Thank you SO much for this lovely review of me and my business. I always say it takes two to tango- the better the client, the better the SP. We thrive off respectful, fun, appreciative clients.

You are so amazing, I have seen you a few times and always run over a bit! Rates are fair and I always tip a bit. This individual probably asks his lawyer, accountant or other professionals for a discount. I learned may years ago when dealing with a true professional you get what you pay for! And since you are a true professional and one of the best in the business just forget about those with little or no respect! WE all love you ! Keep up the good work!!!!

It is rather selfish and egocentric to attempt to undermine another's service and value. People need to take a step back and examine what it is that they are buying. Amelia, Emma, and all of these other amazing extraordinary women are providing a service. Not a used car, a lawnmower at a yard sale, or a matching washer and dryer in the Bargain Hunter. The key word here is service. It is just bad behavior and it demonstrates the commodification of human life.

Those who seek services should pay attention to a lot of what has been said on the board here. In my opinion, people seem to view service providers and think that they are desperate or something silly like that, or that the market is completely saturated so everyone in this particular industry should take a best offer. If I was providing a service in, oh, let's say engine repair, and a someone approached me and told me that they are only willing to pay half of what I would charge, I would tell the person to fack off. Seriously.

Just thought I would throw my two cents in here (No, I am not haggling) :butt:

just charge by the inch then men will pay more because they won't amit to how small it is lol

Are you kidding? There will be guys lined up around the block either telling the truth for the first time in their lfe, or saying 1.5 inches and then trying to haggle whether or not she meant hard or soft ;)

I never would I have imagined to ask for a discount!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I made a comment about CL and that has appeared to have offended some of the wonderful ladies who do use that service and some of the nice guys the search through it.

I do apologize, my foot in mouth disease has taken effect.

and by all mean I just mean that asking for a discount from a posted rate was crass and demeaning, not that CL was.

again I apologize.

that's ok to do it on cl?

Lot of us, on CERB (including myself) are still advertising on CL... Do our time or sevice worth less then the others?

See, that's exactly what this thread is about...

No matter where you find the ad, even if the girl seems to be a crackhead, or that it's a filthy place, DO NOT DEAL...

You take it or you don't...

(Eventhough I advertise on CL does'nt meen my place is not VERY clean and safe, and I'm not a drug user...)

I never would I have imagined to ask for a discount! direct them to CL!

I agree with GH. It's demeaning to introduce a negotiating element in this environment where the rates are upfront. Street people I think is a different environment as they don't have posted rates and therefore this leads to negotiating as the initial conversation flows...

Just so it is clear

it was my bad attempt at humour.

this post was about asking for discounts and I misdirected it to CL.

I have removed the offending comment and apologized.

How many guys do you think are thinking the same thing?

Our rant is about:

1- Being pretty;

2- Being polite (especially with assholes...);

3- Keep the BEST service;

4- Being sober (even when everyone's partying);

5- Having an decent hotel room for incalls (or car for aoutcalls);

6- Dealing with maids and hotel managers;

7- Dealing with our families;

8- Be psychologicly ready (different guys, different taste, different attitudes... It is not always going well with the guy before you...);

9- Dealing with our health (for myself, tested every month...);

10- Dealing with our parsonnal life (we do have one too...)...

Those are 10 of the million little things e have to take care about, usually in half an hour notice (and I'm not talking about no-shows)...

Dealing my time, NO WAY...

after the initial "my prices are firm" I have received objections from new clients saying things such as:

"but $100 is all I have!!" (if u only have $100 to you name, should u be hiring an escort?.....hm)

"seriously.....do you want to make money or not?" (to which i answer "I already do, thank you" *click*)

I totally agree with Cat, that after a polite no....if the envelope is pushed, prepare to get the not so nice side of us....or be told why we dont bend our rules (for the more patient girls out there)...or just plain be hung up on.

if we were a kiosk in Bali, you could barter....but even those kiosks selling cheap souvenirs start at high prices...only difference is we dont raise our prices because we're taking clients for a tourist fool.....those are just our prices. and just because you walk away does not mean we are going to call after you to come back with a lower price. ;)

(sorry....travelers metaphor. lol)

wow--while I frequently simply provide the stated rate (when service is merely adequate) it would never ocur to me to ask for a discount (either before or after)!! wow

With a really good service provider (and I have seen Amelia enough to know she is exceptionally good) I like to tip to show my appreciation. On some occasions I have been so wowed that my most fervent wish was to be wealthier so I could freaking give more

Anyone asking for a discount is freaking missing the point entirely --

Argh we're back to this again?

