  1. I agree and I apologize for getting defensive. These types of threads, more often than not, deteriorate into an argument that is pointless.
  2. Actually, nobody ever claimed that scammers never post ads on LL. Of course they do and I have stated so. I never claimed it was rare so don't say I did. You were the one that claimed 2/3 of women no-show or scam and I merely responded to RG's post that refutes that claim. Mostly the no-show part.
  3. I think guys will find that all the ladies that tour will require advance bookings with deposits. It has become the the norm, rather than the exception. And it's not just Ft. Mac or Grande Prairie. It's everywhere, be it Calgary, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Vancouver or whatever. Far too many people out there not acting right making the honest ones have to deal with the repercussions. I spent 6 years in the Peace area and lots of ladies tour there regularly. Mostly without incident but it only takes a few bad experiences to change things. When I last visited with Athena Lust, she was very worried about having to require deposits from her trusted clients but because even a few of those cancelled or no showed, she had no choice. Some guys get on their high horse about it and swear up and down they won't do it but it's happening for a reason. Fwiw, I have never taken issue with it because I understand it. It's not isolated to this service industry either. Virtually every business requires pre-payment or deposit of some sort. And sometimes bad shit happens from either or both sides of the business transaction. Hell, construction companies, for years, have been ripped off by big corporations and developers. I guess I'm just saying it's our society as a whole. We get focussed in on this industry because of the intimate nature of it and because that's our reason for being on this site. But the bottom line is, everywhere we go and every business dealing we have has the possibility of going bad because of the nature of humans. We can only try to be our best and do our own due diligence to help our odds in avoiding pitfalls but there are no guarantees.
  4. Yeah, in 7+ years, I have had 2 or 3 no shows, and never been scammed out of my money. This while spending the majority of that time in the oil patch. Probably 75-85 encounters with several different ladies. As I said earlier in this thread, most of those scammers are pretty easy to spot when you think with the big head.
  5. I am a fan as well and have had the distinct pleasure of meeting Athena and getting to know her. And as great a person as the one you see online, the real person is even more wonderful. Great nomination RG. Our world needs to recognize the wonderful people and we can always use more positive energy in these troubling times.
  6. That's a good point . When you see an ad for $150/hr or less, it is always suspect. But there are quite a few cheapskate idiots out there who will jump at it . Of course, a quick reverse image search will usually prove that the ad is fake. Had two of them out here in Kamloops just yesterday on LL advertising for 150. Quick search and they are IG models in NYC. I only searched to satisfy my curiosity after posting on here about scammers. Fwiw, I've met lots of ladies of LL and before that BP that were legit and great. Some do not interact on forums or review boards by choice. Some are local girls who only do this part time. Or ladies that live in nearby cities that just come up for a weekend trip. To me, it's less about the site and more about me just using common sense. I don't have the benefit of living in a large city with the resources such as Lyla so LL becomes more of a necessity.
  7. Absolutely @Greenteal. My point was merely regarding the provider taking time out to text or call or receive a call during the appointment. Normally, that's a sore point with most clients, including myself but if I am aware for this reason, I am okay with it.
  8. Ha ha, no, that one would seriously not be good. I'm trying to figure out if "Johnny cum lately" is a good thing or bad thing. Cheers Bonnie. 😁
  9. As a client, I don't mind that if I'm informed. I met a lady once who did this and told me that she had security nearby and would be checking in twice during our hour. I had no issue with it. If she was spending more time on her phone setting up other bookings or just chit chatting, then I would not be happy. But security and being transparent about that is a good thing in my books.
  10. I have never really cared to be called a hobbyist even before I saw that a lot of people look on the term negatively. I will say that the term isn't nearly as bad as trick or john. My name isn't John so I am not "a" John, "the" John or "one of the" Johns. And the term "trick" is just loaded with all kinds of negative stuff and really just sounds wrong. Hobbyist seemed to be a nice euphemism for awhile but as usual, people ( namely misogynist idiots) have managed to fuck that up too. I guess client is okay but when I introduce myself, I prefer gentleman. I'm kind of an old soul in that regard. I do have one lady friend in the industry who nicknamed me "Peachy". I kinda like that one, always puts a little smile on my face.
  11. I'm very sorry for your friend and hope that somehow, this guy is brought to justice. All other SPs in your area need to be warned about him and I would hope your local police have the sense to not judge your friend and do their damn job. I'm glad your friend has support from you and you continue to support her any way you can. I don't know the answer but hope she recovers okay and gets the help she needs to A) deal with the physical and emotional trauma and B) get justice. Hopefully, we get this idiot behind bars before he does this again or worse, kills someone.
