I noticed in the therapeutic section of CL that the vast majority are erotic now. It's a little unfortunate as I can see how inconvenient it would be to find a real therapeutic massage anymore. CL's own policy is at fault here, they should've never shutdown their adult services section here in Canada, as there was no real crackdown from the governments here, and it was all just an America-only brouhaha, as usual.

I too have noticed that very soon after the Erotic Ad. Sections were shut down. The ads. seem to shift over to the Therapeutic Section gradually.

 

I must admit though, I haven't been on CL for a long long time - who needs CL when we have cerb.? :biggrin:

Sorry did not review the CL listings, so my apologies in advance if I offend any ladies...BUT-why the hell would you advertise on a list that is associated with sleaze....Prior to the erotic category shut down, ok I get that-it was alright..but NOW...I don`t know, it just seems tacky IMO

Well.

 

I will attempt to not be seriously offended by your assumptions about CL. I don't see any need for it, especially by someone who doesn't use CL. There is nothing wrong with it or any other advertising site, just because from time to time, unsavoury characters post ads. Unsavoury characters have always posted ads, everywhere, and indeed will even pay for their advertising, so that is nothing new. When the CL ES category was closed, everyone started trash talking (and still does) back page ads and advertisers.

 

It is really tiresome. Posting on a site doesn't make an sp a less worthy than the sps who do not. Posting on a popular site with a lot of potential clients makes them savvy business professionals, imo.

 

The TS is a services section. Anyone who offers massage sessions, even erotic or tantric ones, should not be ashamed of using that section. We are offering a business service as well. If someone is posting in casual encounters, as an sp, trolling for clients, now that is inexcusable and unprofessional, imo.

 

An sp who wants clients will utilize all of the sites that will attract them to her. For anyone outside of eastern Canada, cerb advertising, while free, is not really a viable option. I love cerb, and do post ads here, but I don't expect any clients from it. I do regularly get great clients from CL tho, of course. :)

Since this was in the Ottawa discussion, I presumed we were talking about the Ottawa section of CL in the therapeutic services section....

 

Everything I am saying in regards to CL is strictly regarding Ottawa as this is the only city that I work in and am concerned about when it comes to clients.

 

As I said earlier, I did not take a look at CL to see who was advertising-I did now, and I apologize because I see there are many well established sps and mps that are now advertising in this section, I myself will not because I personally choose not to put my ads in a section where I personally think they do not belong-if CL closed their adult services section, am I wrong to presume that they do not want sp's using their therapeutic services section to advertise?

 

After CL adult services closed, here in Ottawa...it was known for shady/suspect individuals posting their services after this AS section was closed, another reason, I personally do not see as a good idea to advertise in.

 

I have no idea how things work in Vancouver when it comes to advertising.

 

If CL brings you good clients, then that is great-and now that you have informed me, I do not dispute this, but here in Ottawa, I do not think it is the same.

I think my point was that you can choose not to use if for your own reasons, but I just get tired of the auto assumptions about the value of the sps who post there, and the clients who use it based on nothing but listening to rumours and posts from others.

 

I don't think it matters what city one is in, I have seen the same sort of remarks and claims about CL from any city. imo, the claims and statements are far too general and sweeping, and as you could tell from simply looking at it, untrue.

 

I accept your decision not to use it because it is not specified for adult services. But as many of us offer massage sessions, albeit with happy endings, there is no reason why an mp wouldn't want to use it for advertising.

 

For someone seeking services, they only need to look at whether the advertiser has chosen 'licensed' or 'unlicensed' to see if they are RMT/CMT vs sensual massage. (I have to say tho that when the ES was removed, I expected the it's-easy-to-trash-CL-talk to go away lol)

Originally, my only point was whether it was right for this section of CL to be taken over for advertising services that it was specifically designed to avoid advertisements from. There was no implication made about the quality of the advertisers here.

 

The reason CL decided to stop advertising adult services was as a result of threats from the US government. It first eliminated the adult services in the States, and then it made this a mandatory directive throughout the world. It had nothing to do with whether the advertisers in this section were "shady". It was just a corporate directive worldwide.
