I had a travelling SP share a story with me once. Had a regular patron visit her. Seen this guy a few times over the years. She considered him a regular. He walks in, places the donation on the dresser, and they go through their normal routine. At the end, they're doing the normal chit chat and once he's finished getting dressed, he grabs the cash and bolts out the door. It's as easy as that. Now this SP doesn't come back to NS or hasn't been back here since that happened on her last trip. If you ask me, that's sexual assaults as well as theft. She didn't just get robbed, she was raped

This really does help me understand better and it does make it worse. I guess the courts don't factor this in due to the complexity of human relations. For example, a shit ton of sex recieves consent on the assumption of implied or explicit promises that are false. We might think of "I'll love you forever" from a dude that has no intention of loving her the next morning. But then there's also people making commitments that they're committed to in the moment "I'll leave my husband" but think differently about after the event. But in the very cut and dried space of sex worker client relations it's not this complicated and consent being conditional on payment, and then payment being withheld means the client had non consensual sex with the provider, which is... fucked up to say the least. This is a really important layer which wasn't in my head, thanks for cluing me in.

I would assume that many (likely most) providers have HSV as it is both very common, and common to have no visible symptoms. So long as there are no symptoms of an outbreak (visible and felt by the person with it), the risk is relatively low, but never zero. BTW, a standard STI screen will not test for HSV, so just because your last test came back clean doesn't mean that you are HSV clear. Finally, always use protection, and have a good look down there before intercourse.

Sorry for doing this so late but I did visit Mia in Moncton last month when she was in town. It took a bit for her to get back to me as she was actually mid trip, I believe.
