  1. Nixon (i don't have a link but i figure most will know what's up. ) There is a lot of corruption in US politics, it is pretty near impossible for anyone who came up thru election process (senate, congress, govenor, state reps, etc) to not have to compromise morals, ethics or laws at some point. To expect that they would be investigated or charged is probably a pipe dream, they all feed off each other, and protect each other, regardless of the issue. and in the past it was probably worse because the press protected govt officials as well, and the police were paid off to protect them, so the general public simply doesn't know about anything. Doesn't mean they didn't do anything, there are probably more honest ones now that information is so easily accessible compared to even Clinton era, and you see what happened to him.
  2. I completely agree with this. Another obvious red flag is the 'she just laid there' and/or 'she doesn't seem interested' or 'she said no the the services that she agreed to on the phone (or text)'. Clue in, she said no in person because you weren't talking or texting her, it was someone else, getting you to the door. She isn't 'into it' because she actually is being forced to be there, she isn't just lazy or a scammer. She doesn't know what she's doing, also, cuz she is actually 14 years old. seriously, it isn't that hard. And THEN you REPORT her ad/phone # to LE. And they can follow thru. The phone app is there also because there is a myth that all sex work is sex trafficking, all sps are victims, all being forced and exploited. The app is not necessarily a good thing, and it will be used against the US sps by L E to go and find and arrest them, first and foremost. After that, maybe a couple of underage unwilling (they will find underage willing independent ones of course) might possibly be collected with the hundreds and thousands of adult and willing sex workers. Because they don't actually do the hard stuff, then they will report about how many victims they saved, when in fact it is victims of L E harassment and they were all arrested and charged, not saved from anything. Numbers games.
  3. Well said. Many sps use both, or all and any advertising option. For us this is work, and we are going to try to keep busy, which means posting ads. We have more room to create a presence here, and the opportunity to post general comments, which is great. but depending on where you are, either it is busier, just as busy, or not even close to as busy as bp. bp also gives the illusion of more choice, more quantity, more options. The reality is there aren't 'more' sps, there are just more ads by the same finite number of sps. There are career clickers, the guys who simply sit there, hit refresh, click on ad after ad after ad looking for the sp unicorn. after time, any sp who has more than one ad up in a day, will tell you they are getting calls from this same guy a couple times a day. never sees anyone, just calls all the ads, until he's calling the same people again and again. Illusion of quantity, illusion of choice. And for some guys, they can't seem to just choose the one that is the best option when they find her, they still think there is someone better out there. i.e. sp unicorn.
  4. yes, for sure. Or join a sex worker activist group (like maggies, POWER, spoc), sign a petition or two. I think kwetoday.com (if i have the site right) has a new site more focused on this exact issue. The previous Liberal govts have in the past started a decrim process, then lost the next election so they never followed thru (apparently). Let's not let them drag their feet on this opportunity by waiting too long to do the right thing
  5. i don't think sled dogs are house pets. From what i remember, they are raised and trained differently, plus anyone who has them has a bunch of them, so more unlikely to be cuddled up by the fire or sleeping on the bed. I don't really care what happy home someone puts their big dogs in, what kind of enclosure, how secure the chain, how cuddly they are with the babies: put a muzzle on them before opening the door, or going for walkies, or taking to the off leash park, and no one will be confiscating or putting them down or shooting them, because they will not be able to kill or hurt anyone. If a big dog owner cares about their pets, they need to ensure that pet is not going to go off the rails, or if it does, that no one can fault them for not doing everything in their power to reduce the chance of it hurting someone. We don't let our dogs run out onto the street into incoming traffic either, if we care about them. If you care about your big dogs, you are going to make sure that no one can come for them, and that means doing what you have to when they have even the slightest chance to get out in public. I also am not that swayed by the number of fatalities, when we know that not everyone is going to die from a dog attack, but they can be very seriously injured. I also think that people who drive when they have been drinking should be in enclosures, leashed and/or muzzled, anything necessary to keep them from getting behind the wheel, and on the road.
  6. This happened a year ago, still has effects today. plus new operations http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/migrant-sex-workers-caught-up-in-ottawa-sting-facing-deportation-further-exploitation-activists
  7. i wish it was different as well. The fact that sps can post ads for free, and participate in discussion forums should be a no brainer to maintain a presence. Where the sps post, and participate, clients usually follow. but the dilemma is if the clients are not already here then the sps don't stay, and around it goes again.
