  1. In the general run of the day It's convenient to pick up a dark roast at Tims, but do enjoy the Starbuck's when I gave the chance to stop. Bought a bag of Starbucks beans a Costco and will be opening it soon. I do like to grind the beans at home and brew with a french press, expect a good cuppa when I get the formula right.
  2. Presently showing Eye in the Sky
  3. I'm in the marriage camp. Usually it's a ceremony that's performed solemnly with vows and promises in church, with family and fiends as witnesses. Today we seem to be loosing that link with faith. I think we only have to look at the PM taking the day off during his trip to Japan to show his wife a good time to celebrate their eleventh anniversary. Too often couples enter into an arrangement of living together with the idea that they can leave if it doesn't work out. It seems to me that the marriage commitment also sets a better example for children. But as stats show, many aren't willing to do the hard work it takes to be successful under either arrangement.
  4. Welcome back. Remember meeting at you at The Honest Lawyer for one of the very first socials.
  5. Kinda gave up on Orange is the New Black and started to watch Wentworth, an Aussie drama set in a woman's prison. Lot twists of unexpected turns.
  6. Just put some wings in the oven, it's a new recipe with lots of maple syrup in it
  7. Yesterday evening I used Uber for the first time, and was quite impressed by their service. They arrived within minutes of making the booking and their vehicles were spotless. Kudos to the city for legislating new regulations today which clarifies the rules. One has to sympathize with the cabbies, but it's clear that they haven't adapted to the changing times. Who knows, the Uber drivers might be under similar pressure as autonomous cars start to appear.
  8. I find here are three or four french groups on Tumbler which are great for following up and expanding your vocabulary.
  9. Yesterday I made baked beans, so this morning I had some with my eggs this morning.
  10. I know a few women that I've got to know who enjoy nice massage, usually independents. It's only natural that over the years you get to know what techniques to use.
  11. Nice piece of ham, direct from the farm, nicely cured. Now what to have with it, maybe a nice raisin sauce, steamed potatoes and brussels sprouts.
  12. I will follow up with a few thoughts about retirement. Canada Pension should only be regarded as very basic income so it is really incumbent for people to save additionally if they want to have a comfortable retirement, and yes there are many retirees who find it necessary to soldier on into old age by necessity. The present government is running into head winds trying to update the pension plan, by conservative thinking that catheterize this as a payroll tax, go figure. We live in a society that must be regulated by our chosen representatives, and how we direct policy on labour and retirement laws is fair. With better care we are living longer, but many of our youth are under employed or unemployed so we must encourage policies that rectify this problem, they are indeed the future. This new generation and immigrants will inevitably have to shoulder the responsibility for an aging population.
  13. I think we have to leave the jobs for our youth, they after all will be supporting us through our retirement. The problem as I see it is where are the jobs going to come from in the future as tech is starting to make so many jobs redundant. I went into a Mac Donalds the other day and low and behold they had installed a terminal. I had to order and pay there and then pick up my meal. Talking to the counter person she indicated that they very loosing staff and cutting hours. This was where my son and many other kids got their first job. As another example cabbies are loosing fares to Uber. In 15 to 20 years Uber drivers will complaining about loosing theirs to driverless cars. It is the responsibility of our policy makes forsee and to educate the workers of tomorrow and then put road blocks in the way of those who persist in hogging the jobs past a certain age.
  14. I've just finished a great series, don't know if it'll be back for a fifth year. It's set in modern times, the story of an old time western lawman. The series is called Longmire, and it's also been published in book forrmat.
  15. Just finished a Skype with my daughter and grandson, ain't tech great.
  16. Christmas isn't the same without the family, but I still like some of our own traditions. So, just taking the stuffing of the stove top, and will prepare a small turkey. You get some of the smells and tastes you don't have any other time of years, although I will have to be creative with the left overs. Will have a nice skype session with my grandson later. Merry Christmas
  17. I never ever took mine off, and it probably took me another 5 years after mine wife died. After a while I don't think they even take notice.
  18. Since there's no shuttle, if anyone needs a ride let me know.
  19. Different makes of tires work quite differently on a vehicles, I think it's a bit of a crap shoot. I bought a set of Toyo's a few years ago, and am happy with them. I bought a set of steel rims which makes the annual change a little easier. I did exercise the option of going down a size for a higher profile.
  20. OSEG's other team the Fury had a tough game, but came through and are headed to New York to face the Cosmos next week for the NASL championships, and they had 9300 fans in the stands. How's that for a second year franchise.
  21. I have but wouldn't do so now, risk is too great. Police can use entrapment, so unless you've done your legwork and know the ladies reputation avoid. Using BP or CL is a no no. The risk of getting caught is being barred from the states.
