  1. Would love to go! Um, as a "gent", if I can be permitted to fall under that category. ;)
  2. I hear you on that. The women I have spoken to are either lesbian or bi, so I think it would definitely be less awkward than working with a woman who has never been touched by another woman before (although that could be exciting in a way if she let go!). :)
  3. Thanks for the replies! I mentioned this site to a few lady friends and some are very curious about massages so I'll direct them to those of you who provide massages for women too. :)
  4. A while back I asked escorts if they sometimes get female clients and I was surprised to learn that a lot of them are game to provide services to women. Now, I'm wondering if MA's also see women once in a while? How many of you are open to having female clients?
  5. Hmmm, I haven't been to that club yet. Do you happen to know on what nights she works? On a side note, you can 'reserve' dancers?! I thought you had to pay per songs... how do you reserve a dancer for an amount of time.. is that just something a dancer and client negotiate?
  6. My favourite dancer at Barb's (so far, haven't been there much) is Shannon. It's hard sometimes to find a dancer that dances well for a woman but she's amazing. She lets me guide the dance in a very sensual way and I enjoy that very much.
  7. True, but I would imagine it would be easier to work with someone who is cool with the industry? Maybe it's just my personal preference. My lawyer is TOTALLY cool with it so I have no problems there. Would love it if I could get an accountant that felt the same way (even though they shouldn't.. it's kind of like seeing a doctor who's really good with treating women instead of someone who's not so great).
  8. I'll be registering a corporation very soon and will need the services of an accountant. I was wondering if any SPs have some good recommendations for accountants that are good at what they do but who are also friendly to sex workers (and of course, discrete, since I run another unrelated business)??
  9. Yes, I checked out those papers - definitely a good resource! :) It's nice to know that something exists in Ottawa. I'll be establishing the production company here but if it becomes too burdensome to try to organize shoots or find cast/crew, I may make a move to a larger centre. Either way, I want to get involved politically too because there are a lot of myths about sex work that need to be dispelled and I think we need to make it easier for people like myself to just be able to "be" without people passing judgment.
  10. Thanks for the replies! In regards to the Adult Entertainment Association of Canada, I looked them up and it looks like they're an organization that helps create regulations for strip clubs? Not sure, but I saw their name on a strip club website. Anyway, their site is outdated and isn't very helpful. I love the idea of POWER but they too have outdated info on their website. I contacted them on what appears to be an old Facebook group and got info for their mailing list... and subscribed. Other than that, what do they do? Are there monthly meetings so people can meet up and get to know each other and work towards common causes? Are there any other social events for people in this industry?
  11. Hey everyone, As some of you know, I'm just starting out in the porn industry as a director, producer and distributor. I'm creating a new porn production company in Ottawa this fall (I know, crazy eh?). A friend of mine recommended that I join this forum so I could connect with others in the industry, whether it be other porn industry professionals, escorts, dancers, sex workers, etc. Thing is, it's been a pretty isolating experience so far. I've been learning a lot from reading the threads here.. there's so much stuff I can relate to! I'd love to get some feedback or advice from women here about how you manage your professions while keeping it secretive from some people... that's been a big struggle for me. I'd also love to know if you have any connections to the porn industry here (does it even exist?). Someone has recommended that I check out POWER as a possible association to get involved with. Are there any other sex industry-related associations in Ottawa? The other reason why I'm asking to connect is because I'd like to donate a part of my profits to associations or causes that directly affect all sex workers - whether it be for legal funds or social & educational programs. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. (By the way, some dancers/escorts have expressed an interest in working for me, but if that's the case, please message me privately and not in this thread so it doesn't go off topic. Thanks!)
  12. When it comes to women who are too drunk or high, I would like to see the manager on staff get involved to prevent her from dancing or to send her home. I have seen women fall off stage, fall off chairs and fall off tables. I don't even care about how it's not good for business - it's just not safe for her and for the other dancers or clients. In regards to the other poster who mentioned that it's hard to get motivated when there are only a few guys in the bar, I totally understand that. Some women can get by because they're awesome at working the floor. But then, why have the stage shows? At one point, one thing feeds the other - maybe if the shows were better during the day, they'd bring in more clients?
  13. Hahaha, sometimes I have to go get a dancer for my guy friends because they're too shy to ask them for dances too. I don't get it, but it makes me laugh. Talk to her next time. :)
  14. I know women who enjoy this very much! But as Megan said, it takes some preparation and also lots of lubrication.. not something I'd try either but I have learned how to do it for a past partner who enjoyed that. There are books and articles about this, mostly because it's the person giving the um, fist, that needs to know what to do so they don't hurt their partner. There are angles to use and motions to try and all that. I would recommend reading up on it if you ever decide you want to try this with someone. It's not something you can just try out without knowing what you're doing. :) I don't think there's anything rude about it at all! It is just another way of enjoying sex and it can be extremely sensual if done the right way.
  15. She's the best. One of the classiest women I know. :)
  16. Haha, I learned this one the hard way. I am also used to the classic ways of clubs (I'm not originally from Ottawa). Back home, when I first explored the clubs, contact wasn't allowed in the CR (they could touch you but you couldn't touch them). But, it was also very normal to place a 5$ bill in a dancer's bra or underwear while she was dancing on stage. Almost all dancers would typically walk off stage with a few tips and the ones who gave a great performance walked away with a LOT of tips. So, here I am at a club in Ottawa and I take out a 5$ bill for one of my favourite dancers, expecting simply to slip it in her g-string.. but she tells me that I have to lay down on stage! I wasn't expecting that at all because I'd never seen it. And now, I have seen it at a few clubs here... nobody simply tips them stage-side anymore. I think that's too bad... having a customer go on stage cuts down on the performance, I find.