  12. I would just ad that a quick reverse image search can help immensely in avoiding some pitfalls, A lot of the scammers steal pictures from other ladies ads or from other sites. As much as the images can draw our attention to the ads, they can be misleading. This is somewhat sad as many of these beautiful ladies invest a lot of time & energy into these fantastic professional shoots as well as a financial investment. But again, it's about the total package of the ads and sites. As for Leolist, it is basically Backpage under a new name. The whole "verified photo" thing is stupid and means absolutely nothing. Another thing to check is if the same ad is posted in more than one city at the same time. Scammers will flood Leolist like chumming the waters fishing. As for the ladies on sites like this, they are here because they are professionals. You will find that the deposits are a necessity that will be the standard rather than the exception. This is due to all those asshats out there who no show and cancel and waste these ladies' time. We should look at it as a good thing from our perspective. How many times do one of us good clients end up not being able to see one of these lovely ladies because of these guys. It's not fair that she loses out on a good client because of some idiot timewaster.
  13. If I may interject here, this conversation is going nowhere as is. As someone who has lived in the oil patch and understands the dynamic, I will try to help you all understand. To Jaden, I get what you are saying but you are only concentrating on the scammers here. Yes, there are a lot of them on Leolist and there always will be in places like Ft. Mac because there are too many guys there with a big wad of cash and a raging hard-on and little in the way of common sense. So it is easy money for the crooks. However, it is very easy to spot the scammers and to differentiate them from the legit touring ladies such as some of the ones here on Lyla who tour. It is more than just an ad on LL. Take the time to check out both their website & presence on forums such as this and you can tell if they are on the up & up. Also, read the ads closely and start to understand the language the scammers use. They really aren't all that clever. You can't assume every provider is a scam. There are many ladies who I will not hesitate to etransfer the entire donation to. But I will not do it to a complete unknown. If you aren't comfortable with it, don't do it but don't bother complaining about it either on forums like this. It's a waste of energy and only creates unnecessary drama. As for all of you here on Lyla, I understand what you are saying but you are looking at it from your perspective as legitimate providers and clients used to dealing with legitimate SPs. Believe me when I tell you that places like Ft Mac and Grande Prairie and other boom areas will always draw their fair share of less than desirable people. I think Jaden here just hasn't learned the nuances of this industry in these areas. When I first got into this, I had a few disappointments although I was never scammed out of my money. There's a learning curve but I also have always been pretty astute when reading ads. I am merely just stating here that although the complaint here is possibly misdirected to the wrong people, his beef is somewhat understandable. Cheers to you all and have a safe and happy day.
  14. I see they have a "Snowpiercer" series on now. I haven't watched but thought the original movie was fantastic. If it's still on there, Kodachrome is an excellent watch with Ed Harris. If into boxing, Cinderella Man with Russell Crowe is very good as well. Far better than Rocky, imo. Far superior acting, better social commentary and a true story.
  15. I agree. Putting all the other concerns about our anonymity and legalities aside for a moment, it still doesn't help the providers all that much. Like I posted on Twitter about this, every client/provider encounter and relationship is different. Sometimes it's just a matter of personalities not meshing and the bad vibe and lack of chemistry. Much like all those reviews out there, they are all from just a point of view. Providers that have been around and are successful usually have a very good criteria that works for them, be it screening, deposits or more. I met one lovely lady out here who after the initial text requires speaking on the phone to a potential client. She gets a better feel of the client from his voice inflection and the spontanaiety of a conversation. It works for her and when I talked to her, we hit it off great. Probably not for everyone but she said her system works about 95% of the time. I understand that some might think this can somehow make things easier but I honestly see it as being somewhat of an inconvenience for providers in the long term. Honestly, even though mine and several of my co members who post here or on Twitter or whatever seem like stand up guys with integrity and likely are, the internet is filled with clever people who aren't what they seem. In the end, being verified basically means very little, imo.
  16. For me it's not about funds or whether I would like it.Fwiw, I've done some online chat stuff and it's okay but not the same as the real feel of a woman in my arms. The reason I haven't is that I have virtually zero privacy where I live now so it's just not an option. Plain and simple. As for seeing ladies in person, yes I have a couple of times. Ladies I am already familiar with and feel safe with.
