  1. Congratulations, Samantha! You're most definitely a must-read here. Love hearing what you have to say, and looking forward to the next thousand!
  2. Well, I'd probably prefer to use 50s or 100s... but the ATMs I use give me nothing but 20s, so that's what I'm stuck with.
  3. Well, I think that ad is a product of its time. We've moved on since then, fortunately. But I don't agree that it shouldn't be discussed here. I know there are quite a few folks who disagree with me on whether stuff like this is appropriate for CERB, but I've always found it preferable - in the long run - to deal with the world as it is, rather than as I'd like it to be. I'm sure everyone here takes appropriate precautions, but HIV and other nasty things are an unfortunate reality of life (for everyone, not just people here) and I see no benefit in sweeping them under the carpet and pretending they don't exist.
  4. So, I'm sure you've all seen Escher's "Waterfall" before: Inevitably for the Internet age, someone with way too much time on his hands has built one in his garage. Awesome!
  5. Live and wriggly, or dead? Either way, yes. If you met Stephen Harper, and he asked you what you thought of him, would you give him an honest answer?
  6. I have absolutely no idea. As has been said by multiple people already, we're all adults here, and all regularly engaged in some rather adult activities. All I can think of for this is to maybe not put it in the thread title, and to start off by saying something along the lines of "Apologies in advance if this offends anyone, but I can't think of a nice way to ask..." That gives everyone fair warning, and those who don't wish to stumble across things they may consider unpleasant or offensive have had an opportunity to avoid them.
  7. http://news.cnet.com/8301-27076_3-20096895-248/steve-jobs-steps-down-from-apple/?tag=topStories1 He'll still be at the company, though, by the sound of it.
  8. So it's your birthday. What to say To mark this very special day? Perhaps I should prepare a cake? That just won't fly; I cannot bake. Or maybe I could make a card? I fear I'd find that rather hard. My options here are rather few But there is one thing I can do: To wish that you may find this year Brings you fun, joy and good cheer And hope that you enjoy your day In a quite stupendous way
  9. And all those hours I spent on this My efforts weren't repaid. Sometimes, maybe, I'd get a kiss; It never got me laid.
  10. That's probably because the poetry you read in school was written by people who took themselves way too seriously. I'm sure Old Dog and I have many faults, but we can't be accused of that one!
  11. Heh. We shall have to create a new thread for future outbreaks of silly doggerel.
  12. Unfortunately, this sort of abuse seems all too common in the US. The main problem, as far as I can see, is that prosecutors have absolute legal immunity for anything they may do relating to their jobs, which means they can trash justice with impunity. A good blog to read, for those who are interested in following this sort of thing...
  13. And you devoted hours of your time to the compilation of these, especially when there was a girl you wanted to impress...
  14. I thought I'd had the final word, That no more poems were pending It seems my wishes were not heard - I pray there'll be an ending! And so, once more unto the breach I drag my weary fingers While inspiration's in my reach And an idea still lingers. Another thought occurs to me I hope my words are heeded; A solution, plain to see Which will achieve what's needed. To deal with this spoiler 'None' And you may think this wise Perhaps she could be made to run Against all of us guys? And before I call it a night One thing cannot be stayed: It seems to me, clear as daylight - WE REALLY MUST GET LAID! So, ladies, will you hear our pleas Before things become worse? 'Cos if we do not get some fun We'll have to write more verse.
  15. And thus a great deal of unhappiness is perpetuated, and people are condemned to lives of guilt and misery. It's... sad.
  16. Well, of *course* you're cutting it down from what it could be by screening. The point, of course, is that the part of it you're cutting out is the part that you probably didn't want in the first place :)
