Fresh start 17467 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 Technology today had changed a lot in the past couple of decades. Most of us have growned dependant to it some probably couldn't live without. Wether its computer, cell phones, other electronics, cosmetics anything you can't live without what is it? Personally my iphone would be one of those things. Use for work Email Internet Main way I go on cerb. Banking As dumb as it sounds my heated/cooling leather car seats. First vehicle I've had that had them but I absolutely love it. I've had times in Guatemala and in Australia where there was literally no technology, and it was wonderful. Your brain relaxes. You pick up a book for entertainment. It helps me start my day, work out, have a great time at parties and get-togethers, dance (haha obviously lol), relax and chill, and sleep at night. I like all kinds but mainly house, electro, trance, and 80's rock & pop. This is a great idea for a thread btw. It's an awesome icebreaker and a good way to get to know people :). The other thing is this board. The people and interaction here make it easy to obtain and share information and it is greatly appreciated. Plus, it drives me crazy when I can't think of an actor's name, so I'd miss IMDB. And porn. The internet, kind of addicted I think Not really a tech thing, but a flat iron, have to have one of those, my hair is straight but I've become a flat iron addict. spud271 47779 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 I can easily live without it all and have before. Not a massive fan of technology, I mostly put up with it rather than embrace it. I still prefer a map and compass over a gps, actually cook something on the stove than use the microwave...etc. Not that I don't have all the gadgets, but I can easily live without them. Specially since they have become important tools for Work .. also to add the fact that my family all live miles away and these tools give me the posibility of being in touch with them.. I can't remember the last time I watched a commercial (aside from live sports which really should be viewed live)! That is the one thing I couldn't live without. Mister T 45020 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 While i'm pretty much glued to my smartphone and the net (they're great to pick up news on the go or pay bills, do a bit of research), being recently away from it all for a week made me just slow down and relax. I hadn't read a complete book for a long while. Its just great feeling to set those aside once in a while. I have to admit, though, having my entire music collection on my laptop is great; it makes it easy to find something without thumbing through a pile of cd's. Having grown up with tv, I've dumped cable a few months ago and am quite happy to be living without it. Elevators - I hate stairs and can't imagine carrying groceries up to my kitchen. Keurig - For the first time in my life, I have drinkable coffee that I MADE! Dishwasher - My kitchen would never be clean iPod - I love the selection and ease. I'm pretty sure I could quickly adapt back to the ancient ways if all of these technological advances disappeared. In fact, I'd probably be better for it. Watching TV, googling, and texting at the same time has left me with the attention span of a fruit fly. I find at times I struggle even to finish a sente One thing I would hate to lose is the digital camera. I love taking photos, and while I think I have a decent eye, my photography skills aren't great. I do not miss the days of getting back the prints of a 24 exposure film and finding one decent pic. I have a $45 digital antenna on my roof, I pick up 18 free full-spectrum HD channels. Image resolution is stunning, nothing like the compressed signal you get via cable or satellite. My books, my magazines, my music, my direct means of communication to my friends and loved ones - all wrapped up in an easily transportable package. Why would I choose to go without it? I have quite a few electric guitars and a couple of amplifiers, yet I prefer playing my acoustic guitars. I listen to the radio in the mornings to get caught up on the news, weather and sports, but it's not necessary. I can live without politics. I used to have access to a small cottage near a river years ago. It didn't even have indoor plumbing, only electricity....I always enjoyed my time there without much of anything. I'm happy reading a good book or sitting quietly enjoying nature. Wilderness camping is wonderful as well. It's nice just to get away from it all.
