what impact does nasty posts have on your decision?

Recommended Posts

I am curious to know...

If you see nasty things on other sites about ladies what is your first impression?

Lately eveytime I visit STJ there are nasty posts about me.

Really doesn't hurt my feelings as I know the truth about me as do those who spent time with me. So no I don't cry over it. I see posts on other ladies too and do flag what I see .

So just wondering as a hobbyist, what is your first thoughts when you see this?

Are you inclined to run away? Does it make you even more curious about her?

Have you ever flagged a post you knew were false? Tell me your thoughts, I am interested to know.

Either way, I can say none of these posts hold water, have no truth and is redundant to posts such things. I mean really!

But on another note ...what does suck is there are times when someone is truly trying to warn others of a potentially dangerous situation but with so many false slandering posts out there no one can tell the difference between a real warning or a fake one.

Thank goodness for this site on this aspect. I know some complain about no negative reviews, but at least this way we can tell the diff between a real warning or a fake one!

Interested in reading your comments and thoughts. But please keep this thread informed and on topic. Lol

Before learning of Cerb I did use another site. The approach here is positive. That's to my liking and keeps me here. Part of the fun of being a hobbyist is to have a good time. There is enough nastiness out there without having to go looking for it.

I appreciate the observation about warnings. That's another plus about Cerb where we have the Mod, who can vet complaints and suspend users if need be.

Well as a human being, I'm hardwired to be judgmental. But as a critically thinking human being, I also know that often when someone's spitting venom, they're hardly keeping to the facts.

So it depends on what was said and how it was said. If was written out as a calm, rational account of an occurrence then it's going to seem a lot more legit than some slavering rant. If it looks like it was written by someone who is pissed off, you can be pretty sure there's at least some exaggeration and at worst outright lies being told.

Also you have to consider the source. Does a poster have a reputation for being a demanding child who pitches a fit (writes a scathing review) every time things don't go their way? Or is the poster generally reasonable and understanding that a bad experience isn't necessarily anyone's fault? The source can tell you a lot about what biases may be at play.

And usually it's fairly easy to spot ladies who are trying to run a smear campaign with bull-crap reviews. Those tactics only come back and bite them in the ass because most clients aren't stupid and won't even visit a lady who pulls that stuff.

Barring anything that I would consider extreme, I generally rely on my own experiences of people. Hearing what others have to say can give you input, but again, that input is often only a portion of the whole picture.

That's how I approach things like that. Also interested in what others think.

Additional Comments:

There is enough nastiness out there without having to go looking for it.

YES!!! That's precisely my way of thinking.

Considering the source of where these posts are originating from, it's pretty much a no brainer to take what's being said with a grain of salt. It's obviously someone's attempt to discredit you for whatever reason. I would trust that gents can see right through this.

The mere fact you have glowing recommendations on this board only goes to show you that for every bad thing being said about you, the good outweighs it 10-fold.

The "I'll cut the competition down so I can get more business" model is fraught with so many negatives that if they were to use that energy to promote their own business instead of cutting you up, they wouldn't need to worry.

I have had it happen to me and it's not fun, but try and keep your chin up Sophia and bear them no mind. They aren't worth it.

But you are so worth it!!

I've been around this game for a long long time and have found no real value in the reviews or recommendations from the various sites. I take everything into context as far as comments are concerned. If some one doesn't interest me then I won't pay any attention to reviews or recommendations at all. If some one does I might or might not, over the years you develop an ear as it were to whom you might be interested in then after that it becomes individual diligence.

Reading how folks interact and present themselves for me often tells more about the person than any thing else and plays a part in my decision making process.

Peace

MG

This all great input so far thank you everyone! I am not posting just. For my situation, but for many others who also experience this, I went to batt for a male escort not long ago, it seems you just can't win over a troll. I posted in his behalf as I could not stand to see this guy get slandered so badly. Was sad and I feared for his safety....I don't even know him! Lol

But that is kind of person I am, I hate to watch someone get slandered so badly.

