I am back home again after a really good trip to Halifax, with the social/Meet and Greet being the highlight. The goal for the evening was to make it a comfortable get together for all those who could attend, and that goal I believe was met. Yes perhaps we were cautious or maybe overcautious but we felt it important to have this first event be successful and therefore we did keep it small and it was attended by members who have pretty well established reputations. WIT covered the reasons for this in his post already. So lets focus on the fact that this was good and everyone had a good time. I left my wheelchair and crutches in my car and depended on good company and a few drinks to keep me up and mobile, and I had both of those, so I did more than OK. I even got a few dances in on the dance floor. It was pretty cool to meet people face to face whose posts you have read and find that in some cases they were exactly as expected or envisioned and how in other cases they were different from what I expected. I'm not saying who fit into each category, but that was a really fun part of it. Now I am ready to see who will be organizing the next Ottawa social - I will be there! After this one maybe there would be a big Maritime contingent along with me. :) To all those who were able to be there a big thank you for making the evening the success that it was. A special thanks to all those who brought door prizes, and also to Carrie Moon who sent along a number of things. They were very much appreciated! Until our next Meet and Greet.................

I just have to echo the sentiment that we a great time and got a chance to meet the faceless members that we hear from everyday on the board. Kudos to Mr Nice and Katherine for the work they put into the event. I was a little bit sad that Taloon didn't make an appearance. To be noted, there were people representing five different provinces who attended. Now it's up to some of the other local members to roll up their sleeves and organize a follow up event. It's the start of something, so hopefully it's not allowed to wither on the vine.

I apologize for not being in attendance at the Halifax CERB Social. Work and play have been on hold as of late due to the death of someone very close to me. My lover and Dominant of 7+ years died last week of a massive heart blockage and I've been beyond devastated. I had to travel out-of-province to attend the visitations and funeral service. However, I have returned and will be getting back to work, play, and correspondence in the near future. I hope you all had a wonderful time together.

Oh wow! When I get home and get some sleep under my belt I will write a bit more, but for the moment, oh wow. I am quite certain that every single person was comfortable with how it went and I hope that this was only the first of the Meet and Greets that will be held in the Maritimes. I met some really fun people last night, so to all who attended thank you. I DO need some rest though. For me, 1:30 in the morning is WAY past my bedtime and trying to keep up to Sophia and Katherine on the dance floor is no easy task. Yes, Halifax rocks. :)

I have mixed feelings about this. In principle I'm all for letting people make their own mistakes and learn the hard way if they can't learn the easy way... but it's perhaps sensible for government to step in and protect people from the worst excesses of their own folly. Similarly, yes, the market will stop banks making stupid loans to clearly irresponsible people anyway... but the market's way of correcting things is frequently swift and bloody, and I'm not sure that most of us would be terribly keen on having the entire economy suddenly tank. Again. Some time, certainly. But they'd end up paying less interest as a result, so who's to say they're worse off at the end of the day? Depends on interest rates, obviously... but I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. Also, I have a horrible feeling that the generation that will be most impacted by this really needs to learn that sometimes you can't have everything you want, right now. But that flies in the face of not letting the government dictate to you what you do with your money, hence my conflict on this. In Ottawa: not much, I suspect, compared to the effect of the federal government eliminating 17000 positions, or whatever it is. You can't legislate a decrease in interest rates on unsecured debt. If the govt were to try, the lenders would either simply stop lending to all but the most credit-worthy consumers, or demand collateral (or both). Neither would be pretty. Bear in mind that *nobody* has to pay usurious credit-card interest rates; a credit card is a useful and convenient tool, but carrying a balance is simply foolish. If you need to borrow money there are much better options available. But that comes back to the woeful lack of financial education...

