Please help - Vibe Spa attendants
Phaedrus replied to zagarof2005's topic in Ottawa Discussion - Massage
With that "Report Abuse" button. You get to say why you're reporting the post, and then... it gets to Mod, somehow. -
I can't help but notice the similarity between this thread and the one at https://www.lyla.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=213779, despite the fact that they appear to come from two different accounts....

This button is your friend: Seriously... use it. Mod doesn't read everything on this board as he simply doesn't have the time, so when suspicious stuff crops up - or things that are against the site rules - he probably won't see it, unless someone flags it for him to look at. But no need to bother with this thread now, 'cos I've just done it :)- 10 replies

Omar Khadr, Sex Workers, and the Government
Phaedrus replied to bcguy42's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
That just makes him a trained soldier. It doesn't make him a terrorist. The worst accusation that I've seen aimed at Omar Khadr is that he killed an enemy soldier on a battlefield. That's not a crime; it's what happens during wars. To return to the original point... The problem is that you're looking for the consistent world-view. There isn't any; what matters is what's politically expedient. In Omar Khadr's case, it's trying to demonize him and scare everyone into permitting more power for the government to "keep us safe" (have a look at the abomination that is C-51 and has just passed the Commons). In the case of sex workers it's the expediency of throwing a bone to the base on an issue that a lot of voters won't remember and punish them for at the ballot-box. Sad, but there it is... -
Massage parlour, body rub investigation leads to 11 deportations
Phaedrus replied to Escapefromstress's topic in In the news
Yep. I'm sure there are plenty of people working who technically shouldn't be in all sorts of professions who could be subject to the same measures if someone in authority chose to do so. This sounds to me like a bylaw investigation that progressed into a "What else can we hit them with?" situation. -
Mosquito sperm have a sense of smell. That's all, really. Who knew sperm could smell?

You can report PMs in much the same way that you report posts. Perhaps it'd be worth doing so, and then maybe troublesome members can be warned off, and if they don't improve they might feel the gentle caress of Mod's Banhammer.... -
OK, now I'm intrigued. What's a Tijuana donkey show? I'd google it, but it crosses my mind that what has been seen cannot be unseen...

A question for the men about clothing
Phaedrus replied to MickeyG's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I've always thought that schoolgirl outfits look silly on anyone who's not young enough to pass for a schoolgirl. And even on quite a few bona fide schoolgirls, come to that. But that's just my opinion... Both are best dripping... the one fresh from the ocean, the other fresh from the shower (preferably taken with me). That *was* what he meant, right? -
Turn-offs for a lady
Phaedrus replied to Exotic Touch Danielle's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I've heard that this is far less rare than most of us would like to think. Apparently there's a number of guys out there who think that if you ask for doggy, she won't notice if you whip the condom off just before you go for it. Needless to say, the ladies are wise to this one. -

Go to the other user's profile, and look at the menu bar just under their name. You'll see an option called "User lists". Click this, and you'll get three options, one of which is "ignore user". That means you won't see their posts and they can't PM you (I think), but I'm not sure what it means for their ability to see your profile/posts. -
It depends who's playing you in the TV adaption.

Divulging your name
Phaedrus replied to CristyCurves's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Absolutely. I'm not concerned about anyone deliberately disclosing contact information or anything like that; I'm more concerned about what happens when a lady loses her phone, or puts the Facebook app on her work phone (you *do* all know what happens when you do that, don't you?), or a third party gets in and goes on a fishing expedition. Call me paranoid if you like... but that's why Phaedrus has his own email and phone number. Also: I'd love to assume that anyone we give any contact details to will be professional, responsible and discreet and delete them when they're done with, but... unfortunately this world contains quite a lot of people who are unprofessional, irresponsible and indiscreet. Some of them are involved in this industry, on both sides. Reminders don't hurt :) -
She has a reco thread at http://www.lyla.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?ltr=E&t=12051. She travels a lot, so she may well have other reco threads in other cities' sections if you feel inclined to search.

Divulging your name
Phaedrus replied to CristyCurves's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Out of interest... I know this has always been the case (this is far from the first thread on this) but... has it become worse since the laws changed before Christmas? Absolutely. I really, REALLY hope that all the ladies that ask for names, contact details and other personal information make damn sure they get rid of it once the meeting has been satisfactorily concluded. -

Its Time To Say Goodbye For Awhile

Farewell, Excaliber! Hope to catch up with you in the future! -
Remember, everything can be fixed with either duct tape or WD-40. If you want a more permanent solution to being seen, putting one of these over the camera is low-tech but very effective. I suggest you try the tape first :) Of course, you'd probably then find there's goop on the lens when you want to actually use the camera again. Masking tape may work better...

I barely look at them at all. Half the time I forget they exist (the site's design doesn't make them immediately obvious, nor which ones have unread content) and the rest of the time I've probably spent enough time on the forums.

I think you're conflating two situations here. There's also an issue with visibility. The ladies (and guys) to whom the new laws make no difference are the indoor workers, especially the independent ones, and their clients. They can still meet and have fun much as they did before. Different aspects of what they're doing may now be technically illegal, but that makes no difference. There are inconveniences (advertizing has become trickier, as has screening) but these can be worked around, especially by an established escort. We hear a lot from those people here, because those people make up the bulk of the population of this board. The harm, as with most laws like this, is visited primarily on those without the resources to work around the laws; in particular, the street workers. I don't suppose advertizing is an issue for them, but screening is another matter entirely; the new laws have made potential clients more nervous, which makes it that much harder for the street worker to make sure she's not getting into a car with the next Robert Pickton. The sex-work organizations are far more cognizant of these problems than the likes of us; in particular, we don't hear from the people most affected by the new laws because they don't post here. I am also unwilling to call it. This will play out over years, not weeks or months. I do not see this, particularly. Sure, there were changes when the new law went into effect, and adjustments will continue to be made, but I don't see anything major. LE continue to do occasional sweeps to generate some headlines and convince the pearl-clutchers that Something Is Being Done, but they did that with the old laws too. There's a lot of bad jobs out there. What you're talking about here is less sex work in particular, and more wholesale changes to society. It's time to make a confession: I'm guilty of exploiting someone else's economic circumstances. I pay a woman, on a regular basis, to do something that I'm ashamed to say I just can't face doing for myself, and which I'd certainly never do for anyone else unless I were truly desperate. I don't know whether she enjoys it, or whether it's what she wants to be doing with her life; I don't know how much of the money I give her she keeps and how much goes to the guy who I call to arrange her visits. She cleans my house.
