My 5000th and last Post

Recommended Posts

I'm really at a bit of a loss as to what to say at this point, which is unusual for me.

You'll be missed, Pete. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's sad to see you withdraw. But the flip-side of that is the reason you'll be missed: all your contributions in the past. Thank you for those; all the best for the future; and I hope you'll feel inclined to rejoin us eventually.

So long Pete. Sorry to see you go. You are one of a small group whose recommendations I always read and always found I could trust. Quality and quantity, I was frequently in awe of your level of hobby activity. If only I had your resources... and stamina.

Thanks for opening more than a few new boudoir doors for me.

Change and renewal is inevitable and needed if Cerb is to survive and remain relevant. PP is not the first to go nor will he be the last there have been many others who have just slipped away or reduced their public involvement. Seems to be the nature of the beast. Cerb just might be on the cusp of a changing of the guard as it were and it might be the time for a new generation of players to make Cerb their own. With the new year coming it seems timely to look to the future.

ack, my little rep point comment got messed up. Basically saying that some folks may not realize that the way of this business has been undergoing subtle changes. Sps to a certain extent have learned from the cooperation of clients working together and this has been shown on forums and boards. Basically sps have discovered also that working together is far more beneficial than working competitively.

This is new and to some new is scary. They want to try to control that, turn back the clock, but its too late. So yes, people feel out of place, maybe some of the things that they say and do are no longer relevant in this new world of interconnection and cooperation, and the response to their assumptions can be swift and not always supportive lol

It would be really cool if there could be a realization that sps/client dynamics are not the same as they were in the past. Think instead of jealous, now solidarity, cooperation and collective.

Pete, your contributions to this board are truly immeasurable and should not be diminished. I'm glad you've been able to structure your participation in a way that works for you as opposed to a complete withdrawal.

So long, and thanks for all the effort you put into this community. Your work has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated.

Sometimes I hesitated and I doubted my point of view as "off the mark" until you said it for me. Take a rest and hopefully we will hear from you in the new year. Thanks.

I don't know where to begin with this... and when it gets going, I don't know how it will end.

First, to Pete. I can't say I didn't see this coming. I was perplexed to a degree by the fact that you virtually stopped posting in the past year - I suspected that it had to do with a family issue to which you had alluded earlier, but I also suspected that was not the sole purpose. My suspicions were accurate. It seems you, like many others, have become somewhat disenchanted with the direction of CERB and the fact that it has, in many ways, diverted its course from a community playground to a series of soapboxes surrounded by fragile eggshells.

If it's any consolation, I admire your decision. You, of all the guys on the board, were the first to extend a hand in friendship to me. I was new and you reached out to welcome me to the fold. I thank you for that and will remember that gesture of kindness and camaraderie fondly. Your decision to step to the side is an ominous reminder to all of us that what was once a very inclusive and welcoming community has become a mosaic of factions.

It disturbs me that we have lost a resounding voice, a pioneer and a friend to many, not to illness, not to dramatic life change, but to indifference and worse... to intolerance.

I understand the changing nature of the business. I understand the need to forge alliances, to form organizations and to speak up on issues that are relevant. There are hundreds of issues that affect our community and frankly this is the best and only place that we have to discuss these things civilly and openly with both sides of the business, provider and client sharing an equal voice. There is NO OTHER PLACE like CERB.

That being said, we have set ourselves on a course where if we don't change... if we don't alter the path on which we tread, we will all end up in disparate destinations. God knows, many of us have tried to be peacemakers. We seek to smooth ruffled feathers and heap praise upon those who work to make our community better, divert conversations that get heated and try to get things back on track.

There are however those in this community that believe that this is an opportunity to put people in their place. To disregard the intent of the board. To twist words. To belittle and demean. Frankly, and pardon my use of the vernacular, we have a few assholes on board. I may be one of them... I don't know.

It's ironic that in this season of togetherness, the season of joy and family and all other things warm and fuzzy, we shouldn't have to face the departure of a valued member of our family to this situation. It's like losing the uncle that told dirty jokes or the capricious cousin that knew what life was all about.

Pete... you have been and will be missed. Your contributions were the cornerstone for many things that followed and will follow. It is my hope, especially at Christmas, that we can give each other the gift of love, respect, humour and good natured discourse in the new year and the many years to come. We have seen in this sad event, what happens when that does not occur.

Finally, I do extend to each and every one of you my love and admiration for the holiday season. You have enriched my life in ways that you can't possibly imagine.

Pete, I have one comment to make in this thread. For someone that is retiring quietly, you have positively commented with everyone that agrees with your take on the situation here. You're still hanging in there so all is not completely lost from your starting this thread? You have many that look highly upon you and your status here.

However, I'm just a lady that gives the same advice I give myself. We're not always going to be right, not everyone will agree and we're all of different views. I"m learning that more and more as I spend time here. Your posts have been appreciated, but diversity is now key and we are evolving.

Hoping you do come back as I'm pretty discouraged too by this posting. We're much stronger together than being divided right? Perhaps in most situations.....

