This would have been my 39th anniversary today, but it's my second one alone. Why a highlight? Because it was an amazing 37 years. :)

My mother is nearly 90, wheelchair bound, very frail, and suffering from Alzheimer's. Not a good start for the highlight reel I know. But today when I visited her she was alert(ish) and knew who I was. That's an incredible highlight!!!!

This is my opinion. I think Awards are a bad idea, it separates members and puts certain members "above" other members. I understand the idea of wanting to recognize a members post/contribution on the board but inevitability it will turn into a popularity contest. As was stated previously it caused an issue in the past, one of the posters was questioning whether another member should even be eligible for an award based on the number of posts that member had (or join date I forget which it was). We're human, humans tend to side with like minded people so if you win an award that probably means more people than not agree with what you said i.e. what you said is "popular". There are always exceptions but a member could write a very detailed, well written, well thought out post that a majority of the members disagree with, that post will never win an award. Even the current reputation point process has been evolving based on how members are awarding them. Clearly some current members were trying to prop up some new members so that member has a "higher status. Personally I don't value what is said in a post based on that members status or number of awards won, I agree, disagree, like, don't like the post based on its content. I was never the popular kid in school, can ya tell?

Tricky one, that. As has been noted, any, fixed "Buy X, get one free" scheme is open to abuse, and any worthwhile client will never expect anything (although may be happy to accept whatever you offer :) ). To be fair, the paper makes it clear that "The Erotic Highway" is a sub-section of TER where this kind of thing is discussed. I think that's just a standard journalism fail. Having trashed this paper from a scientific perspective, however, I should acknowledge its usefulness from a political one. The commonly-held view of clients in the wider community does seem, alas, to be that they're a bunch of deviants who are too ugly or weird to get laid without paying for it (yes, I know we know better, but the general public doesn't). And so anything that furthers the fact that not all guys who see SPs are predators and criminals is very much worthwhile.
