Counter point. I hand my ID to people all the time. Some ask for it when you pay by CC. Some ask at the liquor store or a bar. Car dealers take it and photocopy it. Tattoo shops make a copy. I've sent pictures of my ID via email (which is not secure). I've uploaded photos of my ID online for various reasons. Hell people lose their IDs all the time and they don't panic. They just go buy a new one and don't care what happened to the old one. So ultimately what is a provider really going to do with your ID? Don't send it to some random provider on LL you don't know but if you've done your research on a specific provider and they are reputable like several in this thread (Ms Manda, Pamela Luscious, etc.) you really think they are going to try and ruin your life over $500 just for fun? No. Because it looks bad on them too and how they conduct business and it will impact them. They will only use it if they have to in situations such as assault.

Robert please stop turning every thread into a "SPs are evil" conversation. I've never had a provider cancel when I had paid a deposit before. Typically providers will say deposits are non refundable and if they have to cancel they will apply the deposit to another booking time. In some cases you may be able to get a refund but it's up to the specific provider and situation. I have had providers no show or cancel last minute when there's been no deposit. Never been offered a discount and wouldn't ever expect one honestly. End of the day it's a service offered and shit happens. Sleeping through an alarm is a shit reason but shake it off and move on.

Can you clarify the issue here please. You don’t say anything about having paid a deposit in your message but the latest replies (e.g., from RobertDion) are implying a deposit was paid. Are you asking about whether a deposit should be refunded if an appt falls through or are you asking if you should be compensated for time lost due to planning and showing up for the original appt, which fell through due to an issue with the SP? Different issues I think…

Either way, you'd be refunded the money, or, if she's ghosting you, then she took your deposit and ran, like many do. It's the double standard discussed here many times before. They want a deposit to ensure you're serious and to make sure you don't cancel and to pay for their prep time, and to lock in your appointment. She SHOULD refund your money or re-schedule and not charge you a deposit again, obviously. But if her intent is to just collect deposits, then your sh*t out of luck.

If she cancels and doesn't rebook you I would expect a refunded deposit. Maybe a priority rebooking. If she has extras she offers I can see her maybe offering a small discount on extras if the client is interested. But honestly no. Not really the same. If you book a massage and the massage therapist calls in sick that day you don't get a discount on your next service. You just rebook if possible and move on. Shit happens.

I've been following this thread from the beginning and for me it always comes back to the same thing - I have a choice. No one is making me meet with a provider who requires ID, a deposit or both. But what really irks me is the 'issue' of providers having control and hobbyists not being able to do anything about it. That doesn't seem to sit very well with some folks. I refund deposits through Amazon gift card or crypto if I ever need to cancel or reschedule. For example, I once had a gentleman ask for his refund via crypto. When I asked for his wallet address so I could send it back, he ghosted. I'm guessing he doesn't know how crypto works. Just as an FYI, for crypto transfers, we can’t return funds without your wallet. That being said, if the lady didn’t take a deposit, she doesn’t owe you anything. Do you expect her to send you money out of pocket?

I think the why is fairly obvious. Getting confirmation that she is extremely hot and spectacular is a great starting point but, sharing information and promoting great SPs are what this site is about so, recommendations can provide more complete info. If the provider says it's a non refundable deposit then what do you expect? Again if you can't rebook I don't think there's anything wrong with asking for it back if they are the ones who cancelled but you took that risk knowing it was non refundable. If they don't say non refundable then you should get it back without question.

It is wrong and honestly, imo, disrespectful. The legitimate SPs have gone to great lengths to provide information to validate themselves as true and authentic. Websites, photoshoots, multiple ad platforms, social media accounts (which in today's age are super hard to maintain against the algorithm that are constantly banning us), online content platforms like OF and NLDTCONNECT and recommendations/reviews. Most valid SPs will have at least 2 or those available. Most of us have spent 1000s of dollars and hours to create this. If you haven't followed the links provided in the ad to verify them, that's on you. For the rare ad that was stolen from one platform and placed on another, most of us are google-able. If someone is new and is just building up, that will be up to you on how you want to move forward. If someone is constantly changing names, that should be a red flag it's self. If you take a couple of minutes to think with the big head vrs the little one, you should be able to make an informed decision of seeing someone or not.

I get the question but still unclear if you gave her a deposit. This happened to me many years ago with a reputable SP, I took time off from work and drove over 1 hour away to go and meet her at our scheduled time and got no response from her, waited over an hour and then drove back home and went back to work. I lost about 4 hours all together (didn't get paid) and the disappointment of not seeing this girl. The next day she replied and offered me an extra hour at no cost for our next meeting. I took the deal and I think that she even gave me a better service then usual(I might have imagine it). Keep in mind that she never asked for a deposit and I was/still am a long time member of CERB/Lyla.

A driver’s license on its own is not enough to commit fraud. To open a bank account or access financial services in Canada, you need a SIN, a signature, and often additional verification. A license by itself is practically useless without that supporting information. On top of that, most people already have safeguards in place through Equifax or TransUnion, which notify you immediately if your ID has been compromised or used improperly. So no, providing ID for screening doesn’t magically put you at financial risk.