Anyhow, thanks y' all

As someone that is new to this I must admit that when I see the negative or a down right mean spirited post I do get a bit nervous. But I have learned to use this site to find the positive and truthful reviews. If a Lady is well reviewed on this site I feel completely at ease to contact her. This site has made me less afraid of having a bad experience. Another thing I believe you still need to use your common sense and not believe everything you read. It is easy to knock someone down when your hiding behind a user name.

Lady Sophia I saw the filth that was posted on CL about you but I never believed it because all that I read on this site about you has been positive. Keep your spirits up and remember your better then anybody who tries to knock you down.

1. 1st impression guy was dirty, rude or something else bad that caused the girl to kick him out.

2. No, won't run away but will try for more feedback

3. more curious - no

4. Flagged post: yes for a very well known and respected MA. I posted a rebuttal. She came back and thanked me.

I think a girl could include in her post that she is well reviewed on Cerb, Terb or something that gives the reader more to go on.

Just wanted to add that you'll notice it's always usually the same bunch who do the slagging. They are so transparent.

Chemistry is different for different people. The way a person posts and the wording can be a factor for me whether someone is worth a look. There were several times that I might not have been physically attracted to a person but really liked their quirkiness to give them a try.

I think it's a shame when anonymous bullies do this. It's really a shame and seems to be really prevalent in the maritimes lately.

I'm sorry you are experiencing this Sophia. It's really bs and those that have met you know it for what it is. Chin up beautiful.

I find most often the nasty negative reviews tell me more about the kind of person the poster is rather than the person they're reviewing. If anything it makes the poster sound like a jerk and he probably had a bad time because he was a jerk.

I can't say I ever had a bad date. The questionable ones I prefer to look at it as a learning experience. It's like watching a bad movie "ya didn't like it, so what, someone else might."

So no, bad reviews hold very little to me, unless my safety is at risk then I may question a bit.

Sophia

Happy to hear that these negative posts about you don't get under your skin. You are a classy lady, and I'm sure that that some SP aren't pleased to see you are here. I can attest after meeting with you a few times that us guys are very pleased that you have decided to visit our city on a regular basis. I appreciate your maturity and honesty. You are exactly who you say you are, and I for one have a great respect for you. My advice to other guys is to ask someone who knows you. I would have no issue with you asking someone to private message me for a recommendation at any time.

I'm hoping that you are here for the long run.

Guys, this is a classy lady, so treat her right and enjoy her presence here.

The trouble is, it could be sabotage from just about anyone; a disgruntled ex, a competitor sp, an agency operator who wants it all or simply someone with nothing better to do. It can also be legitimate, hence the challenge!!

If we're talking solely about sites like Craigslist where the posts are about as anonymous as you can get, then no. The negatives (and even positives) the get posted are something I totally ignore. There's just no way to determine validity.

I will, however, pay attention to what someone says if they have an easily traceable history online (site like LYLA, Twitter, etc.). How closely I pay attention depends on my feelings towards that person and the impression they've made on me. Still, as always, one needs to "Make up their own damned mind." :)

Anyway...my 2 cents.

I'd have to say that my answer is ............ it depends.

Anonomous type places like Craigslist never disappoint if one is looking for off color and poorly worded / spelled remarks and coments. Sometimes it's just insluting things about providers and or hobbiests. --- Taken by itself I'd have to say it has no or next to no effect in terms of determining if or not I would potentially consider contacting a SP for me to read one of these "reviews" (if one could call them that). That said occasionally a sp will respond and engage the anonomous poster and that might make me take notice and would almost always negatively effect my thoughts about taking a chance on someone unknown to me. Not that long ago I read one of these back and forth where esentially the SP (assuming it was her) insulted the guy right back and indicated that she should text his spouse.

But I mean thats CL and many ads themselves read like angry individuals posting on a dating site listing all the things they hate and all the folks that shouldn't bother even messaging them etc.

Anyway generally speaking I'd say the crap on the anonomous sites is rarely taken seriously by anyone and any SP that finds any of them directed towards her -- I strongly encourage to ignore them too because frankly engaging them is beneath you and can't posibly do anything but sully your reputation ..... that or nothing it will never make things better.

There are other places where hobbyists and sp's can advertise / research besides BP/CL or CERB. I certainly appreciate the theme of CERB -- but a positive recommendation or nothing kind of site is NOT a review site and as such doesn't exactly cater to hobbyists ...... yes there are lots of good things for a Hobbyist here and the boards themselves are or at least can be a wealth of knowledge.

