6 pointsIt's Mother's Day today, and I would like to offer my best wishes, and my thanks to all SPs and MAs that have children. It's your day and hope you will enjoy it. In this hobby, we forget too often that many ladies here take care of a family. Well, to these wonderful ladies, let this Day be for you and your loved ones.

6 pointsMy CERB Goddess Of The Day today is Angela Of Ottawa. Angela is a wonderful SP, and friend. I also know she cares about her friends deeply. On CERB, she shares her insights and wisdom, contributing to CERB being a positive community. And on a sidenote, this summer I'm taking Angela out fishing RG Angela's Profile http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/member.php?u=24465 Some recommendations http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?ltr=A&t=18924

5 pointsI never thought I could fall in love with people through a keyboard but I have. Gabriella, you honour me to no end. Thank you! So after mopping up the tears, here goes. I have so much respect for so many ladies here for every reason imaginable that I could be here all weekend. I know there are repeats but I started this yesterday & can't choose just one. I hope that's ok Meg, btw great thread idea, you are a doll. Lexy Grace: With her busy life, takes time every day to help out other ladies here, some of whom she has never met & may never meet. Protect them, support them, rally around them. You touch me with your thoughtful generosity, open heart, selfless energy & are without a doubt the definition of Cerb sisterhood. Emily Rushton: From 3000 miles away has shared with me her unparalleled business acumen, advice & support. And does this for every lady here. You are one of the warmest, kindest, most giving people I know & have shown me a friendship & trust that I will forever treasure. Samantha Evans: An ambassador for the industry if ever there was one. Brilliant, articulate, strong & so very caring of others. Raising the bar daily & setting the standard by which we should all attempt to be measured. You are grace personified. Words alone could never convey how grateful I am for these & all the other Cerbettes. ( My word of the day...take it 'n' go....) Know though that I feel truly blessed to be in your company. See you tomorrow! Sandi Moon

4 pointsTomorrow is Mother's Day. While it's too late to send a card, and ordering flowers for delivery might be difficult, even if you made the mail on time and/or ordered the bouquet, please, please, please remember to call your mother. Mother's Day began as a day for peace. After the Civil War, American women set aside this day to reflect on peace and an end to war, on no longer sending their sons to kill other women's sons. Mother's Day is a call for peace. If your relationship is strained or broken, please try to bring a little bit of peace into it. For just ten minutes this weekend, let go of the hurt and call your mom anyway. If you've tried in the past and it didn't go well, set that aside, too. Take a deep breath and do it. Call your mom. You don't have to pretend that things are okay. Just call, please. For those of us who have lost a child, especially if that child is alive and knows where we are, Mother's Day is very hard. Whether the break is our fault, or our doing, or whether someone else engineered the alienation, this is a heart-wrenching time. And if the distance is because of something the child has done, the mother feels the separation acutely. No matter what, your mother can never forget you. If you have a good relationship with your mother, celebrate it! She won't be around forever. While children yearn to be adults who move away from their parents and into their own, separate lives, parents continue to be parents for as long as they live. If your mother is no longer living, remember her. Call someone else--a family member, a neighbour, a friend--and wish her a happy Mother's Day instead. Mothering is hard. We all appreciate being appreciated! Call your mom!

4 pointsMy Goddess of the day is SaraMQ I've only know her for about 15 months but I feel I've know her for over 10 years. I consider her a really good friend...that when I am around my level of excitement go up of 200%. She is witty, doesn't hide anything and will always stand for her friends. I miss her dearly :(

4 pointsMy pick for Goddess of the Day would be the lovely Katherine who I had the pleasuring of meeting this week when she was visiting Ottawa. She is everything you could imagine not just as an SP, but a nice person all round! Katherine is intelligent, witty, classy, attractive, fit (yes I got to squeeze hee hee). Oh, and she has a nice touch (soothing energy). I just wish you lived closer, Katherine. Love your smile.

