Funny terms for Lyla's ladies

Recommended Posts

After what I like to call my 'forced transition', I am no longer an S-court. Thanks Overlord Harper!

So I'm digging around for new job descriptions and found the following:

'Sausage Wallet'- from the Elizabethan era.

and 'Lady of Ultimate Accessibility' from a polite member of the Yukon RCMP to describe the ladies of the Klondike's Red Light District, circa 1899.

Any others?

Love, Sausage Wallet Silver.

I have found the odd word ''Retinue''... English is my second language so it is always a delight for me to discover new words. But this one is really bizarre!

http://www.thesaurus.com/browse/escort

That's cool Mia, it's a new one for me! What's your first language?

I like the Sin City terms- 'dame' is the best! A bit more feisty than Dame Judi Dench though.

I've seen "Lady of the night" in various literary sources (can't remember which at the moment). Given not all is done at night, it feels out of place and seems funny (to me at least).

Retinue is one i have seen as well. Its use goes back to old french (middle french) - as a source meaning to retain ... a group of retainers or attendants depending of context. I think it has uses dating back to middle english too.

Hi Cara ;-) My first language is French (from Normandie, France, well-known region for its cows, cheese, apples, alcohol... and the second world war beaches, of course :-)

Metalsmith: I have no clue if ''retinue'' is for a single person or a group. I am still working on trying to integrate it as a real word in my English as a second language. I looooove words.

I could make up a new term for an escort: I am an ''Ingenue Retinue''. What about this?

For some it may apply, but not for everyone ... a wench!

I LOVE this word, it's so funny!

Additional Comments:

Another good one is strumpet. Sounds like a musical instrument and a delicious breakfast! (crumpet.)

Gene Simmons of KISS wrote a book about this industry, and funny enough, he named the book "Ladies Of The Night".

I haven't read it yet, but im sure it would be a very interesting book.

Ah ah ah... I often play <<strumpet>> ;-)

Love that one!

Strumpet is a Peter MacKay. He's been quoted using that one. Claimed he will get rid of all strumpets one by one. Good luck with that!

Inamorata.

That's a word I am using on my new website and in my new ads. Kate von Katz... your ineffable inamorata....

Classy, motherfuckers :D

Oh my god this made me laugh :) Classy, motherfuckers! hahahahha

I'm inspired by your 'i' words and will now start calling myself "Illuminati Lady."

Illumilady, if you will!

Additional Comments:

VAMP! Vamp is an awesome word. I always thought Jessica Rabbit was the epitome of a vamp. But how did she that dress to stay up?

Ha ha ha... I don't take myself too seriously. :D

Vamp is good! Reminds me of Morticia Addams and the old goth queens.

Muse is another good one to use. A gentleman's muse... has an elegant ring to it.

Really, more than ever using a thesaurus is handy and almost a requirement with the linguistic tricks we have to pull to convey the gist of what we're about these days.

Ew- I immediately thought of a pipe cleaner, or a chimney sweep :) Terrible image.

I suggest nymphet instead!
