On December 6th, 1989 the events of the Ecole Polytechnique massacre in Montreal unfolded. It is indeed ironic and sad that on the 25th anniversary of the day that women were killed for choosing a career in engineering that the Canadian government is bringing Bill C-36 into law. It has not gone unnoticed by me that at least some sex workers have dubbed this law as the Pickton Model- a model that will be setting some women up for violence. I have been pretty well absent from Cerb for the last six weeks due primarily to illness as I hardly felt up to even looking in. Now that I am able to do so, and following a six week hiatus, it is quite noticeable to me the change in tone regarding this law and its potential impact. As is probably quite understandable the discussion has become very much on a personal note, where individuals are looking primarily at themselves and no longer at the overall picture. Despite everything that I wrote several months ago, where I was undoubtedly looked at as one of the paranoid and as a naysayer, I do tend to agree that most of us here with exercise of due caution and care are probably not going to be impacted too much. I do however have WAY less trust in police and law enforcement than what seems to be the consensus. I began this post with the Ecole Polytechnique paragraph because what I have found that has totally disappeared from this discussion thread in the past six weeks are concerns for the women and other sex workers who work the streets and those who are forced by their individual dire circumstances to take chances and who are probably not working this trade as their first choice of employment. If and when this law is challenged in the Supreme Court it will probably only be after a long period of time during which many of these women will be abused, injured and killed. It will be those statistics and that data that will overturn this law. Yes, reality for each of us on an individual personal level has kicked in, as it should, but let us not forget the many who are not as fortunate as we may be. Financial donations and support to groups such as POWER, PIVOT, Maggies and others will be critical in helping to protect all sex workers and to assist in a challenge that will ultimately happen well down the road. On MY personal level and very luckily for me, I LOVE and adore cuddling and social interaction. As always this is just my own unique view on whats going on, be it right or wrong.

IMLO, LE has no legal right to enter the premises of an MA's private location. It is private property and they would need to have a search warrant issued by a Superior Court Judge to enter on site, and even then LE is not allowed to enter by force. They typically wait for the owner of the property to arrive. This idea of busting down doors is only on tv. Neither the MA nor the gentleman would agree to open the door while someone is knocking during a session. So, just finish the session and then leave. Even if LE intercepts the gentleman or the MA on their way out, LE will have no evidence that any illegal activity has taken place. By the way, if you are ever intercepted you have no obligation to speak to the police other than to identify yourself. Just don't say a word and walk away. If they try to stop you, just ask if you're under arrest. If the answer is no, you are legally allowed to just walk away and not say a word. And with regards to spa's, this is one of the reasons I like CMJ Ottawa so much (and also because of Melodie and friends :icon_biggrin:). It's a private member's club, so it's not a public place. Their front door is locked at all times and members have to buzz in on camera and identify themselves as a member with an appointment to get in. Either way, private locations are the way to go... and nothing illegal ever goes on there.. Have fun!

I am not a big App user and pretty well confine myself to those that I think I will find useful. Two that I use a great deal are Songza and Tunein Radio. Both require internet access so unless you're around wifi they may cost a bundle for the data. Songza is simply a huge compilation of music playlists that is organized into themes and genres. No fee. Tunein Radio is exactly that. Virtually any radio station anywhere and it also includes commercial free music stations that again can be searched by theme or genre. No fee. Since I have wifi at home and a great sounding bluetooth wireless speaker, both of these apps get a great deal of use from me.

Oh I am so glad that there are still a few of us left that love Christmas! I know that for me it has little to do with a religious celebration but rather it is a feeling that I somehow find impossible to define. I realize how fortunate I am to have family and extended family who are all amazing people. It is a time when people try their best to get together. My kids are spread across the country and there are few occasions that bring us all together. Christmas brings traditions and it is the traditions that I truly enjoy. If one thinks of it, everything in our world changes so incredibly fast, and this a time when what was good fifty years ago remains good today. It is great fun trying to break a son-in-law into our families traditions. I am sure he believes that we are all nuts. :) There are the individual little ornaments and decorations that get brought out and many of them carry beautiful memories. My artificial tree is already up in the kitchen but when the kids get home we will be out in the woods seeking that perfect tree. I can hardly wait to watch Elf and I may just cheat and watch it once beforehand. So, I guess I'd have to be in the, "Love it," category.

I remember reading a thread a long time ago where it was mentioned that the spas often had a camera or two on the front door, but nothing in the rooms - this is so that they have a record of who's visited if anyone tries anything really nasty. This strikes me as being a sensible precaution. One other thing on spas: for me, they're very good for those situations when I'm thinking, "Well, I'll go if I have time." Under circumstances like that you can't book much in advance with anyone (making a habit of cancelling will tend to give you a bad reputation), but you can see who's on schedule at the spas and then call them when you know you're free and see if the MA you'd like to see happens to be available.

The Harbour Front Marriot Hotel is great for those local executive class business men who don't want to park their vehicle out in the open at a parking meter in front of a hotel they have no business being at. A hotel that they now have to walk from their vehicle, across a street and a parking lot to access and risk running into people they know who work down town who will probably be curious as to what your doing walking into a hotel... I take a quick turn into the Harbour front marriot parkade, park and walk right into the elevator. Other hotels have underground parking but spots are very difficult to get. Plus if you like to be pampered...Cascades spa is on the main level.

Due to a cancellation, we now have a VIP ticket available either for sale to a member without a ticket or if someone that bought a regular ticket wishes to upgrade to VIP its only an extra 15 dollars for a limo ride from and back to dtown area! I would like to remind everyone that mistert and I do not take even a penny as profit for this nor have we done so since we been organising the socials starting back in Sep 2013. As a matter of fact, those that have met me in person to pay cash, know that I drive a truck which is not cheap on gas. With the number of trips I have to take I easily burn a tank of gas which comes out of my own pockets. Mistert also spends money as well. Therefore due to the fact we make zero profit from the socials, everyone has to understand that once we committed money towards the event we can not give it back to ppl cancelling at the last minute unless we take it out of our own pockets. To date we have paid for the limo and the entertainment. Deadline for tickets is tomorrow as we will have to confirm and pay for the food then. Next time someone can't seem to understand when we say sorry no refund, think about how you would feel if you were on the receiving end of the complaint and you had spent close to 100 dollars of your own pocket to organise an event to try and get community members together!!!