3 pointsI consider myself fortunate to have met Penelope in the early days of my Cerb membership. She is a sweet and incredibly sexy lady who is the rocker chick and the girl next door all in the same package. She is sensitive and shy yet very into whatever happens behind closed doors. One of Canada's sweethearts. http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/member.php?u=35208 I see from recent posts that she will shortly be taking a break from Cerb for a while so I am indeed fortunate to have met her when I did. Her recommendations speak for themselves from the various cities across Canada. http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=33948 (Nova Scotia) http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?ltr=A&t=43409 (Ottawa) My choice as todays Goddess of the Day. - Penelope Davis

2 pointsThis has been talked about at great length in the past; do some searching and you'll find a lot of threads on it (like this one, which is in this forum and was made sticky for precisely this reason). In a nutshell, prostitution itself is and always has been legal. There are three things that are not legal, which are: First, "living off the avails" (ie profiting from someone else's prostitution), which was probably aimed at making pimps illegal but also prevents SPs from employing security or drivers, and may be used against the landlord if the SP uses an incall that she doesn't own, or against her family if she supports them. Second, running or being found in a "bawdy house" (ie a brothel), which is usually defined as a single location used by at least one prostitute to see more than one client. Note that it has *never* applied to a client's home, so outcalls have always been legal. Thirdly, communication for the purposes of prostitution - but only in a public place (this one was aimed at, and completely screws over, SPs who work on the streets). This doesn't include conversations where there's a reasonable expectation of privacy (e.g. a phone conversation), and the entire Internet has been found in court not be a place under this law. In Ontario, the first two have been struck down by the appeals court and the whole lot is on its way to the Supreme Court, so the chances of anything related to any of this being actually tried before the SC rules on it are minimal. Having said all that: the police don't give a shit about you, or who you have fun with, or what you give them in return, provided everyone consents to everything and the neighbors don't complain. The only times you really see the police doing anything are when people running incalls have become so disruptive that the police have been forced to step in and do something. But most SPs fly completely under the radar on this, and the police have a million and one better things to be doing... especially given that the relevant law is currently being challenged in the highest court in any case. Visiting a reputable lady's incall might be technically illegal right now (outside Ontario) but it's like driving at 101 on the highway. So: go out, have fun, stop worrying :)

2 pointsAngela of Ottawa Perhaps should be called " Angel of Ottawa". She really took the time to get to know me over this past year. She so intelligent, wise, always fair. She has the best upbeat personality! Beautiful in more ways than one! I adore the way she is almost like " mama goose" for so many of ladies here. Always willing to listen and give advice when needed, shares in our Joy and Tears! Angela, I have a great respect for you! I miss you! http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/member.php?u=24465 Dont ever stop being you!!

2 pointsMy Choice for today is Amelia Middleton She's so funny, very intelligent, tres sexy and just loves weird things ...like me! look at those lips...yum!

2 pointsThe second pretty lady I would like to highlight is also a lady I met in my early days in this lifestyle. She is a beauty inside and out. Friendly, fun, funny, dead sexy..... is a Goddess ! Also over the past year and a half or so she has put up with my off the wall random texts and replies with some pretty sharp and witty comebacks.. heh heh. I visit with her every single chance I get when she passes thru my part of the world :) She runs a low profile on Cerb here posting wise....she just goes about her business very successfully I might add......but her ads, her photo's as well as her reputation are very well known I do believe :) She is shorter than me but can be a fiery Frenchie so I definately wouldn't mess with her ..... haha I love spending time with her ! 2 pointsMy CERB Lady of the Day today is Emily Rushton. Emily is beautiful and sexy, intelligent, down to earth and has a sense of humour. Her intelligence comes through in her posts, when she posts she always has something not just to say but to contribute. And she makes an occasional foray into the joke section, she manages to put a smile on my face from afar. I have had the pleasure of seeing her twice for two encounters that weren't just memorable, they were memories too. And most definitely I will see her again. Thank you Emily for the wonderful encounters Here is Emily's Profile http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/member.php?u=22822 And a recommendation, one of many I'm sure http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?ltr=E&t=68254 RG