Happy Holidays everyone.

Let's hope that the new diversity includes some of the generosity and openness of spirit that Pete consistently demonstrated on here.

As a newbie to the site, I have no clue what happened here. I do feel for Pete though, even though I do not know him.

I have joined this site to get some friendly advice, learn some, have some fun and perhaps along the way make some online friends here as well. I have no desire to be a part of any drama or negativity and I hope I don't find myself in that situation. If however it does cross my path, I will remove myself from that situation and perhaps the site if it continued.

It is obvious from some of what I have read here and in other forums on here, that there are some good people/members.

I look forward to being a part of the good side of this site and what it is intended for.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all

Cheers!!!!

PP, I have to say that it's sad to know that you have taking this decision, as your contributions were certainly valuable to the board.

That said, it is understandable: one can simply read this thread and see the polarization it creates - same people always nominating certain replies, same negative stir-up - which only reflect your grounds for leaving.

Back to being a lurker.

I havent been here but 2 years yet (next month) and you have been a staple in the cupboard. For good or for bad, what are we going to do without you?

I hope you find your fun and your voice again.

PistolPete, I would like to thank you for your contributions. Your recs have served invaluable to me on many occasions! I think your doing things on your own terms - shows you have thought things through, and I for one, respect your decision (it couldn't have been an easy one).

That being said: I am very happy you will still participate in commenting on the ladies photos! For me, your comments provide me humour - how you respectfully tell them "what you'd like to do to them.." and point out their wonderful features while doing so. This still brings a chuckle as I am typing.

Again, you are obviously a highly respected member; and I believe you are doing what you have decided is best for you! Thanks again.

Well Pete. I primarily like you because you like Kaley Cuoco, Hogan's Heroes and Schultzie ! Oh ya and sex, humor and pints of beer you seem to enjoy too, as do I ;)

You are a highly respected pioneer here on Cerb and have watched the progression of the wonderful SP/hobbying world. This site now has the whole country online !

I have only been on here on Cerb for a year and half or so and I can't believe how things have changed, for the better for the sp/hobby world but also some bumps along the way on Cerb for sure.

The world of sex, escorts and hobbiests has become so very much more accepted in very short order and for good reasons in my opinion once it becomes understood. Therefore, many more members, active gentlemen and ladies in the business and at the end of the day many more opinions, questions and attitudes from accross the country. Right, wrong or indifferent.

It will never go back to the way it was, but the Titanic here is heading for an iceberg ! The best scenario I see is steer the ship down the middle of the old days and what it is right now and 2012 should be an awsome year on Cerb ! The Mod and council and long time members can't fix it. It takes co-operation from at least most of the active members here.

Pete...You are a great guy, from me to you.....thanks for all you have done here, I know you will still always be here, even if not posting actively. Happy Holidays and all the best in 2012 to you and your family !!!!

Hey Pete,

You've always been a good friend and great contributor.

Good for you to know when to get out of Dodge.

It's never good when we have to compromise or censor our thoughts.

I'm not sure what all transpired that made you go this route but I have a feeling that it is not the best for the CERB community.

While some may view it as a "changing of the guard" I would be more cautious and view it as a loss of some good leadership and experience.

It makes me wonder when the Pistol Pete's of our world start to hit the road where exactly do I stand in this place?

See you around and Merry Christmas

J

Congrats on your 5000th post Pete.

Let me take a moment to thank you heartily for all of your contributions. I became a member rather than a lurker because I respected what you had to say and because you were such a great ambassador for the board. I felt much less self conscious about the hobby and myself for the example you showed on how to be a true gentleman.

I respect your decision and I am very glad to hear your account will remain open. I hope I am one whom you will continue to count as a friend.

CERB is different from when I first joined and those who are creating this hostility are only shortchanging themselves in the long run. It is my hope that we can restore CERB to the fun loving hobby-centric community it once was.

I'm sorry but I just don't have anything more to say or add into the those sections of the board.

My reasoning for staying out of posting here,is that the content on the board has lost some of it's "reality" in why we we all chose to become a member here on CERB.

The latter certainly has not been happened enough lately in my view, I had read MOD's note to those Elite Members and Sp members in that section.

Pete, congratulations on reaching that milestone! Doing anything 5000 times is quite a feat, and I know I'll never reach that number. After that many posts I don't think anyone would be surprised if you chose to move to the back seat and take a more relaxed approach on the board. I'm relatively new here, so I haven't noticed any change in the climate, although even if I had been a long time member it may have gone un-noticed by me. Sometimes there are many factors which result in a change, and not just the actions of a few. Usually, the bad apples can be flushed out and I'm sure the MOD(s) make every effort to "keep the peace". But peace is not so much the absence of conflict, but the ability to cope with it.

Even through your post about your chosen change of status on the board, I have learned something new which reveals a lot. I was unaware there was a special section for "Elite members" and SPs!

One other thing I will miss is seeing your profile pic so frequently. I think for a hobbyist, you have one of the most appealing profile pics on the board. As Spock would say, "Live long and prosper".
