite amused by that. I've never seen anyone commit career suicide in quite such spectacular fashion. As to whether she ever comes back or not... really, who cares? -