1 pointThis is mainly for any newbies on CERB who have never heard of Cowboy Kenny's diary before. My advice is always the same, if it sounds to good to be true...it probably is! I was reading on this site and elsewhere, that people have been burned here in Ottawa lately. My advice is to daily check CK's diary, he does very good work for all of us and if you want to protect yourself then read it please! I hate hearing stories of things going badly wrong, especially when it could have easily been avoided. It only takes a couple of minutes to scroll through the daily updates, but it is very much worth it! http://www.cowboysdiary.info/

1 pointI finally met up with Sheila this morning after chatting up with her since her arrival on CERB a week ago today. For those who have had a chance to chat with her, you'll know she is a sweet gal, fun and quick witted. Of course, meeting her, she's all that, laid back and very friendly. I have to say that her pictures do not do her justice - she looks better in person. After some great relaxation in the hot tub, we moved to the table to exchange massages which got us both more relaxed! Sheila is definitely an awesome gal worth spending time with!!

1 pointI read a comment left on an entry that I made earlier today in the Highlights of the Day thread that caused me to think a bit more about our CERB family. CERB - the more that I get involved with it and the more that I read contributions that are made in its forums has many of the characteristics of a family. This does not refer to a 'traditional' family, but also to the dysfunctional family, the family divided, the extended family and probably any other sort of family that one could devise as well. There is certainly a common denominator for all of us that explains our initial presence as a part of this family, but once involved, I see so often how people begin to interact with each other in ways totally apart from that commonality that we all have. These differences are many but I am thinking today of the ability of CERB members to support each other in the same way as families members might do. I have seen so many examples of this in the past year where people who have never met each other, and in all likelihood never will meet each other have gone out of their ways to help another member. I have seen the genuine welcomes made to new members. I have seen the assistance provided to those who are finding their way through this maze called CERB. I have seen the authentic best wishes sent for birthdays and milestones. I have seen people reach out to those who are in trouble, be it those who are fighting an addiction or those who are trying to cope with a death in their circle of friends or family or those who are fighting an illness or other personal trauma. Something as simple as sending a hug when it is deemed necessary, or sending a personal PM or email at just that "right" time can make a difference to someone else. I can see or sense how the determination and ability of individuals members to cope in certain situations can and has inspired others. For myself, CERB has become a family in its own right. There are only a few here who truly know how much they have helped me. In many cases members probably cannot even think that I might be referring to them when I say that or be able to think of what they said or did that impacted me in such a profound way. Sometimes we as individuals do not realize or are never made aware of just how important a little personal gesture can be in making someone feel better or even how that simple gesture might turn a persons life around for the better. Do you recall the young fellow who got that hot air balloon ride, largely due to the CERB members and the initiative of Chanel Reign with her Random Act of Kindness thread. That is something that he shall always remember. The CERB family makes a difference in so many ways. Good on the CERB family.

1 pointWow Sandi, I never expected this or to be mentioned in this thread, it's just not something I come to look for or expect anymore but I will remember and cherish what you have done and said forever. This past month has been a serious cross road for me and my place as a member of the board but your words and kindness has changed what may have been something I would of come to regret. I must thank you. You have no idea what this and your words have done for me and the impact that you have made. Thank you Sandi All My Love, Lexy