  17. I've been asked (not on here but elsewhere) those 3. I never, ever give out any of that info. Services and rates are in the ad or on the website or if not, she will tell you. And that is up to the provider's discretion. As for what hotel she is staying at or anything of that nature, major red flag. Don't ever ask and don't ever offer. If anyone asked me, I would immediately report them to admin.
  18. That is my thoughts as well. I am really not as hung up on the particulars because I find it takes away some of the spontaneous and natural flow. Of course, there are a lot of guys out there who are very particular but even suggesting certain acts can be problematic with those types. They don't seem to grasp the concept of YMMV.
  19. I've done a few e-transfer deposits and even paid in full in advance a couple times without any issues. Of course, I'm talking about SP's who are well known and reputable as well. And some ladies that I already know have had to start asking for deposits and I am willing to oblige them because I understand why. They have been getting so many cancellations and no-shows that it is something they have to do to protect their business. As for the LL fly by night types, that is a different story altogether. If it seems sketchy or shady, it likely is.
  20. On a few occasions, I've visited touring ladies at one of the local hotels where the staff knows who I am because I have done service work for them. That can be a little awkward but like you RG, I have a quick back story at the ready if I'm asked. Honestly, I think they know why I'm there anyway but I have never been asked. I never walk in nervous or shifty looking and always make eye contact with the staff and say hello. I have only been asked by staff one time if I needed assistance. I simple told them no thank you and made my way casually to the elevator.
  21. I often have had no choice but to drive to nearby bigger cities but when I have had touring ladies visiting my smaller town and I've been driving my work truck that everybody knows, I have at times parked at Walmart or Canadian Tire and walked over to her hotel. I don't have the SO issue to deal with but sometimes customers could get curious and ask questions. Obviously, it all depends on what you have in your town for shopping options and how close they are to the hotel or incall.
  22. Very well said and I agree. Especially about how this topic would be or is received on more mainstream social media. I've noticed that even making comments on Twitter to escorts that support their need for courtesy and respect will often illicit some negative responses from some men out there. Comments like,"don't be such a pussy." and what-not. Of course, usually from some younger macho dude who wants to be an internet tough guy and somehow thinks this is attractive to women. What they fail to realize is that being a gentleman and treating women with their due respect is actually more "manly" in many women's eyes. I don't need to "act tough" or be an asshole because I am confident in who I am as a man.
  23. I agree with others that this is definitely a form of sexual assault. There really isn't a "grey area" in that. Obviously, alcohol played a factor here and she acknowledged that in her halfhearted apology. But perhaps someone should sit down with her and ask her to think about how she would feel or react if the shoe was on the other foot. I've never really done the strip club experience. It's just not something I have any interest in but from what I understand, they have pretty strict rules about how far us gents can go and we are in big trouble if we cross boundaries. I don't think she should get off the hook here just because people think we are just a bunch of horn dogs and pervs because we are men.
  24. That's interesting. Honestly, I can't give very much insight on the lack of sex. For my ex and me, the sex was never really a problem. We were both very oral and passionate in bed. One negative in our sex life was that she had a tough time with natural lubrication. Not always but often and would be quite painful for me. We would have to use lubes which I sometimes find I have to be careful with because some of them gave me a burning sensation. That could be a turn off for me and make it difficult to maintain an erection. Of course, with escorts, having a condom on prevents that situation so lubes are fine. The one thing I find interesting in that post was the women saying when they tried something new, the guy would show a hint of jealousy or suspicion. I was never that way and actually, she would often interrogate me about how many women I had been with and where I learned this or that. That was also very off putting for me. As for what women want, I've been pretty good about the sexual part. It's all the other emotional and mental stuff that I will likely never figure out.
  25. Recently watched "Outlaw King" on Netflix. Historical drama of the Scottish rebellion following the death of William Wallace (Braveheart). Chris Pine portrays Robert the Bruce who took back Scotland from King Edward and at the end Edward II. Three very good movies that I picked up on Blu-ray this year were... Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri. Gritty, edgy and very good acting performances by Francis McDormand and Sam Rockwell.. Hell or High Water. Gritty crime drama of two brothers robbing a bank that was trying to legally rob people in Texas and then using the stolen money to pay off the mortgage to that very same bank before foreclosure. Hostiles. A very disturbing portrait of the treatment of the Native American people in the west and the real human toll that it took on those involved. And in the end, how a man filled with a lot of hate came to realize that a person's race does not define right & wrong or good & evil as he comes to admire and respect his most hated enemy. Excellent performances by Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike.
