2 pointsDiscrimination is a very harsh word... There are endless threads on here discussing the reasons why a lady might choose to restrict who she sees with the ugly connotations of discrimination being just one. My experience in this industry is that I have been struck by just how open to diversity this community is... it has amazed me. I have been active in this lifestyle for quite a few years and frankly when I have cold called a lady from her ad I don't think I can recall a lady specifically asking my age....so I am left to wonder if you are experiencing 50% or more who are concerned with age if it is your approach that raises the concern more then the specific age? Just my Opinion

2 pointsIt seems now with all the new girls at CMJ East and Vibe that now there are many to choose from. Now it's going to be harder to decide who to see. Which is a great problem to have now :)

1 pointWell, I took the plunge with this 40-something MIL* (Note: she doesn't provide the F part ). (The $#@%^& censorship robot had to be circumvented). She provided me with a very detailed message describing her services, and I booked her for the most basic offering, just in case. I needn't have worried. She proved to be very friendly and highly skilled at her craft. I thoroughly enjoyed the build-up and the finale, which left me very happy. I will definitely repeat. Please note that she operates a legit studio in a multi-business building on a busy street a little outside of downtown, and she does not wish any info posted that could possibly identify her. Please be very circumspect on the public board, and very careful when sharing her info in private. I normally provide as much public detail as discretion allows, but in this case, I will err on the side of caution. I will not share details via PM either. There's no need for me to describe the session, since C provides all the info you need to know to book her, and she will deliver. Start by PMing her, and go from there. I'm sure you'll be happy you did.

1 pointAs a child of the late 60's and early 70's the anthems of Bob Dylan and Joan Baez still ring true to me. Justice and freedom are very important to me and as those artists did in their own way through their music and as anti Vietnam war protesters did in their way, Canadians this past week called for their own freedom and their own quest for justice with the overwhelming choice to dump the Harper agenda and his way of dictating. Mr. Trudeau made many election promises and now that he is in the real world it shall be of great interest to me and to many whether he will honor those promises. The promise that probably should be of common interest to all of us here is his opposition to Bill C-36 which has become the bill entitled the, "Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act." There have been references to this in other threads with the general feeling seeming to be that it will not be a priority for Mr. Trudeau to change and therefore we should not expect the repeal of the legislation to happen at least in the short term. Despite being a political junkie and following it closely I am probably one of the least politically aware people in the country about how things actually happen. My own thought is that if it is going to happen then it will have to happen relatively early in his mandate because once another election draws near in four years it would become a political football. This brings me to the point of this thread. When the Supreme Court of Canada struck down the old laws in order to remove dangerous working conditions for sex workers there were many of us here who wrote letters to our Members of Parliament, to the Minister of Justice and to the Prime Minister, all without success. The Conservatives had plotted their course and did what they were going to do regardless of facts or research or the Supreme Court decision. I will argue that now is the time for another writing campaign to our new Members of Parliament, to our new Prime Minister and to the new Minister of Justice once he or she is appointed. As well, since the Supreme Court decision came down I have sent $50 a month, or at least most months, to P.O.W.E.R in order to give my little bit by way of support. It is organizations such as P.O.W.E.R out of Ottawa, and STELLA out of Montreal and P.I.V.O.T out of B.C. that may well be the organizations of sex worker advocates that exert formal, "Pressure," on the new government to repeal the law and decriminalize. Any little bits of financial support that you can send their way may be a wonderful personal investment for each and every one of us. I shall do my letter writing to parliamentarians and continue my little bits of financial support to sex worker rights advocates. I hope that many of us will do the same. Now is not the time to sit back but rather the time to become active and vocal again.

1 pointHi, does any body know what happened to her? She advertized on CL , any intel would be great.
-
1 pointNot sure if this is what you are looking for, but Barbarella's Cabaret on Queen and Lyon is only a block or so away from your hotel (as a matter of fact, I think you can SEE it from the hotel).

