VISA cuts off Backpage also

CHICAGO -- Visa will not process transactions from online classified portal Backpage.com, the company announced Wednesday, after the sheriff from the second largest county in the United States asked it to end its business relationship with company for "moral, social and legal" reasons.

 

The move comes a day after MasterCard announced it had ceased doing business with Backpage after receiving a similar call to action from Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart.

There are other options to pay such as Bitcoin or Paysafe card as well as backpage credits ( haven't looked into that one). BP has revenue of $9 million a month. This is just the beginning with this site. If major credit card companies have been persuaded by a Sheriff's department to sever ties with BP, who knows what else is to come. And just as they were getting greedy jacking up the prices.. Who knows how many millions they will lose over this. I can't say I'm upset over this. It's the beginning of the end. Nothing lasts forever especially with the ridiculous prices for a sh*tty 500 character ad.

I encourage all ladies to edit their current BP ads to say something like:

 

"You can also find me on ____"

 

This way we will promote other advertising venues, like E-C, that do not charge us so much for so little.

 

Conversely, this a great time for a new site to come up. And if it's not exorbitantly priced and run by someone who gives the profits to resources like PIVOT and PACE, it will be a website most ladies would love to advertise on and promote. Don't know how realistic it is, but it's worth some thought if anyone on here is tech savvy enough...

If you wish to continue with a site that no longer offers prepaid credit cards, forget Bitcoin. It is not reliable and the currency fluctuates.

 

I looked at the Paysafe site and they are like prepaid cards but there is no card. You can buy them at Esso and Canadian Tire gas stations, Canada Post outlets and Hasty Markets.

 

Go to the cashier and ask them for a Paysafe card and they come in denominations of $10, 30, 50 and 100. The cashier will punch it into the terminal and give you a receipt with a pin number on it. Then use it for whatever site you're using it for that offers Paysafe, type in the pin and that's it. Keep this receipt until it has reached its limit.

 

If anyone has a pay-as-you-go phone where you can buy the card at the gas station, this works the exact same way.

There is also a Smartphone app where you can check your balance and while you can buy paysafe cards online, you need to go to a different site to do it but it can be done. Since Paysafe is a European site, they are out of U.S. jurisdiction for them to take any direct action and Europe is much more liberal about the adult industry as a whole. Perhaps BP was thinking one step ahead with this one. I did not see Paysafe as an option there before. I could be wrong...

I tried it and it failed as well. However, all the fields that were once required for credit card payments are still there so it looks like it's not up and running yet.

 

When BP became popular with the adult ads over 4 years ago, it only worked with certain types of prepaid cards. They fixed that.

 

Hopefully it will be cleared up soon. I even tried creating an entirely new ad and not from the past link in my email and it did the same thing.

 

If they want to keep advertisers, I'm sure that will be fixed pretty fast. I will hold onto the card I bought and wait a few days. I really do not want to have to use Bitcoin. They are not insured.

I wonder how long it will take BP to really fix this glitch with their method of payment? I sent an inquiry and never receive a response back. I remember a couple of years ago, they were soliciting us on other sites begging for us to join theirs at $2.56 with a promo code. My how times have changed and they upped the ante with their greediness. Yes they are a business and deserve to make revenue just as the next company but it was getting to be ridiculous.

I use the free ads but sometimes i do like to purchase the sponsor ads for the week or now you can cheaply move your ad to the top of the listings because the free ads are only down below in additional adds at the end of the page :)
