The scandal is the conflict of interest and the fact he was basically ensuring money for nothing for his fiancé from a pretty shady business deal, not that she was an escort. It is a likely case of conflict of interest and the fact that she was an escort should play no role and I don't understand why the article even mentions her job as escort!!!. Would there be so much emphasis on her job if she was a secretary or a cashier or... More importantly lets not bring in her cousin in this (whether we remember her name or not). Their are many layers to this story the influence peddling was bad enough, then when the media discovered that his 22 year old former escort girlfriend was "running" the company selling the filters. Her age and the stigma society has with prostitution makes it hard to not to believe that a scam was afoot. This is not to say that a 22 year old escort could not operate a successful water filtration company, but really what are the odds. The key players in this story have been brought to light, relatives and other associates who have nothing to do with the story it's self should not be discussed here. There would be no real story if she wasn't an escort, and even then it is pretty minor considering this crap has gone on, with all parties, for time immemorial. The crack investigative team of APTN is on the job, I will sleep more soundly tonight knowing they are working for the Canadian taxpayer's benefit. Critics may view this as a case of guilt by association. I'm sure Harper acted swiftly when realizing this. The relationship between these two was not really a secret. I would on the other hand be suspect that this wasn't known about in government circles already, and to be fair maybe his staff didn't inform him. It's called plausable deniability.