1.There are a lot of people in this world who want to get everything for nothing. (Yard Sale Mentality)

2. There a lot of people who think the prices are padded to allow for negotiation (Used Car and House buyers Mentality)

3. There are a lot of people who have the attitude of "nothing ventured, nothing gained." ("Keep asking if you get one yes you're ahead of the game" Mentality)

Sps need to have the "Doctors and Lawyers Mentality" i.e. "I am a professional and those are my rates...they are non-negotiable."

Some professionals are more competent than others and their reputations and rates reflect that fact.

Any "SERVICE" based business should have that mentality! Everything else is TANGIBLE.

When you "bargain" someone for a service you are negotiating the quality of that service. (Could be time spent on the service, could be "extra's, could be effort, etc...) but you can be sure your not going to get the same effort as you would if you did not devalue the service and pay the asking price.

With the ladies you are asking them to lower their self worth! It's not nice and in many cases if she agrees to it she is NOT going to be too happy about it as you are taking advantage of her now - so your not really going to get a full effort!

Basically if you don't like the price she puts on her services you find someone else in your budget. If you try to bargain with the ladies your just being an ass.

I quite agree. It would be putting negative energy into what should be a mutually beneficial experience. What I find about the hagglers is that they themselves refuse to compromise in any way. If offered an option of services, time or whatever that matches the rate they are suggesting, they won't even consider it. In fact, they begin to ask for increased services or more time, etc, for this wonderfully lower rate.

The bottom line is that if you do agree to a lower rate, for whatever reason, with these individuals they are the worst sort of demanding and arrogant client that you would instantly regret it and vow to never see them again, and so on. One sp I used to know would do "specials" every now and then, about 25 off her half hour rate. Sure enough, some asshat would call up and offer 50 off her half hour rate instead. The sale price was telling him she is desperate for biz and willing to negotiate even lower rates, when in reality it was that she wanted to work hard for a day or two before helping a friend move. She indicated that having tried the "specials" a couple of times, she would never ever do it again because of these lowballers calling up and looking for her to agree to an even lower rate.

On another board, there were comments about the services sps offer as "commodities", which is quite offensive. Or that because some sps charge lower rates, then everyone should "or else" they will lose business for sure. One comment I thought of at the time was that sps always choose who they are going to see, and who they will not. And clearly the lowertheprice types are getting refused left right and centre, and they are the ones with fewer and fewer options available to them, whereas the sp is happily seeing the clients who are happily paying the posted rates.

extremely well put mod and fortunateone.

I had a caller today...ask about all my restrictions very politely and then ask:

"are your prices reasonable?"

I was kinda stumped because this has actually never been a question (at least in this form) I've been faced with.

what is "reasonable"???

I then said, "well, value is in the eye of the beholder, and we all know you get what you pay for". he chuckled and agreed...he was obviously nervous and said he was a part time student etc.....I had to cut him off nicely tho and I told him my rate and that it was firm and he politely said "oh my! ok well sorry to have taken your time, thank you"

I said "no worries" as thats probably the most polite reply to my rates I've received in a long time.

still....i got off the phone and thought to myself....'reasonable rate?' ...?

Well, given that there are some ladies that have rates ranging from $500 to $5000 per hour, you could have said your rate was extremely reasonable ;) Especially considering the stellar experience you provide!

I have never asked for a discount or assumed I would paying anything other than the posted rate. After all, I can decide to engage her services or not before I call, or in cases where I have had to call and ask for a price, I can still politely decline.

On the other hand, when the "up-sell" comes, any inhibitions I may have had with regards to negotiating are out the window. There is a reason I like South America and the far-east. There negotiation is much like foreplay. I probably still pay too much, but I usually get better than the "tourist" pricing.

The point here is that we "clients" view up-selling with the same distaste that you girls detest asking for discounts. While most of the SPs who have chimed in this thread are all inclusive, many others are not and have trained many hobbyists to go for the better deal

I second that thought...The SP's who are "all inclusive" make it easier for us "hobbiests" to see...we know what we are getting ourselves into.There are so many girls who advertise a rate and then it's extra for this and that and that can get frustrating and that's when negotiation starts for me as well.For the most part the Ladies of Cerb are upfront and that's appreciated.
