May the 4th Be With You
Phaedrus replied to Cleo Catra's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Well, I'm too late for this thread, but I'm just catching it in time for the Revenge of the Sixth. Sorry. :) -
Apparently, that's all fine, too. :icon_neutral: http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2011/05/05/pol-layton-opp.html

References & "Our Feelings"
Phaedrus replied to EmilyRushton's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
I just don't get this at all! I believe most SPs have more than one client... why on earth would they be bothered by a client seeing another SP occasionally? Just out of interest, Emily - did this potential client eventually provide a reference, from the 'usual' SP or another? I wonder if he may have been trying to wiggle round the reference thing entirely, for whatever reason... I can understand not wanting to ask your SO for a reference, though... :) -

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/gallery/2011/may/01/escape-brothel-china-jilin-province A naked man was spotted racing across a rooftop in Changchun, capital of north-east China's Jilin province after police raided a brothel. The man in question was seen desperately trying to climb down from the building during the raid. The photographer, a high school student visiting a friend nearby, picked up his cameraphone after hearing the chaos outside: "I worried his private parts would be burned by sliding down the rusty pipe."

I'm not going to believe it until I see the full, long-form death certificate :icon_biggrin:

The Price of Democracy
Phaedrus replied to Lowdark's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Who knows? I suspect it won't, in the short term at least - I'd be surprised if much happened while it was still going through the courts. But if the legal process ends with a ruling against the government that says SPs' rights are bring infringed while they carry out a legal activity (for now), and if there's still a Harper majority at that time, then I worry they may well be provoked into doing something about the legality of it to render such a ruling null and void. Of course, if one of our self-appointed moral guardians gets the bit between their teeth, all bets are off. -
Which is more likely to get me more breadcrumbs?

Your opinion - Federal Election...
Phaedrus replied to Reddog01's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Yes... a perennial problem. It really means, in the short term, that people have to vote tactically if they *really* want to keep the unified right out. In the longer term... you could look over the Atlantic to the UK, where they're having a referendum about changing their electoral system so that the second and subsequent choices of eliminated candidates get transferred, which means that you don't get this sort of problem. Vid to explain :) Or the left could also merge, but I that seems unlikely... -

Was it wrong of me to eat them?

I don't think it'll make a blind bit of difference, to be honest. The terrorists *already* hate us, so the fact that they'd like to hate us a little more now doesn't leave them anywhere to go. The only thing that may happen is that they may try to time future events for the anniversary, but that just means we know when to look out for them :) The interesting thing now will be to see the Pakistani reaction to this. They seem to have some interesting questions to answer...

To answer or not answer?
Phaedrus replied to Megan'sTouch's topic in General Discussion Area - all of Canada
Things appear to have changed :) I'm very much in the 'keep answering the phone' camp - I'd far rather know that it's not worth trying again today, if that's all I care about! Although the suggestions about keeping an up-to-date voicemail message are also good ones, if you decide to go that route. -
New to Massage. What to ask for?
Phaedrus replied to Enhancement's topic in Ottawa Discussion - Massage
Well... I haven't visited that many MPs, but generally you pay a flat fee to the house, and then the MA will tell you what her donation is for whatever services you agree on. It all seems to work out about the same at the end of the day. -

Okay, this *really* reminds me of Mornington Crescent http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4w7EvDRBERg -
I must admit, I'm amazed this matters. Ottawa's not *that* big - if you avoid rush hour, you can drive from anywhere to anywhere else in half an hour or so. I suppose that may be a problem if you're running a tight schedule... but if it's that tight, are you really going to enjoy your visit if you're worrying about getting out on time? And if a half-hour drive is really an insurmountable obstacle, then I can't believe you really wanted to see the lady in question all that much. Of course, this might be much more of an issue for those who don't drive. For me, the main issue on location is parking (although most places aren't too bad if you avoid peak times). Which leads me on to the most important thing, which is *when* you're available - I suspect it's far easier for some of us to visit a SP at some times than others. I'd guess that some folks can only get out to play during the working day, and others may find that impossible but can take time in the evening, or after work. This is just my thoughts, of course. I can't really speak for anyone else, so all of the above may be completely wrong :)