1 pointThis is Part 2 of my uncompleted additional comments. My word total was over the limit. Part 1 dealt with the introduced the possibility of incorporating your business. Note I don't work for the CRA. I'm at the other end of the spectrum. You would have to decide whether you pay yourself a salary and if you do you would have to withhold source deductions (CPP and taxes) on the employment income you pay yourself. Whatever you paid yourself would be treated as employment income in your hands and taxed as such. The salary would be deductible to Ecstasy Co. - as would the other expenses it reasonably incurred to generate a profit. You could also forego getting a salary. To meet you personal cash needs, you would pay yourself a dividend instead. Dividends are subject to tax at much lower rates than employment income. Say Ecstasy Co's net income is 100k. Taxes would be 15k, leaving 85k after tax. If, say, you need 50k a year, you would cause Ecstasy Co to pay you a dividend of 50k. If you have no other sources of personal income, the tax on a 50k dividend would be a pittance - the top dividend rate is about 33% and it kicks in on income above 128k. (In fact if your only source of income is 30k of dividends, your tax bill would be close to zero.) Think of Ecstasy Co as your retirement plan; if it earns 100k per year and pays you a dividend of 50k, it keeps 35k on hand to invest. Add up the years and you have a retirement fund. If you go with this approach, you will have no "earned income", thus no contribution room allowing you to contribute to your RRSP. In other words, the accumulated savings in the company would have to replace your RRSP. The other consequence of going strictly with a dividend plan is that no contributions would be made to CPP. You would save both the employer's and the employee's contribution (about 4k). Of course, if you're not paying into the plan you will draw no CPP benefits when you reach that old age when your services will no longer be sought. (Some who are on a dividend plan pay themselves just enough salary to maximize CPP contributions and then pay the balance, if any is required, as a salary.) Keep in mind that the HST rules would apply to Ecstasy Co. - gross income in excess of 30k, you need to register, collect and remit HST. The cost to incorporate a company is about $1,000, at the low end, but not much more. Ecstasy Co would also have to file annual tax returns. The HST return would also be filed annually (depending on the income), although you could do so quarterly or monthly. It's a bit more paperwork, but it's worth it. O

1 pointNice reminder, Samantha. In my case, I will be visiting the cemetary tomorrow to give my regards. I urge those of you who have mothers who have passed to do the same, if you can. After 13 years, there isn't a day that goes by without me thinking of her.

1 pointAlthough Sandi doen't have a strong presence on the general public board, she sure does in our private SP only area. Let me start by telling you that Sandi is hilarious, sharp, witty and oh, so not shy lol Sandi is also a very caring woman with a huge heart! Definitely a lady I love to talk too! Thank you for being part of CERB even though you live all the way at the other end of the country! Cheers to you, sexy seductress from the West!

1 pointFirst and foremost, I do need to compliment Meg on this thread. There can be no doubt without the lovely women of CERB, we guys would be touching ourselves way too much. That being said, it is impossible to select just one woman whose impact has been of paramount importance without feeling that you have disappointed the myriad of women that touched our lives. I am one fortunate guy. I have spent countless hours sharing my life and in many instances, the comfort of my home with the women of CERB. Whether they be hours of intimacy or hours of mutually indulgent social pleasures, I have been blessed - my life has truly been enriched by knowing and spending time with the women I love - the women of CERB. With all of that in mind... I will contribute - countless times - to this thread. Get ready. CERB is a dynamic community. It is driven by a combination of familiar faces and those ranks swell daily with the addition of new and incredibly talented women. People come (I mean in the literal and biblical sense hehehehe) and people go (but you have to pay extra for that!!!)... but the core of this community is driven by women that not only please you in a sensual way but also capture your mind and your heart with the words that they share with us every day. They challenge us, they woo us, they make us laugh and they melt our hearts... but most of all, they force us to understand that behind each of those sexy little icons is an amazing person with an equally amazing and vibrant personality. Today, I will highlight a woman that has yet to be mentioned in this thread but who, in her relatively short time on the board, has made an incredible impact, especially with me. Rainbows socks. Uses words like "Schadenfreude." The incomparable Julie Wilde. Now Julie has only been a member since last October, but her impact has been amazing. Not only is she an absolutely beautiful woman, she has a mind like Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius (hmmmm Jewel E. Wilde... hmmmmmm)... a wit that is as sharp as anything you can imagine and insights that challenge us all to look at things on a different plane. Ooooooh yeah. She is built like Venus. Except she has arms. Real arms, not stone arms. Real human arms. She has hands too. Real human hands, arms ... and fingers. Okay... bad example. She is an incredibly beautiful woman. Whew. http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/member.php?u=57263 http://juliewilde.escort-site.com/

1 pointLexy, you have such a way of putting things in a way that is very sweet and respectful, and yet very clear and to the point. I have to concur with Lexy's sentiments. I'm newish here, but as a hobbiest, discretion and privacy are paramount. By all accounts, Taloon is a great guy, but there is really no way of knowing. Just as I am fairly new with not much track record, I would expect everyone to be a little tentative if I were organizing the event. I'm not really into the social thing, but perhaps another hobbiest or an sp would like to give this poor guy a hand in organizing it. Again, no disrespect to Taloon, as he might be thinking that "no good deed shall go unpunished" at this point.

