"CERB" was the previous name of this website (Lyla.ch) before it was moved offshore due to the new prostitution laws. I believe it stood for "Canada Escort Review Board".

Yes. And a minor tweak to emphasize the approach in this community: "Canada Escort Review Board" - I think it was 'Recommendation' board, as opposed to 'review'.

You just beat me to the punch. By making it about recommendations, it minimizes negativity.

Actually not a minor tweek, it's a major point...big difference between recommendations and reviews

In fact it is still in Lyla rules under the Rules and Welcome Letter                                                                "Post only positive recommendations. This is not a review board!"

Good question and good answers

It's my understanding that the site originated as lyla.com back in the late 90's.  This predates me here but I remember reading this at some point. It was already cerb.ca when I started here almost a decade ago. The new laws in 2014 made it risky to have a .ca site of this nature. Since they already owned the lyla.com domain, they switched back. (Simple 4 letter ".com" domain names that are spelled as they sound are hard to come by these days.)

Again, just telling it as I remember it being explained when they made the switch back to lyla.com.  Someone correct me if I am wrong on the details. 🙂

It would be interesting to hear if anyone has a more detailed history.

Thanks for tracking down this link RG. An update to the mod's post in that thread: 'Joyful Spirit', whom he refers to, is now board member JoyfulC. While we haven't heard from her in the past few months I will always hold her with the greatest appreciation and respect.

Ditto.  This site and, therefore indirectly JoyfulC has been instrumental in the large majority of my hobby experiences.
