There are processes that take place during sleep that you will be missing. Like a renewal of a hormone (?) that controls your appetite. (starts with an 'L') You miss out on that renewal too much and you can find yourself getting fat.

I have always thought that "open minded" meant non-judgmental. So, you could be open in asking about something a little off the conventional, "vanilla" sexual map.