1 pointMy Goddess of the day is VJ! There is much to be said about Victoria, much more than I will express in this post but here it goes; she is a laid back and down to earth lady with an awesome positive attitude and a great smile. Her impressive beauty is also comparable to her entrepreneurship and business skills. Victoria, ne change jamais... Je t'adore comme tu es! xox
-
1 pointThe lovely and beautiful Sophia Varoushka ... her posts always leave me grinning from ear to ear. She brings so much joy and positivity to this community. And her albums are so creative and sexy. She is a Naughty Alice that I would love to follow down the rabbit hole. http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/member.php?u=38592 Julianna ... Julianna is a relatively new member of our community. She is smart, sexy, and is already making a great contribution here. Her pictures really show what a strong woman she is, and how incredibly hot! I love spending time with her, and she is such a welcome presence in the local Newfoundland scene. http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/member.php?u=63561

1 pointThis is a difficult thing, to choose only one above them all. Some of the ladies I know well, others I only know through CERB but I feel as if I have known them forever. I have met Angela and enjoy her sharp wit and quick laughter. Victoria Jolie is my Muse and her visits are always too short and too far apart. Emily Rushton's sparkle I see every day and smile. In Samantha Evans words, I find a kindred essence that I long to meet in person. Peachy, whose unfaltering commitment to her clients could possible rival my own and the unforgettable Lonna Lux who long ago captured my spirit and has yet to set it free. But if I had to choose only one CERB goddess today it would be Luxie. She is a young woman that is forever amazing me with her brilliance of spirit and inner soul. She fell onto my couch last July in shocking painted cat eyes and pair of red suede booties. I have watched a metamorphosis over the last year that renews my soul and faith in humanity on a daily basis. She is a truly remarkable human being and I admire her. All of her... With humble heart for the privilege of being part of these amazing women, cat
-
1 pointI love the women here. So many different backgrounds, experiences, points of view, and so many, many kinds of beauty in every way. It's an honour and a privilege to be among them. For today, I nominate Cat. She's playful, sensual, smart as can be and deeply wise--all of that, wrapped around a heart of pure gold. Cat is the epitome of what I want to be. And she's utterly gorgeous, too! Great curves, a hint of mischief in that smile, and somehow I'm certain that the eyes behind the shades are sparkling bright.
-
1 pointKeep it real; relationships with sp's begin and end at the doorway to her home/hotel etc. XO

1 pointWell, you seem to have already worked out where to advertize, and how the shoutbox works, so that's a good start :) Read the FAQ if you haven't already. Other than that, all I can say is make sure the people who come to see you go away happy, and hopefully a reco or two will happen as a result (although I suspect most people don't write them, alas). If you really want to raise your profile, get involved with the rest of the board and join in the various conversations that are happening at any given time... there's usually something for most people, be it serious or silly, and if not you can always start something new. Also, have a play with the search pages to find previous threads on things you might want to know about Given where you work, hopefully you have access to some other ladies who can give you a good start in the industry as a whole... and I've always been amazed by how helpful and supportive people here are to each other, so don't be afraid to ask about stuff.
-
1 pointKind of bummed that Patrick Stewart isn't making an appearance anymore, but super excited to see Q! And holy YES JAYNE COBB. And when did they add Jamie Bamber?! I am super super excited for Comic Con, can you tell? :D I met Marina Sirtis at a Star Trek convention back before high school. Geek card. Oh yeah.
-
1 pointGreetings my fellow CERBites.... First and foremost, I must reiterate that this is an apology. I have not been on much if at all for the last two or three months and the halt in OD postings was rather precipitous. None of you caused me to stop posting... let's make that clear. The last few months in OTown have been a wee bit tense. For those of us in the public sector, the possibility/probability of imminent unemployment has weighed heavily on the emotional, the psychological and the physical well being that all of us cherish. It's hard to play when you have no pay. That being said, I did survive only marginally scathed... if scathed is a word, I mean if unscathed is a word then dammit scathed has to be a word too. I digress. I have a job and it's the same one... it's a little leaner and going to be a lot tougher to manage with less people around me, but I am here and employed. Whew. It has been heartwarming to see the messages that have popped up on the page and in my inbox in the past few months.... despite the self imposed exile I have really missed so many of you. I am lucky in so many ways to have a circle of friends on here that have kept me connected during the period of absence... and I am excited to see that some of the fresh faces here have been embraced by the multitudes. Soooo... where does that leave us? I am easing my way back in. Rest assured boobies, bums and vajayjays still occupy the greater part of my brain. They swirl about... sometimes they subtly brush against each other causing wee mind moans... oh damn. Thank goodness for kleenex. Anyhow. I. AM. BACK. Let's get durtee. OD.

