While I think we all expected the Conservatives to form the next government, I think most of us were expecting them to form yet another Minority one, with the Liberals and NDP spliting the Opposition. But I doubt too many of us were expecting such a drastic final result at the end of such an unremarkable campaign. The strength of the Conservative victory, the historic finish of the NDP and the historic collapse of the Liberals and the near destruction of the Bloc. There will be a lot of disappointed people in the following weeks, and a lot of happy ones as well, but what we all must do in the months and years following is watch and protect our hard won liberties and freedoms, and that should be the case no matter who wins. While I have never subsribed to the theory that any party has a "hidden" or secret agenda, as citizens', our job doesn't end after an election, but our responsibility is to always remain vigilant. Apathy and disinterest are greater evils than ignorance and discord. It doesn't matter who you voted for or who you support, we must always be responsible for portecting and preserving the ideals of our society. That is the true price of of living in a great and civilized democracy.

I say this in good fun but at the same time I hope it gives everyone something to think about. You want us to visit and we do. When we arrive you can't see us due to bad timing, work, sick cat, dog, etc. There is always time in the day to make it to other appointments like the doctor, dentist or dry cleaner. Do we ladies that travel not provide much more enjoyment than any of the above? When your prayers are answered and we arrive, please make the time and come out and support us. Otherwise whatever area you are in will not have any visiting ladies and there will be much less love in the world.

I am not sure Why you quoted me with your comments Apex!!!!????. I never said I didn't get up to vote. After work before I did anything else, I headed to my polling station and voted. I never said 61% of people did not vote!!!!!. I said 61% of those voted did not vote for conservatives but other parties because they did not want conservative agenda and I was saying that the conservatives must respect the will of majority and do not go ahead with a possible right wing religious agenda that they may have. Yes hopefully it is.I am more against the Bloc than cons. The cons have an idealogy different to mine (I strongly believe in equality, freedom of choice and human rights, in particular women's right...) and I respect theirs even though different with mine, but Bloc stands for division and destruction. I do NOT respect that.

Well, as a minority governing party they consistently showed contempt for the Parliament. I have a hard time imagining they will show more respect for democratic institutions with a majority. They have gained control of the Senate and will likely do their utmost to strenghten that for a long time...

When I first started in the business, I was 35 years old and the agency I worked for, listed my age as 29 because they said no one would want to see a lady in her 30s. Since becoming an indie in 1998, I have trimmed 3-5 years off my age, but last year I decided I was going to go with my real age. I don't now if 50 is the magic number, but it certainly has helped increase my business if anything. I look at this way - in terms of competition, I have 5 ladies to compete with instead of 500 - lol. As the baby boomers age, I suspect my services will continue to be in demand. I have no intention of slowing down. As long as that phone keeps ringing, I'm staying in the game.

When I first started working, I dived in headfirst and did zero research. I was already seeing clients in my home before I even realized it was illegal and before I even knew escort review boards existed. And I really barely even knew about Craigslist, so I didn't even have much for comparison in the way of going rates. As a result, my first rates were super cheap and by the act, rather than the time. Then I learned very quickly that if you charge by the act, you could be there for ages because guys will take advantage of your time if there is no time limit. I posted mostly on Craigslist and was frustrated by the responses and the constant questions and back and forth emails and I eventually ended up with the Playgirls because I didn't want to deal with any of the administration stuff. From there, I found out about the various review boards and started reading up about the work and talking to other providers and so forth. By the time that I was working both independently doing incalls and for the Playgirls doing outcalls, I had a pretty good idea of what the going rates were in Ottawa and for my particular niche and since then not much as changed, except that I got into fetish work (which I charge more for, because it is more work and because I can afford to charge more--there are lots of fetish requests, but few providers). I do not think that those who charge less are degrading themselves, and these days I barely even pay attention to other SP's rates. The worst thing you can do in this business (I think) is compare yourself to others. You will always end up falling short, because you are your own worst critic. Edit: I realized this was kind of unclear, but my general point was, the only time you really need to check out others' rates is if you are new and just starting and have no idea what going rates are. Once you're settled and have a bit more experience under your belt, then it doesn't make much sense to compare yourself.

I recently went home to Quebec City for the week, and while eating dinner with family members, my uncle mentioned seeing a sex worker while he was in Cuba (he used the term 'prostitute', of course). The tone of the conversation was light, and many family members were teasing him because he was intoxicated when he saw her. His intoxication resulted in him penetrating her anally without her consent. The situation was 'funny' because he didn't understand why he smelled like shit until getting back to the hotel. It is small solace to know that she stole all his stuff afterward (a small act of resistance that makes me hope she's ok). I was extremely upset at the candid nature with which my family blatantly accepted this series of events. Their tacit complicity was rather revolting and yet, I'm not willing to say they're 'bad people'. There are way too many factors to take into consideration when trying to understand why something like this is 'celebrated'. There are many differences (many) between sex work in Canada, and sex tourism (although I'm not willing to hierarchasize one as 'more' emancipated than the other). People need to take into consideration things like the global political economy that enables these kinds of environments in the first place, the World Bank, and IMF (and their loaning policies), state complicity in the promotion of sex tourism, patriarchy/misogyny in 'home' states, the fetishization/eroticization of the sexual 'other', racism, a disregard for the lives of certain 'types' of people ('prostitutes' and people of colour, for example) Like I said in a different post (http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=219900#post219900), I'm not willing to say women have no sexual agency, even under conditions of extreme poverty and exploitation. Although I'm not expecting people to admit to engaging in sex tourism (especially after I framed it so negatively by bringing up my recent encounter with it), I wonder what people think about the differences between sex tourism and seeing an escort locally. Please comment on anything I've mentioned that peaks your interest. All of these issues are really important in my opinion.
