Well, that's something we all have to decide for ourselves... It'd depend what it was for. For an hour? Yep, that sounds pretty pricy. For overnight? That seems quite low. Really for "a couple of girls"? Sounds.... fun :) The problem here is that you have to establish what's being offered to judge whether what's being quoted is reasonable or not.

To be honest, I'd have thought much better of the ad in Megan's original post if it had had any indication of where to find out more. Just a hotline number, or an address you could send a SAE to. Anything more constructive than "If you take drugs of have sex, this will happen to you". Absolutely. But I'm glad that people seem to have realized that pure scaremongering isn't all that useful. And I'm also very glad about the subsequent invention of things like the Internet, which has made finding things out *much* easier than it used to be.

And having got their rocks off, it may be that the zombies will be more peaceable and less of a threat to the rest of us... or at least, easier to knock off. Although given that payment is likely to be in brains, larger and more waterproof envelopes may be required. That's easy. All you do is leave some brains on a plate by the door. If your visitor shows significant interest, grab the shotgun. As for me, I'll be barricading myself in the nearest pub.

Well, I think that ad is a product of its time. We've moved on since then, fortunately. But I don't agree that it shouldn't be discussed here. I know there are quite a few folks who disagree with me on whether stuff like this is appropriate for CERB, but I've always found it preferable - in the long run - to deal with the world as it is, rather than as I'd like it to be. I'm sure everyone here takes appropriate precautions, but HIV and other nasty things are an unfortunate reality of life (for everyone, not just people here) and I see no benefit in sweeping them under the carpet and pretending they don't exist.

I have absolutely no idea. As has been said by multiple people already, we're all adults here, and all regularly engaged in some rather adult activities. All I can think of for this is to maybe not put it in the thread title, and to start off by saying something along the lines of "Apologies in advance if this offends anyone, but I can't think of a nice way to ask..." That gives everyone fair warning, and those who don't wish to stumble across things they may consider unpleasant or offensive have had an opportunity to avoid them.

Unfortunately, this sort of abuse seems all too common in the US. The main problem, as far as I can see, is that prosecutors have absolute legal immunity for anything they may do relating to their jobs, which means they can trash justice with impunity. A good blog to read, for those who are interested in following this sort of thing...