1 pointIt has been suggested that a small force take over a Walmart or a Costco. Barricade the doors. Plenty of food. Lots of cool things to use for weapons. There's usually a Mickey D's. Use the excess soil and seeds at the garden centre to create a rooftop garden. I think we would need a variety of weapons. Things that go boom for crowd dispersal, sharp things for zombie singles. As for the crowd? We would need plumbers, lumberjacks, medical personnel, SPs, soldiers, farmers, and geeky kids that spend their time playing World of Warcraft. Avoid Parliament Hill. I do think that the Senate may be populated by Zombies (the slow moving kind.)
-
1 pointIt is not very nice to put the blame on these poor women. Many older women are beautiful. If the owners are the one who imports and move the women around from place to place...etc...At this point, I don't see why they would let the girls decide if they want a real picture or fake one to be in their ads. As other said, it gives all legit sex workers a bad name, and tarnish a legit industry. Saying that they don't look good and they are really old won't help. As a matter of fact it's just plain mean.
-
1 pointThat's what I like from Cerb, because they don't allow some agencies or other ladies to have multiple accounts and to post bad comments (bogus/fake reviews) about other ladies in the business. Also recently I read that Cerb don't allow agencies/ladies to advertise via private messaging (it must be annoying for clients) and they don't allow the agencies to contact or try to recruit the independent ladies via PM. I didn't know. I knew they care about the ladies, but I didn't know they were ready to go that far to protect them and the community. With all the things going on, I guess it can only be a good thing for anyone with good intentions. http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=19815 http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=16212 http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=32457&highlight=shill http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=13477&highlight=shill http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=39166&highlight=shill+asian