There are other places where actual reviews are shared. I do lend more credence to the information shared there. I've yet to encounter anyone simply trashing a SP and if something approaching that happens it is easy to spot and often challenged ...... and to be honest lots of Negative reviews are followed by hobbyists who pipe up and are very quick to share that their experience was different (better) ..... I'm inclined to consider the poster in those cases, and yes find the information useful and definately influences to some degree my diecision as to how my money and time is spent.

So to answer the question ---- for me it depends but some anonymous yahoo is nothing I take too seriously.

I've really only looked at reviews on this site, don't really go near CL as I find there are too many d&%K pictures for me... I take PM or Bait and Switch comments seriously on this site. Although if it is a comment on age, or service menu I form my own opinion. I look out more for unsafe situations or warnings, by PM. So comments on CL I wouldn't rely on unless they were validated by a long term member of this site.

This is a great way of stating what I was trying to say in my OP.

At least here... you can know what the real dangers are compared to possible smear campaigns! At least on here a reco is a reco, but a WARNING is for real, as mods do look and investigate this.

Thanks for the reminder and support of knowing what is real or not:)

It's difficult to keep everyone happy! Out-the-door with the negativity ... Some ladies bark at others, and some meowww at me ... I prefer those who meowww at me ....

I take posts with a strong degree of skepticism... What I like is not necessarily what other people like... In the past, if I saw a post about a girl I'd never seen, it might turn me off, but not necessarily. Lately I've stopped looking for reviews... I've only once ever been disappointed by a session (the girl didn't seem to be interested in me at all)...

all the rest were wonderful... So I don't bother looking for other people's opinions anymore. I usually book through agencies... I'm more concerned about reviews of the agency then the girl... so I do look for information on the agency.

I must say I don't like negative posts either. I find them disrespectful.

I've read some posts about girls I've seen and replied back defending the girl.

I think the responses to this have been very sugar coated;just like this Board.

Of course a negative review may affect someone's choice. However it is the same a s negative review on trip advisor or yelp. I will consider the source and how it is written. However, when you see the same negative experience being described by numerous posters, one must be careful.

If it's a one-off it doesn't affect my choice.

I am sorry but how in the world is this sugar coated? I am talking about disgusting posts such as : I have rotten teeth? I am an old hag? I must be on drugs because I am thin???? There is nothing further than the truth! And EVEN IF IT WERE , is still my choice and right to work no matter! And EVEN IF TRUE.... the " gent" was the one who booked me and stayed, so what does it say about him too???

My pics are exactly accurate with not even photo enhancing. How is the posts of all the local ladies all so terrible? You really think every lady that has been abused on that CL site could actually be in business if such was the truth???? Wouldn't last a month let alone the 7 years I have been here!

Perhaps going there and taking a peek at the horrible posts, you would understand my need to start this thread. We are real people with feelings, and if you don't like us, don't book us! There are some who actually get their jolly from posting these hate posts for whatever reason. It is fun game for them, but this is our livelihoods! GAWD forbid if one of them has an off day at their job, to have things of this nature blasted on the internet!!

It is another thing to this or that, but none have been a thief, a scam or nothing to warrant such awful slander! And dollars to bets, if that site was not anonymous I would exercise my legal rights to the fullest!

Ohhh if you call it " sugar coating" , WE CALL IT SUPPORTIVE AND POSSITVE IN THIS COMUNITY!

So far with me I have paid no attention in the negativity in what some say when it comes for me to visit a certain SP, I like to form my own conclusions some I have posted in reco's or I have kept them to myself.

My thoughts when I see someone getting bashed on other sites I come to quick conclusion it's someone who is jealous of whoever they are talking about, it could be another SP or a male who didn't get the permission to see that particular lady he is bashing. I for one understand every SP has to think of her safety first so there can be lots of reasons for a visit with someone not happening. In my three years as an active hobbiest I have had nothing but positive visits with anyone I have met so my deepest thought on this subject is jealousy can make people do strange things, the sad part about it some very nice ladies get hurt which is unfortunate.