1 pointOne of the things you could do is ask the lady if she is available to chat on the phone. That way you can get an idea what she is like and you can ask any questions you may have or concerns. For me, I do all my confirmed bookings in a phone call, this way it allows room for any questions they might have. It also allows me to know how they respond. When you find a lady that you would like to get to know more you can give her a call or send her a text asking if she is available to take your call. Trust your gut, if you like what they look like or how they interact with others/or replies, or the content on their website the chances are you should get in touch with her. For me personally if you are Caucasian, African-american, Jamaican, etc., that doesn't determine whether or not I will see someone. I don't see anyone who is rude or demanding with explicit messages. If they are kind and nice, they get an appointment. Everyone is different. Best of luck in your search :)

1 pointDo you know what triggers the age request? Disrespectful, immature, and "gangsta" style contact. I have met many young men who I gladly spend time with but I will outright ignore those who portray themselves like young morons. "Yo babe", "what do I get for $xxx", "wanna party" etc, while not solely a young persons MO it's more likely than an older gent.

1 pointSweetGuy69, did you have a chance to meet up with her again recently? I have seen the ad pop up occasionally, but gets taken down within a day (don't know what's going on there). I tried texting her, but didn't get a reply back.

1 pointWhen I write mine I shall post it, as many people did the last time. I encourage others to do the same.
-
1 pointIt is quite possible that everyone here, sex workers and clients alike have been jaded by our experience of over a year ago. If you were on Cerb at that time you may well recall the thread about the New Prostitution Law and maybe you were a participant in all the work that was done to fight the new legislation. I know looking back that it leaves a sour taste in my mouth as I saw law makers ignore all of the emails, the Supreme Court, research and most of all, sex workers themselves. I continue to be optimistic that with a new government that appears to be willing to be open minded and fair, that we do have an opportunity. It will require I expect a little push not only from sex worker advocacy groups, but from individuals such as you and I as well. Despite our total lack of success the last time I shall continue encouraging everyone to be vocal and whatever campaign we mounted last time to double it. Wouldn't it be nice to have that law repealed before Joy Smith gets her hands on that $20 million to save women from making their own choices. In our parliamentary system we do have our processes and procedures, and these can take time. I really don't know if the government really does choose to repeal a bill what the steps are. Does it involve a first second and third reading? Are there mandatory committee hearings? Even with success in the House of Commons ultimately a Conservative Senate majority could choose to vote it down? I checked today on the Government of Canada site and the email addresses for our new Members of Parliament will not be available until the first week of November. When that is available I shall post the information. Please, despite our lack of success the last time, do not despair. Become vocal again and support the sex worker advocacy groups that are already out there that are no doubt working on this and deciding upon their approach. With Great Confidence, MN2

1 pointI advertise my real age (34), since I never felt as sexy as in my 30s, with all my curves. I have acquired experience over the years, but I still have a lot to learn... Old enough to know what I'm doing, and young enough to do it well..!

1 pointJust my take on it. The photos a lady provides on her website, profile, ad etc should be enough. I'm guessing in some cases (not all) guys who are requesting pictures have no intention of booking a date, they just want pictures. I also find an irony here. When someone says he needs a photo to decide whether to see a lady or not, then it seems logical that the picture has to include her face? So a lady has to reveal herself in a photo, and as a consequence give up her privacy. But the irony? Likely a lot of the guys requesting those photos (which requires the lady as consequence giving up her privacy) are the same guys who refuse to get verified/screened, because they are concerned about "protecting" their privacy. The lady has to consider one other thing. Once something is put on the internet, it never goes away. So she may be keeping that in mind when she decides to post or not post pics and that too has to be respected Anyhow, the photos a lady provides on her website, profile, ad is what I'll go by. And going by that my experience in this lifestyle has been a positive one A rambling RG
-
1 pointIf someone is responding to a backpage ad I always refer them to lyla. I refuse to send pics as that practice is usually in support of a "pic rip". And said "pic rips" somehow are unable to figure out how to navigate the site. Furthermore, I get peeved when someone requests a face pic before booking. If I wanted that out there, don't you think I would add them in my ads? and, seriously, do I really want to meet you if the criteria includes my head shot? Sorry if I sound a bit bitchy but lately the requests have been numerous and sometimes quite outrageous! Ps....dick pics not required nor desired!

