There is nothing equal to the excitement of the world cup. Not the Stanley Cup, not the Superbowl.

Depending on when in July you're going the cup may be won and the major festivities over. Either way, have a blast and if you see Totti, kick him in the nards for me! :-)

I totally agree with Lindsay, if you have never lived outside of North America during a World Cup year then you have no idea what it's like. Trust me on this, having grown up in England, every World Cup the country would stop in it's tracks to watch England play. It is so incredibly intense!

Oh, and if I see Totti Lindsay I'll make sure to hoof the S.O.B. one in the nards for you!!!

Totally agree with you spud271 ... for every Stanley Cup nut, you can count at least 100 times that number who go nuts for the World Cup! The atmosphere is unbelievable ....

I was hoping for a Brazil v Spain final - both have somewhat suspect defences and Spain sure knows how to play attacking football. Mind you Dunga has apparently imposed more discipline on Brazil so maybe Spain v Argentina would make for a better spectacle. Who wouldn't want Messi to be in the final??

I'm from Scotland so I couldn't stand it if England made to the final, wouldn't be able to show my face for weeks!!!!!!!! lol

I'd love to see one of the African teams make it to the semis.

I won't pick who is going to win the tournament, but here is my final four...Brazil, Spain, England and Ivory Coast.

Not possible, Brazil and IC are in the same group (G) so assuming they all get through one of them will play Spain (H) in the second round.

Additional Comments:

There is nothing equal to the excitement of the world cup. :-)

Being a footie junkie I understand but how long will it take for one of the ladies on CERB to disagree with this

Speaking solely of sports, there is nothing equal to the excitement of the world cup. There are plenty of other hair raising, pulse racing activities....

Stanley Cup - less than 10 million watchers.

Super Bowl - around 50 million watchers.

World Cup Soccer - over 1 Billion. It ain't called the world's game for nuthin'!

Great...I figured it would be a huge deal. My friends and I will be on the lookout for the scoundrelly Totti! I'll be there for pretty much the entire month, so I should catch the best of it.

England plays the United States today. England is one of at least three teams that have been forbidden by their management to have sex during the tournament (England's manager Fabio Capello has reportedly installed cameras at the team hotel to keep wives and girlfriends out of players' beds). So today's match will be the first test in this World Cup of that ancient folklore about sex draining ones' athletic mojo. Ghana, another no-sex team, opens against Serbia tomorrow. Chile, the third, plays Honduras on Wednesday.

So if you notice that Wayne Rooney looks especially sour today, you know why!

England and WAGS. What is all that, was reading a few articles and seems the ladies of the gents have quite the reputation for partying and spending. Seems like in the boys club, they all agree that they need to find a lady that is not the quiet behind the scenes type. Anyway, England hasn't shown much lately, so maybe if they keep the guys are horny and unsatisfied that will help them play.

The policy this year, is no girls allowed, although some seem to be trying to find ways to be close, perhaps for a quick encounter, kind of like an escort service.

I have to favor Brazil. I am also in favor of good competitive, entertaining games. Should be fun.

just had this sent to me by a friend.

Open the attached to create a separate WC calendar in outlook which details all the games. Games will be shown in your time zone. The link below is a pretty neat online calendar as well.

So are the millions of England supporters! The English are known to be friendly with the Americans but that was way too friendly :-)

I really felt bad for Green but most of all Fabio Capello got his tactics wrong or worse yet using a 4-4-2 tactics in the modern day of football is abit boring and easy for the opposition to subdue.

I certainly like that fact the U.S came out to play after the 2nd half and did not sit back during their draw at hand.

I may be exposing my country of origin, Scotand, but England were crap.

They don't have world class players who can impose themselves in a game without the help of the rest of the team

Rooney is a world class player but the game vs the US showed how he can be kept out of a game.

Milner - the most improved player in the English Premier League subbed off about 20 minutes into the game.

Don't just blame Green.

The whole team carries the responsibility.

Thinking maybe of switching allegiance...

On the other hand, reasons to remain loyal:
