It's entirely possible for men and women to be "just friends". But you need to dump the "just"; by itself that word betrays a bias within the question. They're friends. The first step in maintaining a quality friendship between a man and a woman is to recognize that friendship by itself is highly valuable. Sometimes friendship *is* the ultimate and most rewarding relationship for two people; you can't think of it as some kind of lesser, consolation prize you settle for instead of sex. The vast majority of the most important, deepest, and enduring relationships in my life have been friendships, and several of those have been with women. And these were not, if you'll accept my word for it, cases of either party settling for friendship instead of a secretly pined-for sexual relationship. Friendships let you explore each other's minds, attitudes, hopes, fears, and enjoy each other's company foremost as two human beings who just happen to be of different genders. Lifelong friendships endure through all kinds of dramatic changes and transitions, and your friends can know you deeper than lovers through accumulated time and experience. It's a different way of engaging with another, whole person that doesn't depend on scheming to bump crotches together. The video might have produced different results if the people polled were older. As samples go, hyper-hormonal college kids who are just starting to figure themselves out and find their place among social hierarchies is a tad biased.

Well everyone.....I was a little surprised by this as I hadn`t really noticed my post count lately ! Thanks for the kind words ..... it really does mean alot as do all of you ! My posts aren`t exactly overly serious or mind challenging for sure :roll:..... but folks I luv being here so as long as you put up with my senseless bibble, ridiculous shenanigans, bad jokes, and Austin Powers like charm.....then I am going to hang around for a bit ;) As for my serious side....I do have one...really I do...lol True story....I was meeting with the board of directors 2 weeks before Xmas....annual budget meeting. I got just a TAD bit pissed off at some things said so I stood up and spoke and started with a quote from one of my favorite SNL actors .....may he rest in peace. I still have the same job fyi...but wow....interesting ;) Thx again everyone !

My best friend is a man. He has been there for me without fail. I would give him a kidney or take a bullet for him literally. He is my touchstone. It doesn't matter that we have different anatomy or that we have no inclination in exploring each others anatomy. Our friendship has withstood the tests and tribulations life has presented and I don't see that changing. Yes, men and women can be friends... cat

Damn right we can just be friends! I've met some of my closest lady friends because they either dated or married guy friends of mine. Not once during a debate with Sue* about sports, a lengthy discussion about books with Emily* or having drinks at a concert with Rebecca* has the thought of seeing them naked entered my head. These are people with whom I have a genuine connection that has nothing to do with sex, nor would I want it that way. To insinuate otherwise is frankly insulting to all the parties in question! That's not to say I haven't been stuck in the dreaded "friend zone" once or twice before! ;) *The names of the women mentioned above have obviously been changed :P

I'm honestly not sure where this notion comes from, but I don't like it very much. Some of the best friends I've ever had are/have been male. Most of whom are sexually and/or romantically attracted to women, I might add. But just as I as a bisexual person am not immediately attracted to everyone I meet, men have different criteria for sexual and romantic attraction, too. Sexual tension is not always there. And you know what? Even when a friendship does include sexual tension, that doesn't mean it can't work! I speak from experience. Exactly! Nothing is more valuable to me in my interactions than real, intimate emotional and intellectual connection. Sex can be a part of that relationship, but it doesn't have to be.

I think the best romantic relationships are built on friendship, but that doesn't make friendship less valuable.

The recommendation section is probably NOT the place to have this discussion but I see no other option. I am left wondering (A) why you want to know who she is and (B) what good would it do you? Her anonymity is just as important (I am sure) to her as yours is to you sir. This is a world where discretion and a certain degree of anonymity is required and requested, for anyone to blatantly inquire of another's actual identity is wrong and frankly kinda scary! I doubt very much that YOU would appreciate a post asking "islandguy1569 I see he is from PEI but I can't figure out who he is...any help?" In not so certain terms don't ask this type of question again man, it's just wrong! I apologize if I have hijacked this reco. thread or crossed a line in some way, if I have I am willing to take my punishment as Mod sees fit. If not let this post stand as a testament to discretion.

i would say most of the girls are downtown for the reason that's where most of the businessmen are i'm over an hour away from ottawa and hey if the girl is worth it i'd drive 10 hours so count yourself lucky that your right in ottawa but then it could be a bad thing better have lots of money

Just a thought to include in this discussion, perhaps from a very different perspective? Geography, and proximity to SP locations obviously play a role in scheduling meetings. As well past experience in having to travel a few minutes, or more than a few minutes can possibly tend to make us take some things for granted. As one who normally must travel 3-4 hours each way, at a minimum, and also usually plan on a night in a hotel while away, the idea of having to only go "across town," seems kind of like a dream world to me! I actually consider myself fortunate that my access to SP's is not as easy as it is for those who live in Ottawa or Halifax or larger centers. I might never be home! My problem might be that there were too many awesome women too close at hand if it was only an hour or less needed to get to a location, and temptation beckons me easily! So, let us be thankful our blessings if our travel times are relatively minor. :)

Of course men and women can be friends, and truly they can be platonic friends. For whatever reason I have always 'related' better with women than men, and most of my closest friends are in fact women. Do I notice that they are women? Of course I do. Does it cause temptation at times. With some, absolutely a yes to that! Would I act on that temptation? A pretty certain no, but if they ever sent "signals", I would be in a quandry! Friends are friends. It can be as simple as that.

Maybe, but I'm sure they - or any others - will contact the OP if they're interested. DoubleN, one thing to say - AFAIK a lot of ladies aren't keen on bachelor parties because of the potential for things to get out of control; this is often made harder by the fact that the person organizing the event probably doesn't personally know everyone who'll be there. I don't mean to imply anything about your friends, of course, but there are some unpleasant people out there, and the ladies have to be careful and ensure their own security is looked after, and ensure that sufficient safeguards are in place to guarantee their own well-being. Also - Tremblant would be a fair bit of travelling, so as poolasaurus said, expect to cover expenses. That may include hotel rooms if you want them in the evening and it'll be too late to travel home the same day. Good luck!
