I was surprised recently when a potential client wrote that he didn't want to ask his regular paid companion to write him a reference. He said he didn't want her thinking that he was seeing other escorts. The girl in question I know to be very reference-friendly, but he said he didn't want any drama. I am horrified. If I knew my clients were telling other escorts that I would cause drama and be hurt and upset that he was seeing other girls, I would be furious. That is NOT an image I want projected to the CERB community, particularly as it does NOT represent me fairly. That kind of image does an escort a huge disservice, and hurts her business and reputation. It also creates conflict amongst the girls. If other escorts thought I was a jealous drama queen, I would be mortified. By claiming to protect her 'feelings', this client is being extremely condescending and insulting. These kinds of assumptions about possessiveness and territory are damaging to the SP, and reinforce the stereotype that escorts are emotionally unstable. If you like us (and we're glad that you do!) please HELP us create a great reputation. There is nothing worse than having bad word of mouth, especially initiated by clients who are our fans. The idea that we are romantically or emotionally attached to our clients is generally false. The idea that we don't want clients seeing other girls is false (and kind of funny). We work so hard to make CERB and the escorting community a positive, honest environment. I would hate to think that these assumptions are reversing our progress. Your SP doesn't mind that you see other girls. What she does mind is the damage to her reputation inflicted by this kind of client.

The council has voted (unanimously) to make it a rule that any Agency, Massage Spa or Private club must be PAID ADVERTISERS in order to post ads on Lyla. At this time this rule only applies to Ottawa and Toronto as both cities have over 5000 posts. NOTE: Any city to reach 5000+ posts will be added to this list. Lyla will NOT charge the Independent providers for using Lyla however anyone who works for a Spa or Agency and wishes to mention that company on Lyla will need to purchase a banner for that company. Agencies/Private Clubs/Massage spas that run MULTIPLE COMPANIES will be permitted to have MULTIPLE PAID ACCOUNTS (One for EACH company) - Each account would require a PAID BANNER. Each paid account could advertise in the announcements area per 12 hour period as well. - Lyla remains an outstanding value for agencies and this will get rid of the "fly by night" agencies and give exclusivity to the serious agencies who do pay for advertising and are branding a reputation. - Agencies will be monitored closely to ensure compliance especially in regards to anyone trying to circumvent this rule with FAKE indie accounts will be banned from the site and purchasing a banner will no longer be a option. If you are unethical we do not want you here. Public gentleman's clubs (Strip Clubs) are welcome to purchase banners and if they wish to advertise directly to Lyla they may do so as well but so far none really seam to want to advertise but some of the dancers do from time to time so the ladies who work for these clubs can still post where they will be working without the need for a paid advertisement at this time. This exception is ONLY for PUBLIC STRIP CLUBS (Not Private Clubs or any other type of adult club). Private adult entertainment clubs will be seen the same as agencies and massage spas and will be required to purchase a banner to advertise. New members (Agencies/Spa's/Private Clubs) will have 5 FREE posts as a trial period. This does not count for companies running more then one business so if you have a paid agency account you can not get a 5 day account for a NEW agency you are opening. Current Agencies/Spa's/Private Clubs who do NOT have a banner yet will have 7 days grace to contact me and purchase a banner from today. Thank you. TheMOD.

While I think we all expected the Conservatives to form the next government, I think most of us were expecting them to form yet another Minority one, with the Liberals and NDP spliting the Opposition. But I doubt too many of us were expecting such a drastic final result at the end of such an unremarkable campaign. The strength of the Conservative victory, the historic finish of the NDP and the historic collapse of the Liberals and the near destruction of the Bloc. There will be a lot of disappointed people in the following weeks, and a lot of happy ones as well, but what we all must do in the months and years following is watch and protect our hard won liberties and freedoms, and that should be the case no matter who wins. While I have never subsribed to the theory that any party has a "hidden" or secret agenda, as citizens', our job doesn't end after an election, but our responsibility is to always remain vigilant. Apathy and disinterest are greater evils than ignorance and discord. It doesn't matter who you voted for or who you support, we must always be responsible for portecting and preserving the ideals of our society. That is the true price of of living in a great and civilized democracy.