1 pointStatus on our Constitutional Challenge for Decriminalization From: Sex Professionals of Canada Re: Ontario Superior Court decision Tuesday, September 28, 2010 Sex Professionals of Canada is delighted by Justice Susan Himel?s decision to acknowledge our right to legally practice our chosen profession. This important victory gives us hope that sex work will one day be fully regarded as the legitimate occupation it is. The invalidation of Section 210 of the Criminal Code, which prohibits bawdy houses, will mean that we can ensure our safety by working together indoors. We can now report abuses of anyone in our occupation to the appropriate authorities, without fear of arrest. Ontario sex workers will no longer be vulnerable to eviction or arrest on our business premises. The invalidation of Section 212 (1j) of the Criminal Code, that prohibits living wholly or in part on the avails of prostitution was developed to protect us from ?organized crimes?. In practice, it makes us and our live-in partners, and even elderly parents we support, susceptible to being charged, and serving up to ten years in jail. The invalidation of Section 212 (1j), will allow our families to finally stop fearing arrest. Our employees, such as receptionists, drivers, etc. will no longer fear criminal prosecution. Section 212 (1j) has stigmatized and punished us and denied that our work is a form of gainful employment for too long. The invalidation of Section 213 (1c) of the Criminal Code prohibited ?communication for the purposes of prostitution?, that means soliciting clients in any public place, including the use of cell phones, the Internet, hotel lobbies, bars, and even rooms with an open door or window. We are liable to being arrested for stopping or even attempting in any manner to stop a person or motor vehicle. Subject to the communication law, we are forced to limit our negotiating time with clients, preventing us from having enough time to determine if the client is trustworthy or potentially dangerous. All over Canada, sex workers are calling for an end to criminalization. We have developed workable plans to increase the safety of ALL community members. Our plans are detailed and could be developed to fit communities from coast to coast. We believe in having a process in place to combat youth exploitation and human trafficking, specialized policing services, sex consumer education, municipal bylaw revisions and a system of professional accreditation to ensure all workers are given access to resources and help should we need it. The tools to make safe decisions about our occupation will help combat exploitation in the sex industry, while respecting the choices of adult sex workers. Inclusion is key. Consensual adult sex workers must be included in decisions that will affect our occupation. Business owners and residents must be heard also. The only way this will truly work is if all people?s concerns and experiences are respected. Our opposition?s strategy is to eliminate prostitution, including all consensual adult prostitution. This is unrealistic and unworkable. We do not wish to be further criminalized and driven underground by anti-sex work policies. Under the guise of saving youth and trafficking victims, our opposition is willing to compromise the human rights of thousands of adult consensual sex workers. Compromising the rights of one group to ?save? another is prohibited by the International Declaration of Human Rights, which explicitly states that no part of the declaration may be used to justify the removal of an individual?s rights and SPOC questions the motives of any person willing to harm a woman to save a woman. It is time to put the voices of sex workers at the forefront. It is time to move away from punishment, toward protection. We do not need to inherit other nations? mistakes. We will be working diligently to develop a Canadian model. We would like to thank Justice Susan Himel, the legal team, all our witnesses, Alan Young , Ron Marzel, and Stacey Nichols. We would also like to thank Terri Jean Bedford, Amy Lebovitch, Valerie Scott and all the fine sex workers in Canada who have been working towards this victory. We will be keeping you posted as more information comes in. Sex Professionals of Canada (SPOC) With special thanks to the British Columbia Coalition of Experiential Communities. (BCCEC) We are available for interviews regarding our current constitutional challenge to the Canadian Criminal Code (CCC) sections, 210 (bawdy house), 212(1)(j) (living on the avails) and 213(1)© (communicating for the purpose of prostitution) We are happy to provide you with: The reasons why we are challenging the above laws. How these laws have affected sex workers. How these sections of the CCC have directly resulted in the robberies, beatings, rapes and murders of some of our colleagues. Analysis of this challenge. Mission & Principles: 1. SPOC operates on the principle that all forms of consensual adult sex work are legitimate and valid. We provide a public voice that promotes the validity of our occupation. 2. We assert that one?s decision to be a sex worker is equally and unequivocally as valid of a choice as is the decision to be in any other legal occupation. 3. We maintain that sex workers deserve genuine labour rights, with industry-wide standards defined by sex workers themselves. 4. Our members, supporting members and our allies oppose those who seek to rescue sex workers via court imposed or otherwise forced or coerced re-education/exit programs, jails or camps. 5. SPOC does not affiliate itself with any political party. If an individual politician truly and publicly endorses the above four principles, SPOC will consider supporting that particular politician, but not the party as a whole. 6. We are not a social service organization. 7. We respect the privacy of all members, and no SPOC member may disclose any ?personal? or ?professional? information about any other member without expressed {written} consent from that particular member. 8. We are a volunteer run, social and political group. Goals: We stand for the decriminalization of all forms of sex work in Canada. We oppose legalization because it is always exploitive toward sex workers. Decrease the isolation experienced by many sex workers by organizing sex worker-friendly social events and functions. Publishing a bad date list so that our colleagues can communicate information about violent and dangerous clients with each other. Media and Public Awareness: SPOC members are available for interviews with media and students. We are also available to speak at universities, colleges and conferences. Click here to contact us. Membership: If you are a current or former sex worker, or an ally interested working toward the decriminalization of sex work while having fun and connecting with others, please do not hesitate to contact us. We encourage membership from all communities, sexual orientations and genders. Donations: As an entirely volunteer run organization, we rely on the generous support of our community and supporters. SPOC gratefully accepts donations to assist us in our work. Donations can be made via Pay Pal by clicking the button below or by cheque/money order payable to: Sex Professionals of Canada. P.O.