  17. Sadly, this happens a lot! My biggest pet peeve is a bit different because I'm a woman.. sometimes, if I strike up a great conversation with a dancer and then ask her to go to the CR (or she asks me, either way), the talking continues.. there's a bit of dancing, and then more talking....usually about womanly things... like we're old pals or something. I mean, I understand that dancing for a woman is rare and it's fun and I don't mind this behaviour if it's a free dance (which I tend to get a lot.. again, maybe because I'm a woman?). But when I'm paying for a dance, that bothers me big time. I regards to the statement about predatory behaviour, that used to bother me too, but I've learned that a lot of the time, they just want to get out of there. As long as the experience in the CR is enjoyable, I don't care if the dancer then goes on to try to get other dances. If she can just work for two hours a night doing that, then good for her. This is the commission system that she has to work within. But if she works longer and forms relationships with the patrons, it may help her more in the long term, I would imagine.
  18. I agree with you - it's a huge turn-off for me to see someone on stage who appears completely bored (or too drunk or high to the extent that it's probably becoming too dangerous for her to be up there..that makes me cringe and clubs that let that happen piss me off.. but that's another subject). Everybody has "off" days and that's totally understandable - I just won't get a dance with someone on an 'off' day... but I might buy her a drink if I know her. ;) However, I'm not sure that a woman's dance on stage is a good indication of her performance in private. I very rarely ask a woman to dance for me without seeing her stage show, but in the instances where I have been completely intrigued by a dancer just from talking with her, she was amazing in the CR (but later, when I finally got to see her on stage, the show was not impressive at all). I would say that women who give a good show on stage have to work less harder than the boring dancers to get customers to come in for private dances with them... at least that's what I've observed in the clubs. I remember one case where a dancer went all out, her show was way out there and she'd grab the hats of men in "perv's row" and wear them and the other dancers hated it! But I explained to them that it worked for the clients - the men loved her. And you're right... long eye contact and a smile from someone on-stage can be an intense experience. It always starts with eye contact. :)
  19. I'd love to hear thoughts on this.. I went to Barb's on a Monday night and it was INCREDIBLE. The stage shows were amazing that night - I would say that at least four or five dancers had a pretty elaborate routine. I didn't catch their names but I did get a few dances with Shannon because of her stage presence. In regards to feature performers and the porn industry, I would say that it's still very profitable in L.A. for performers to dance as features in clubs. In Canada, that's probably a different story unless you're in the major centres like Montreal or Toronto. I'm hoping that some of my performers will be asked to feature in clubs here but it would be great to see them get some attention elsewhere, too. If you learn of a feature show in one of the clubs here, please let me know - I'll go check it out!
  20. Yes, Ashley is fabulous - I always tell her that her muscles are sexy. ;) Speaking of feature performers, that doesn't happen much here, eh? I'm just starting out in the adult film industry (director/producer) and I'm learning that in other major cities, if the performers do well in the business, they get invited to dance as features in clubs. Would love to see that happen in this city! You're all correct in saying that the current pay structure for dancers just doesn't give them an incentive to be creative on stage. That's too bad. I would LOVE to own a club, to be honest. I'd love to try it out- change it from a predatory scene and bring it back to entertainment, pay the women salary + commissions (and health benefits, dammit) and do like any other smart business does, invest in their training and education. Why not invite dancers to take classes in belly dancing or latin dancing, why not invite design students to design costumes for exotic dancers as part of their coop, why not invite theatre students to coach dancers in drama and showmanship? Make it a grand affair and I think the money would follow. You can still please the fundamental needs of (mostly) men and give them something extra in terms of a unique offering...something more high-end, more theatrical. Just my idealistic two cents. ;) Additional Comments: Yep, you're totally right - that's why I would see this as being the responsibility of the club. They could schedule training hours for dancers to come in to practice when the club is closed to the public. Or they could offer an incentive for dancers to train elsewhere. They do it in other lines of business (like paying tuition for courses or training seminars), why not do it for dancers? Of course, I can only see this happening if dancers became employees, not independent contractors like they are now.
  21. I hear this from dancers A LOT. So here's a question then: if dancers were salaried+commissions, would that change anything? In regards to "boobs, butts and beer", my male friends are tired of the same old... are there dancers that we should keep an eye out for (because they're more artsy)? Or is there another club in Ottawa that tends to be more about performance? (I've only been to the Playmate, Barb's and Barefax... everyone is recommending Pigale, so that's my next stop). I love burlesque, too! The only thing is, you can't get a lap dance from a Burlesque dancer. For me, it's the combination of a beautiful performance and then a sensual dance that intrigues me the most.
  22. I've been going through youtube videos on pole dancing as a study in movement (stuff like this: ) and I was wondering how come there isn't more artistry to the on-stage dances at the clubs here in Ottawa? I find that the dancers that I notice the most on stage are the ones that consider their dance a presentation instead of a task. (And I know from speaking with some dancer friends that a lot of them see it as a task, mostly because it's unpaid time for the most part.. I kind of understand that). But wouldn't it benefit the dancer in the long run if she introduced more creativity in her routine? Or maybe it's too much prep time, too much investment in costumes, etc.? Guys, would you appreciate that or do you like the 'regular' on-stage shows? Personally, if I owned a club, I would even pay for dancers to take various kinds of dance classes to improve their showmanship, knowing that the more entertaining they are, the better it would be for my bottom line (and for their career).. but that's just my assumption. Thoughts?