1 pointBeing an SP is one of the best jobs I have ever had. The benefits to having a flexible schedule and enjoying the company of many awesome clients has been super rewarding to me. I really appreciate how this industry has benefited my life.

1 pointThis discussion is heading toward the root of the matter. What must change in the public's mind is what comprises the makeup of a client and what is acceptable behavior. Just as certain galleries except artwork only on the highest caliber from clients who can meet their standards. This is how the definition of "client" much change for this industry. Making it clear that there is an expectation of etiquette, awareness and decency which the prospective client must meet. Abuse of any kind would not be tolerated and would be a source of shame for the client. In other words, clients would have to meet standards. However it seems to me, that in the modern world, we are moving in the other direction. Where every bazaar impulse is being glorified. Just look at the media and the number of reality TV shows. This is actually why I started this thread, because I hope the industry and community through dialogue can affect in a positive way this trend. Good clients out there should help mentor society to change in their beliefs.... there's a thought. A client mentorship program. Not based on shame, but rather, cultivating the best human standards. Good guys, we need you to come out of the closet, to help change the experience for everyone. PatrickGC

1 pointI'm sorry, this will be rather long, and my English is not the best... I think this is a job. And I like to think we are specialists doing it. But each moment spent with a client is a new challenge... What does he likes? What kind of personnality does he have? Will it click? Well, as every profession, to do it right and to do it well, it requires passion. As an urgentist that is saving lives by putting all his heart into it, it's the same with us... We do it from all our heart, and eventhough there's some ''less fun moments'', if you compare pros and cons, this is the best profession ever! Passion never leaves, it's in our blood. This is what we are meant to be. Plus, we get spoiled, massaged, kissed, and well... We are well taking care of... ;)

1 pointI think some of the attachment problems may be due to people being young or inexperienced or even just in a bad place in their lives. When I first got started 3 or 4 years ago, I was starved for love, affection, attention, etc. So much missing in my life caused me to develop inappropriate feelings that led to much grief. I wasn't able to separate sex and chemistry from real love and attachment. Experience makes such a huge difference. I totally understand what ER means. If there's no chemistry there's no point and there's no way to force it to happen. Only experience, however, will let you understand that you can have tremendous chemistry and really like each other while never forgetting the true nature of the relationship. I enjoy this hobby so much more now that I have no confusion in that regard. I would definitely walk away from any situation in which I felt un-reciprocated 'feelings' were being developed by EITHER party.
-
1 pointI love what I do and have trouble calling it "a job". I only started 6 months ago, and had the chance to be "mentored" by two wonderful professional independent ladies (thank you again my friends). I feel so lucky to have met them exactly at the moment I needed them. I quit two part-time jobs to get into this activity because I needed to experience something else, but also because I was - and am - totally reviewing my vision of life, in general. Let's call it a "big review". This is for sure one of the best decisions I have taken in my life, and absolutely do not regret it. There is way more companionship and psychology involved in doing this, than it is about the "adult games". The real intimacy is this, being human with someone, exchanging with someone. What a gift to give and to receive. And sometimes, it can even become a luxury, because our lives are so stressful, complicated, painful etc... I shared some time with a gentleman a few days ago who just wanted to talk for hours. Just talking and sweetness. This is what he truly needed and wanted. It is moving to think that by just being me and listening to him, offering some sweetness, I helped him a lot. I think that this is one of the best jobs in the world. I also think that people who do not get this job do not get a big part of what being human is. And this is so sad.

1 pointI agree with the OP and I enjoyed reading all these positive comments .... ... but I'd like to also add that whoever, with good intent, supports Bill C36, would do well to read a thread like this. As SPs, we're not victims. We're professionals. We chose, and continue to choose every day. If you read "Dilbert" cartoons you'll see that being a software engineer in a badly-managed company can be more miserable than being a SP. As someone who has been a software engineer in a badly-managed company and is currently also a happy SP, I can attest to that. ... and if some bad person abducted someone and forced her to work as a pizza delivery worker that doesn't mean all pizza delivery should become illegal. Ditto for sex work. So, when folks use that argument for bills like C36 it makes no sense to me. .Tanya
