  1. Any chance of something like this happening these days, in light of C-36?
  2. At least there’s the London Ontario court challenge coming up in February.... If the court strikes down the third party advertising provision, perhaps it will create further impetus for change by way of additional challenges to the law.
  3. Very true, and as you said... very unfortunate. It will be interesting to see what the new year brings... After all, Trudeau’s Justice Minister did say she was going to take a hard look at C-36 in 2019 - hopefully something will come of that...
  4. Congratulations, Cato! I always enjoy reading your insightful and informative posts. Keep it up.
  5. Wonder if Celeste will ever be back... I know she retired, but not sure of the reason or if it’s temporary/permanent....
  6. Maybe all of the older members should be credited 1000 bonus points to put us on an even keel! 😂
  7. Sounds like he’s new to the site and just looking for some info/guidance... You’ve come to the right place, Mark. Enjoy!
  8. I have a Vitamix and I swear by it... if you pick one up on sale you can get one for about $450 to $500.
  9. I’ve had similar issues, and no - you’re not imagining it. A prescription medication that’s worked very well for me is Axert (Migraine Therapy). One tiny pill can reverse or at least decrease the intensity of a migraine if taken early enough.
  10. Click the ‘stolen pics’ link and scroll down a bit on her Twitter page - Taylor states she is only available in Calgary, and also describes her imposter as ‘relentless’.
  11. What about PC Mobile? (Loblaws/Superstore) Is that the same type of setup as Petrocan and 7/11? E.g. A phone you can activate and add talk time without providing any personal information? I heard Koodoo is taking them over.
  12. All good points, here. To offer another perspective on painting people in certain areas with the same brush, consider that society at large does this to our community/industry as a whole! The motto is the same; don’t always judge a book by its cover. The only real downside (regardless of area) for those who are victims of robberies by unsavoury providers, is that reporting to police entails outing one’s self. It’s a bit of a catch 22...
  13. Just a question; By using your regular phone / real phone number, are you concerned with your activities potentially being traced back to you? E.g. LE gaining access to an SP’s phone records and text messages? Perhaps I’m just being paranoid with that possibility actually occurring. However, after C-36, it seems more hobbyists are switching to burner phones to avoid such a scenario. Also, is it possible to just buy a pay as you go phone from Loblaws or Best Buy without signing up with them and instead insert a burner SIM card from another provider like 7/11 or Petro Can?
  14. I thought of that, but not sure how secure e-mail actually is. Just the other day, I read an article about Google supposedly “reading” people’s emails. Now, some suggest getting an encrypted email account - however, what if you have encrypted e-mail but the lady doesn’t? The communication flows through to her end, so you may not be any better off. I agree with you regarding the phone call aspect; These days though, it seems texting is the method of choice, with a lot of ladies specifying “text only” in their ads.
  15. I’ve had the same thought with regard to outcalls, as you have to give out your address.
  16. Just a couple of points to add here... I may be wrong, but I don’t think you need a prepaid credit card to register your phone online. I think that’s free - all you need is a name, email address and your phone number. Some will actually send your temporary passcode straight to your phone via text message after you have successfully registered. Also, you make a point about going to random spots to purchase top ups in person - To avoid this hassle, you can also purchase a prepaid card, and then top up your minutes online from the comfort of your home.
  17. Well said, Katherine..., Hopefully individuals here will take heed - Remember to think with the big head, not the small one!
  18. Wow... although this happened about 17 years ago, I sincerely hope the lady was in fact compensated for her time by the owner. Such a thought hadn’t even occurred to me, given it would be terribly unfair to the lady in question... For what it’s worth, I did give her a generous tip.