SP's are as different as Hobbiests. Some prefer variety, some prefer regulars. Both are fine. At first glance, theDDD part seems like advertising your cup size since a few SPs do exactly that. Of course it could also mean you are a fan of Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, but men won't assume that! LOL. As for the guy asking to share an SP, (seriously dude?) I share Angela's opinion, as it comes from first hand experience. Lol, wanna bet? If you followed one of us just one day in our lives, rest assured, you would see things very differently! You are a respectful guy, sadly not all are. You would be stunned at the amount of men who come to an escort board, looking to hire on as our photographer, driver, security, incall, be our boyfriend, all of which is code for " it'll be free then right? " And of course the one used so often I weep for the future is " I'm really hot, do I still have to pay? " No exaggeration. Jenn, you have no idea. Advertising, whether online or in print, is perfectly legal. There have been judicial rulings in the 1980s that said that advertising is private communication because readers are never forced to read ads. The only way to work legally is to go to the client's location for the call. That said, this is also one of the least safe ways to work, too. If you decide to do outcalls only, please, please, please make sure you have a driver and that the driver knows where you're going and what time you'll be ready to leave. Call the driver when you enter the house or hotel room and call again at an agreed-upon time. For example, if your meeting with the client will last an hour, make sure you call the driver when the hour is over, no matter what. If the driver doesn't hear from you, you should have a plan about what they are to do. If you don't have a driver now, contact other ladies where you are and get some recommendations. Don't hire someone who's just decided that this is a cool and sexy way to make a bit of money now that there's even less risk of prosecution than there was before recent the Ontario Court of Appeal decision. You want someone who is experienced and has been proven reliable. I never go to clients' homes except in very rare cases where I have known the client for quite some time. Even then, I once ran into a problem that I was able to manage easily enough but which would not have happened at my place. The difficulty with hotel rooms and clients' homes is that you have no idea who is on the other side of the door when it opens to admit you. If you go to a hotel, make sure you check out the room thoroughly, looking in the bathroom, including the shower, and the closets. If there's a door that adjoins another room, make sure that it's locked on your side so that no one can enter from the room next door. In a client's home, the problem is that you don't necessarily know where all the exits are. It's harder to know who is in the place and you have no control over whether someone else may arrive while you're there. I can appreciate your reluctance to work from your own apartment but, frankly, this is safer than going to someone else's location. It's not legal, but unless you see a high volume of clients, entertain late at night or cause unusual noise, you're not likely to have a problem. It's critically important that the companion be in control of the encounter at all times, every time she meets with anyone, wherever the meeting takes place. That's much easier when you're in your own place and much more difficult when you're in the client's home. Despite these warnings, it's true that many women work successfully doing outcalls. It might be a good idea to connect with some others and find out about their safety strategies. Over time we all think of things that never occurred to us when we started out. Always remember: nothing, absolutely nothing, ever, including any amount of money, is more important that your personal safety, so don't compromise!

Wow !!! A word I've seldom used when talking about any previous encounters I have had over my many years of being a "hobbiest" . thanks cat. this post has lifted my spirits a little more. the site has grown so large that I really can't do it on my own and I have been pushing myself this last year to a breaking point. people are constantly complaining and everyone seams to feel they need to tell me how to do things. most people do not consider that they are just one person demanding my time with frivolous complaints, whining and my favorite... redundant bitching (when they just repeat themselves over and over than get pissed off when I tell them where to go or remove them) with the site growing so large we have 10 times more spammers (you rarely see these as I remove them before you ever see them... only a few get by recentlybecause some exploit exists that has not been patched yet that allows the spammers to circumvent the moderation queue) .. I would estimate 300+ spam posts are removed each month. title infractions.... we don't want the site to lookk like cl with all the crazy post titles trying to out do the next one and gain the most attention... so i have very specific rules to stop this and i use to take the time to pm each person and tell them what they did wrong... i found that even when i took the time people would ignore the pm and continue to break the rules so now i just delete the post and give them a infraction with a link to the rules.. I get people every day wasting my time asking me to elaborate on what they did wrong... did they read the link with the rules??? NO... They are just wasting my time. about 300 posts a month break this rule and more than 1/2 of them break the rule over and over again. This is disrespectful and these people do not deserve to use the site so I just keep deleting the ad posts and eventually just remove them. if they are literate enough to post an ad they can dam well read the rules or they are not welcome here. when I suspend someone (especially a SP or a male member with 50+ posts) i get people PM me (who only hear one side of the story) demanding I let them back or telling me I was wrong or calling me a dictator. These people run to the other sites and tell everyone how horrible I am (and really that did not bother me in the past but now its getting a little annoying).. FINALLY... we have those idiots who post shit like "I am affraid to post on cerb because I will get in trouble" or "I know the rule is... hopefully the mod does not remove me" or the really big idiots who want to fight with me on the site and don't think I have the balls to kick them off!! Yes, it wears on me!! Yes, I am done with it and yes I would not wish this job on anyone. Cat probably meant to post this in the PRIVATE area away from public view but we can let everyone know. I am done and I am working on a way to keep the site moving forward. We are looking for a way to have the community help moderate the site (Myself, the SP's who have SP ONLY access and the ELITE members have a private discussion thread where we are trying to come up with a solution that will keep the site moving forward and keep the integrity of the site alive. I have confidence in our members (Most of them) and I think a few should be removed who are trouble makers but I will leave that up to the people who will take my place as the decision makers. This is not open for public debate but if you are an elite member or a SP ONLY member you are welcome to comment in the private area and have your say. We would love to hear any idea's. If you are not able to see that area please DO NOT pm me. My PM is very busy and full with all this. I am willing to help the transition go forward smoothly (I am not walking away tomorrow or anything) I will continue forward and make sure the site is in good hands before I move on. I will probably always be part of the site in some sort of way (System admin, Server Admin, Software upgrades, etc... after all I am a computer guy and not a politian).
