  1. Drinking yerba mate out of a gourd. Poking my new nipple piercing. Enthusiastically chair-dancing to Le Tigre. Realizing that I have once again gotten side-tracked from my to-do list.

  4. Half the time I sit down to answer my emails, I feel overwhelmingly tired and I don't end up answering any/it's hard to think of what to write Today I'm trying to get some stuff done on the computer and... I don't know if I drank too much coffee... but I keep having to get up from the computer to dance. And I'm still not very productive. I have a problem. Not sure how to fix it. I was bit by the jitterbug. How on earth will I ever get to all those emails if I can't stop dancing? Cripes. I can't answer emails in SILENCE, either. That just feels wrong.
  5. Well they don't all work all the time- and I'm also highly distractable. Hence the need to have many options! But sometimes the trick really is to not give myself any time to be sad... and fill my life with things that are simply better than being sad.
  6. I have had success with dancing like a fool, soaking in the tub, petting kittens, making soup, seeing people, not seeing people, having naps, rearranging furniture, writing, stretching, walking, altering my clothes, meditating in a rainstorm, cooking brunch with friends, watching Buffy until I fall asleep, cold showers, mugs of hot tea, bowls of fruit, pretending not to give a damn, giving every damn until I have no damns left to give, howling at the moon, singing off-key, stretching (again, because it's so important), masturbation, saunas, swimming, spending time in nature, cooking something complicated, and hours and hours of CBC radio 2.
  7. Whenever I drink tea while chatting with someone I end up missing my mouth completely and spilling it down my front or dumping it on my lap. Pretty much every time.
  8. I just flung peanut butter onto my curtains because I was dancing with the knife in my hand. Okay, now post some of your own silly bloopers.
  9. I went for a walk last night and discovered parts of my neighbourhood that I never knew existed! More exploration is absolutely necessary.
  10. I am now the proud owner of a hitachi magic wand. I have tested it thoroughly and it is my opinion that it does in fact live up to all the hype.
  11. Today I make my blogging debut with some reflections on the nature of life as illustrated by my seashell collection: http://pixietryst.com/life-is-like-a-tin-of-seashells/
  12. Watching a cascade of water pour out the back of a seafood truck. What fun! Also, I just received a shipment of weird herbs, and I'm excited to make all sorts of weird herbal teas and tinctures.
  13. Secret indulgences! I love indulging secretly. Right now, I am in the process of watching Angel. There is something really fascinating about how David Boreanaz manages to go through each episode with an expressive repertoire based mostly on some combination of broodiness and confusion. I like trying on other people's clothes and personas. I like getting lost on purpose.
  14. 1991. Crystal Castles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3Ft6AviDDo No lyrics but I like to listen to this when I need to get something done really fast in two minutes.
  15. M&Ms, but the peanut butter kind. Sparks flying or slow burn?
  16. Vlad the Impaler. Hot cereal or cold cereal?

^.^ Thank you! This is my favourite of this set.
  18. Long conversations about the applications of clowning as a way to achieve transformative justice. Being drawn naked, successful thrift store shopping trips, and new friends! :D:D:D
  19. Since dying my hair pink a week or so ago, every time it falls in my face I am surprised. "Oh my goodness! Oh look at that! It's pink! My hair is pink! How novel!" On a more functional level, I frequently notice and then subsequently forget how hard it is for me to keep still. I'm the sort of person who's usually fidgeting in some way- tapping my foot or flexing my fingers or bouncing or swaying or just full-on dancing. Sometimes, especially when I am alone at night, my body goes into 'cat mode'. "What is cat mode?" inquiring minds may ask. It is the state in which I lounge around like a housecat- sitting on my heels, staring out of windows, combing my hair with my paw -er- hand. I can strrrrretch like a cat, too!
  20. Katherine! I'm glad you're okay! I hope your visit to Ottawa is not nearly this eventful. --hug--
  21. It was probably the squirrel I ate at a potluck in the woods this fall. :P As it turns out, I like the taste of squirrel! And I didn't even mind the little pile of squirrel ribs that accumulated on the edge of my plate. Despite the five years I spent as a vegetarian, I would say that I am a confirmed carnivore because of how much I like to eat wild animals. And I would definitely eat squirrel again.
  22. Theatre, or course! Fantasy or sci fi?