"Everyone" is a much less reliable source of information than they appear to be. "Everyone" knows that women over 30 can't be successful paid companions, which is nonsense. And "everyone" also knows that the only companions with any hope of making a living look like perfectly airbrushed Barbie dolls--also not true. "Everyone" assumes that all men want the same thing, when the truth is that most men want different things in different combinations at different times. Telling the truth is the best way to be sure that the men who come to see us will be happy clients: truth in advertising has that effect.

I do not want to get in trouble for saying this but for me pictures are great and so are physical attributes but the most important is personality. Personality will take me further then looks.

When I first started in the business, I was 35 years old and the agency I worked for, listed my age as 29 because they said no one would want to see a lady in her 30s. Since becoming an indie in 1998, I have trimmed 3-5 years off my age, but last year I decided I was going to go with my real age. I don't now if 50 is the magic number, but it certainly has helped increase my business if anything. I look at this way - in terms of competition, I have 5 ladies to compete with instead of 500 - lol. As the baby boomers age, I suspect my services will continue to be in demand. I have no intention of slowing down. As long as that phone keeps ringing, I'm staying in the game.

I beleive it has to do on how a lady perceives her accomodations; I see it as a temporary investment that is part of the whole experience shared with my gentlemen. Entertaining in an upscale hotel suite that provide some luxuries one might not come across in everyday life, for example, a jacuzzi for 2 filled with bubbles by candle light, can be quite appealing for many as opposed to a regular room or a "quite a bit less then upscale hotel" (just using your wording) or a room that has a "motel feel" to it. I know that for some gentlemen that the ladies' choice of accomodations can be a deterrent. On a few occasions I have heard the following: "The lady I decided to see last week/month was very nice and sweet but you should've seen where she stayed. I was not impressed at all..." IF it's the ladie's habit to stay in those types of rooms/hotels, will the gentlemen repeat if they are not comfortable with their surroundings? I highly doubt it. Just like in any other business, sometimes you have to spend money to make money!

I don't get the need for any sort of registration for anyone who provides sexual services. Only rules and zoning for businesses of importance size need these If someone can work from home as a researcher, a painter, an accounter, why not a independent provider? If one opens a big place, the owner registers his buisiness, not his employees. Why would he? Do bars register their waitresses, likewise for the resto? Hell no! Why us then? Great idea, let's abolish the gun registry and create a sex worker one instead! If we don't register, harper can throw us in one of his new jails. Why should i do time in jail if I don't register? Are the construction workers sent to jail when they work without permits? Hell no! Are they valuable reasons for a permit to work in the construction business? yes! Is there one for escorting? I can't find one! We don't need to change the laws, we need to abolish them. Just like New Zealand.

Why does no one see the complete ridiculousness of the Swedish model? If prostitution is violence towards the sex worker him/herself, then why is it still okay to sell sex? And since when does it make any sense to criminalize the buyer? The Swedish model went into place without any consultation with sex workers, and in the official Swedish language, they do not make any distinction between forced and voluntary, all prostitution is understood as violence against women. They claim to be the most gender neutral, feminist country, but they did not even consider speaking to the sex workers themselves. The Swedish model is yet another example of policy and law makers deciding what is best for us, and treating us like children. In the first year, police used video cameras to collect evidence and harass clients, which meant they had to film both the exchange of money and the sex itself and many workers felt that even though they weren't doing anything illegal, this was being used to violate their integrity. The street clients become more stressed and want to complete the negotiation process as quickly as possible to avoid getting caught and it becomes difficult to assess if the person is a good client if she is supposed to just jump into the car without any negotiation. Many of the "good" clients have turned to indoor workers to avoid getting caught, leaving the street workers to deal with the clients who don't care about getting caught, usually because they already have a criminal record. Prior to the law criminalizing clients, they could refuse these clients, but now they cannot afford to. It comes as no surprise then that they are exposed to more violence now. The decrease in the number of clients for street workers has made them more desperate and more likely to accept unsafe sex practices. And since the police look for condoms as evidence of sex, this is a strong incentive not to carry condoms. So basically, the Swedish model sucks and only forces prostitution further underground. Give your head a shake lady (Joy Smith), you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
