mod 135639 Report post Posted August 17, 2010 Need some input from the community.. again ;) We (Myself and some of the staff here) are working on a online Adult Entertainment E-Zine (Electronic magazine) specific for Canada the we hope to be launching later this year. The website is in the works and we are at the final planning stages but would like to ask you all for some input. Like cerb the intention of this magazine is not to make money but to bring traffic to our sites (cerb, escorts-canada, Localescorts, etc...) and to help the community. The reason few of these e-zines exist is because a subscription would need to be charged to be able to afford to keep a venture like this afloat (or) it would need a number of paid advertisers both of these things are not easy to come by! No one wants to pay to advertise in a magazine that is new, online magazine subscriptions are not very popular these days still (but are growing) and e-zines are not as popular for advertising as printed magazines so a new adult online magazine is a hard sell). Since we are not looking to make money from this ... that is not really a concern for us. We may include classified ads and paid ads down the road but for now the plan is a free magazine (No subscription cost) and release an issue every 3 months to start (with the hopes of having it eventually become a monthly publication). We have an editor for the magazine and the techies here (Myself included) will be maintaining the site so the overhead for us to do this is relatively low. What we need are idea's and Columnists for such things as... - Advise Column (Dear Abby / Savage Love / Etc...) - Lawyers Advise (Legal Issues - if we can find someone qualified) - Heath issues (A doctor or a nurse?) - Event Coverage in various cities (Sex shows, parities, socials) - Sex Workers Associations (News, Legal Battles, etc) - Interesting Stories (From SP's or the Guys) Other idea's we are passing around are... - Gentleman's Club Bloggers? - Featured interviews with high profile SP's - Business Basics - Finance tips (including tax tips) - Marketing your Business - Etiquette tips - How to hire a escort guide - How to spot a scam (Tin Eye, Bait and switch what to do, etc...) - Techies Tips (Websites, Hosting, Free sites, banners, etc..) - Erotic Story I have suggested that the pages turn just like a REAL magazine and be an actual publication with LIVE LINKS to active discussions. We don't want it to be like a discussion forum as that is what cerb is for. Now your turn... What would you like to see in a publication like this?? If anyone has suggestions for topics or would like to contribute to the magazine please post here or PM me! We will not have any paid columnists but I suspect a number of people will want to contribute and be a part of the e-zine. I hope others are as excited about this as we are. I know personally it would fantastic to have something like that, as there won't be whole lot to do where I'm moving at night. I love to see the techie stuff being utilized! I am sure many of the ladies (and guys) still don't know what a "podcast" is so that alone would be a GREAT topic! We would love to have a couple of the ladies contribute to columns for the industry. We are working on a list of topic idea's that we feel would appeal to the ladies and the guys (I will post at a later date) if anyone has topic idea's feel free to post them or PM them to me. mod 135639 Report post Posted August 19, 2010 I agree the site has LOTS of content and a joke or two in every issue would be nice as well.... what we don't want is to repeat content in a "copy and past" sort of way from cerb to the magazine. Just use cerb (and the other discussion boards) as references for research on certain topics... Maybe having someone do a story based on a hot topic here in each issue would be a good thing and we can tag it with "To join in the conversation and comment visit this link" (Since it is a "E-Zine" hyperlinks can be made to reference pages and discussions). I would really like to see a lawyer or course contribute and a medical professional as well. Many sites exist with actual MD's who answer heath questions but having a actual doctor or public heath nurse answer questions specifically for the magazine on health topics would be really good. I know some of the members here are lawyers and medical professionals so hopefully they want to help (We would only publish the persons REAL identity if they told us it was ok - everyone who contributes can use a alias if they wish and it can be a different alias from what they use on the discussion boards too). One of our members is a tax specialist and has offered to help out with tax Q&A's (I am very excited about this as I think it will be a HUGE help as I get asked those types of questions all the time). A videographer and music producer approached us the other day asking if we could design a website for them with a paid members access area to do 40's and 50's style black and white erotica. The video's would be like sexy pin up girls (Some men as well but the focus would be on the ladies) and the video's would be shot as erotic style music videos. It's a very interesting concept. They won't be full nude (possibly some topless images - more on the artsy side and appealing to the erotic fantasy - really high end music and video work) and some erotic stories. (Target is to be Appealing to both men and women) Got me thinking that this may be perfect for our ezine project so I ran it by them and they are interested in working together. I pitched to them that the magazine could be subscription based (ipad/android/etc..) so we are looking into what apple will allow in the apps as far as sexy videos. If anyone out here develops iphone/ipad apps and has any experience with this please let me know. We plan to use indesign to create the ezine as it has the options to publish to web/ipad/epub for output as well as print so making the ipad ezine is easy and it easily allows you to embed mp4 video as well. Do you guys/gals thing this would be good? It would be adult but not porn, have some adult stories, have some really well done videos each month with audio, have stories for our industry (Canada based) - possibly a US based on in the future. And if we can get it approved by apple we want to publish the ads on EC as classified ads on the back pages (No nudity of course as apple draws a fine line in that area). Another idea would maybe have an escort's picture featured each month almost like a front cover on a regular magazine and have an mini interview or profile done on them. You could also have SPs pay for this which may bring in some welcome revenue given the costs to run this type of site. SPs could also write stories, articles or have links to their blogs. So often the adult industry and it's subsidiary businesses and professions are looked down upon by society in general. An e-zine with positive content can only help change perceptions and attitudes. I also know quite a few ladies who's experiences and knowledge I could draw on. I think "Ask Angela" has a nice ring to it. I want it to be classy and a very positive source (Avoiding the typical media stereotype crap) If we can add contact like these video's into the magazine it would add a whole new level to the magazine. I am getting excited about that project again. The launch of the new EC system is over a month behind (was suppose to be launched at Christmas) and it's getting really close but between that and the last few month+ fighting with the cerb servers and system the magazine has been left on the shelf and it's the one thing I am really excited to work on! Talk now is that they may use the lyla.com website as the magazine site (keeping the classified ads that they have always held) and working the cerb site in as the magazine discussion board (Bringing EC/Lyla/CERB and the magazine all together on the lyla.com site) - Very exciting and I am sure lyla would love to see that too!! I think it's the perfect domain name for an elegant magazine for the industry and since it was pretty much the first escort discussion site in Canada back in 1996 it has history and still a ton of traffic. I really hope we end up using that site for the magazine and I hope this thing with the video's and pin up girls works out with it. I have no idea who they would use for the models for the video's but I bet they will have some site set up to apply. I don't want anything to do with that side of it... I just want the content. The example video I saw is amazing!! Music is REALLY good and it's SEXY!! like an erotic music video in black and white. Would be a GRREAT bonus for the digital magazine. Actually there may be some "stupid" questions that the gents may have that they really want to ask but are afraid to out of fear of looking stupid. Perhaps you could answer them seriously, but with a twist of humour if called for. It's amazing how some people "just don't know". Getting back to the thread... For example, I've met some gents who do not realize that other gents who can't achieve erection can actually orgasm and ejaculate. I suppose if it's never happened to them, they wouldn't know that. There are people out there who are looking for something more. And, as the legal issues continue to be debated, it could also be a source of positive, reliable, solid information from and about sex workers and our clients. This is so important! Too many people have bought the line that everyone in this industry is the victim of traffickers, has a drug problem and is completely trapped.
