I seriously doubt it will close. The owner of the building will get someone to take it over. I suspect maybe the last person who was brought in to run it may have had enough and bailed while he had a chance. I heard he was having some difficulty with the building owner etc. and not making enough. Someone else will take it over. There are too few licensed places in town now, and that makes it attractive particularly as it is getting really built up in that area of Bank Street.

How so?  George ain't going to let that place go down for a myriad of reasons. He will find another sucker to front the place, it is too valuable and useful to him.

You said ”I seriously doubt it will close. ". It a major increase to his income at the hospital...  There is nothing out there for people want to rent the hotel...    The club helps fill Hotel rooms for a few hours at least.  And he'll make the club bill the girl for leaving mid day...

" I suspect maybe the last person who was brought in to run it may have had enough and bailed while he had a chance."  The owner of the Tease but heads several times with the building owner.... And he was pretty much treating the casino cab's owner as a servant.   I heard him say several times that his wife didn't know about his acquisition of the business...   I'm sure he took his opportunity to leave.

" There are too few licensed places in town now, and that makes it attractive particularly as it is getting really built up in that area of Bank Street.".  The shit hotel & owner of the hotel is what makes it unappealing.

Casinos new policies were really odd, they weren't hiring anyone who had already worked there and they implemented a Black/racialized dancer rule, I say racialized and not just Black because even Latina dancers or Asian dancers or Native dancers with a dark tan might be asked not to work based on whoever was there that day, and a weight limit. Previously, when they were Tease a lot of the appeal was that they were the only place smart enough to stand up against the Black/racialized dancer rule and that they had a variety of shapes and sizes. This was because Alanna (RIP) herself was indigenous and young,  so her mindset was more current and relevant to the adult industry in general.

Some clubs and owners have the mentality of only hiring already waif like "gorgeous" women, however a strip club is more like one big fetish party, and BBW's (and arguably racialized women) are a fetish. Additionally, a lot of curvy, thick, or BBW's are looking to get work done and plastic surgery is also another fetish. Many of the Tease patrons were interested in providing big checks for that, and actually a well known customer retired a thicker new African dancer to Toronto with a condo and new boobs to match!

Unfortunately, the racial discrimination coupled with size discrimination deterred a lot of clean and established men. The bar at Tease had a lot of great top shelf alcohol which other clubs didn't, Casino didn't have most of that alcohol -- Rumchata or Johnny Walker for example and that's another thing I noticed wasn't helping profits during my shifts there before I was called overweight when I was an hourglass well proportioned M with size L T&A. They also hired a DJ Villi@n and put him front and centre for promo instead of the dancers themselves.. but it was actually suspected that Dj Villi@n was the main one extorting dancers (ex. tried to make me pay an additional $60 for stepping foot onto the stairs of the dj booth just to welcome him to the club...) and at the very least he was a white boy who was very relaxed and comfortable with the N slur and a lot of men are educated enough to not want to support or be constantly around misogynist or racist hip hop culture. Instead of complaining they tend to just fade from the place of business, wherever it is -- learned this from experience I'm now able to understand cleaning up my act means my use of language as well.

Lastly, this isn't really a Casino point but probably more of a Canada point in my opinion -- because the face of North American strip club culture is very much the world famous Magic City Atlanta est. 1985, Blue Flame est. 1983, King of Diamonds, VLives, G5s, Ace of Spades/Ace of Diamonds etc. These places do not have racialization rules because the intention is to specifically support racialized women and put them ahead of non-racialized women just to create opportunities where there wouldn't be otherwise. And most size issues can be changed because most if not all BBW's want plastic surgery or else they wouldn't be there; additionally the average stripper pole can support up to 400pounds.. My suggestion for any club that wants to stay afloat is to copy the policies without stepping on any toes (or literally copy them and hire as much racialized dancers and BBW's as humanly possible lol). Because a business plan isn't limited to geographical location and many customers leave Ottawa, or Canada and frequent those clubs in the states because the ones here don't offer the same variety or even the same level of higher distinguished thought with regards to social politics and what's current -- and what's current right now is voters rights, LGBT+ rights, fighting against sizism, stocks, women's rights, and beyond all that: women who are smart and can hold a conversation about more than T&A.

I would have guessed the club is on city services but maybe it was a septic tank...

Goose, I took a picture for you the other week... but it wasn't of the excavation!

It may have been on city water, but trust me on this, it was definitely on septic. But as things build up in that area maybe they will run sewers down Bank?

Yeah I suppose that makes sense. In the mid 60s we had close family friends who lived on a short street next to the Rideau river between what's now Heron and Hog's Back off Prince of Wales and I recall the uproar when they had red dye show up in their well water which got there via the neighbour's septic system. They had been reluctant to switch over to city water, lol. I wonder now whether that event pushed me to my career consulting as a hydrogeologist.

You're on the money there. lol! Other contributing influences include the fact that @waterrat was already in use as well as the influence of 'The Wind in the Willows': What the Water Rat said to the Mole: “Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing–absolutely nothing–half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.”

My reference is to the 3rd Canadian Division who were fighting the Nazis in The Netherlands. The Germans flooded the ground to slow or drown the Canadians. The Canadians overcame adversity. The Nazis called them water rats. The Canadians kept the moniker. My dad was one of them. Years later I saw a veteran's licence plate and it paid homage to them too. He was not there but I still left a thank you note.

I stayed at that adjacent motel a couple of times, each time had to pay Cash as Debit card is not available there, I assume cause of some "issues" ?

I doubt it will close permanently and you can see my previous comments why. As for the debit machine, you have to pay a fee to have one of those and knowing the owner he would probably rather not invest in a debit/CC machine.  It is more of a cash-only business anyway.

Yeah, I only use cash at a club as it's the only way things work for the ladies..... have had to resort to an ATM before though never at Tease.... managed to stay on budget, even though it took some self control. Also managed to avoid any 'sperm of the moment' decisions at the club leading to visiting the motel but I can see cash being the only option there too.

Nowadays, as more and more casinos are online than offline you should have strong self-control to not lose all your money. Moreover, there are a lot more scammers online, so you should be very attentive to where you play. This is why I read many reviews before choosing a site, as I don't want to waste my money.

Where's the link? There's supposed to be a sketch AF link in this message somewhere to push me toward an online gambling site that will steal my credit card info and personal data.

Anyone have any idea if Jewel is still dancing and where?  Thx

I understand from someone who has been in contact with her that she is not dancing anywhere right now, but that she anticipates Casino opening again and she would return.  But again all speculation although she may know the owner better. When I drove by there last week there were dumpsters in the middle of the parking lot, and a lot of Used cars from the lot next door in the parking area. Not sure what that means.

I stumbled upon this thread and I just had to chime in. I know it's been 3 years since the last post, but I wanted to share my experience with Sector 777 Casino since it seems to fit the topic. I'm glad to hear that the Casino Cabaret in Ottawa is looking good these days! It's always exciting to see a place get a much-needed makeover.

It has reopened as Vegas Island. I dropped by as I noticed the "reopening" when I was heading back from the Casino. It was quiet at 3pm, only 2 girls there and maybe 3 or 4 guys. Got a dance from an ebony named Christine who was pretty liberal in the CR. Anyway, nice to see there is another option in the city.