  8. i think the main thing isn't what is the rate being charged, as much as it is just pay the rate any sp is asking, rather than trying to haggle it down. Yes some sps charge 100/hr, while others have a $1000/2hr minimum, regardless of which one contacted, clients should never think that rate is an opening bid for negotiation. especially since so many of the hagglers have no idea what a negotiation is. It means both sides give something up. In the sp case, she is expected to give up a portion of her fee. In the client case, he expects to get all the time and services included in her requested rate? not how a proper compromise works. If you are a negotiator, remember, you need to compromise the difference between what she offers for that rate, what you wanted to pay, along with what you are going to give up in exchange for the reduced rate. otherwise all you are is cheap . . Regardless of who you see, if you enjoy their company, and your budget allows for it, tip them well, and keep going back. You know their rate is below others, and that they could or should be charging more, and you know that you can afford more, so why not? you might be that guy who has them thinking, well maybe i should be charging an extra 20, why not?
  9. Not sure if this is a good place to put this, but there is a book put out by the head of the Prostitution Unit in Sweden. Keep in mind the 'nordic model' was invented there, and been enforced there for over 15 years, so the police have had some experience in investigation and charging the offense of 'sex buying'. What Sweden does not do is stings. Why not? Because solicitation, public or private, i.e. communication is not criminalized. Only the act of paying for services. Check out how they determine whether to charge someone or not: https://feministire.com/2016/05/29/so-you-dont-want-to-take-amnestys-word-for-it-okay/ I am guessing the Canadian cops & lawmakers are not going to risk going this far into investigations oh, and kwetoday did a great report (scholarly type) https://kwetoday.com/2016/06/01/the-reports-are-clear-the-nordicmodel-neither-ends-commercial-sex-work-nor-ends-exploitation/
  10. those are two questions: first, yes, when it comes to street based work, they are running stings. for indoor workers, then no. The exception on that is if you were to continue communication with and making an appt with and showing up to appt with someone who is telling you they are under 18. there have been stings and charges with that.
  11. Vancouver has a no sting no enforcement policy, that comes from police and city hall. They will investigate trafficking and underage reports obviously tho. Winnipeg seems to be the absolute worst, along with St. Johns, NFLD maybe? but Winnipeg for sure. i am not sure what they are doing with the adult licensing in Saskatchewan, whichever city it is dancers and visitors may be having issues, but at least those are 'pay the fee' issues, versus total shutdowns like Winnipeg.
  12. i'm just glad someone has finally taken this to court, from a client perspective. not sure if it will work out, but if it does, imagine the precedent :)
  13. I don't think legality will determine if you enjoy yourself or not. :)
  14. You are ignoring the 'communicates for the purpose of' part. This means that only talking about it is indeed a crime, provided what you are talking about is a specific dollar amount for a specific sexual service. That is why many ads and many sps only give you information about a specific amount for a specific amount of time. side note, they are using 'consideration' not 'money' because they want to also make things like trading services, trading goods or trading accomodation also part of being a crime.
  15. I go to Waves. One person to order & pay, they enter the order with my name, order is read on another computer by the machine, order made by person #2 who calls out my name when it is done. No one is walking about either, getting in between me and my latte.
  16. There is a lot of info about how Norway has been policing sex work under the Nordic Model Recently the head of the Prostitution Unit in Sweden wrote a book about how they were 'policing' sex work in Sweden. It is in Swedish, but this has some translated highlights of what he has shown they've been doing. (and he is as proud of it as the anti sex work people are of the c36 nordic model ) https://feministire.com/2016/05/29/so-you-dont-want-to-take-amnestys-word-for-it-okay/ One wonders what the pro c36 folks expect the police to do in order to investigate clients in order to charge them.....
  17. Has it occurred to you that someone is lying about these sps who you claim to 'know' are TG, even tho they have not disclosed it, and in fact deny it? There was an sp a few years ago who was falsely accused of being TG, online, who successfully sued for damages to her reputation for the libelous comments. You might want to keep that in mind if you intend to pursue this angle, because i have no doubt that multiple people are clamouring by pm to find out who this (according to your 3rd party accusations) 'devious' sp really is ? For those who suggest it would be a good idea for someone who is fully transitioned to advertise as TG, have you read the news these days? Several US states are enacting laws to prevent trans people from entering bathrooms that are not desigated their gender of birth. That means, according to law, someone like Kaitlyn Jenner, as many of you have seen what she looks like, would be required by LAW to enter (dressed as she usually is) a mens room. How is that, or putting it in the ad, not an invitation for serious assault and/or death? Over 40 trans women who work as sps in the US have been murdered so far this year. But you want someone to put it in their ads even tho they are actually women via transition? It's one thing for a non transistioned transwoman to not disclose it, then client be surprised by the penis, i agree only to that point, that in itself is dangerous, and for their own safety they shouldn't do that as an sp. Additional Comments: And don't get me started on the guy who assumes that because someone was male, and had sex with other men, therefore they 'probably' have HIV because, you know, msm right there are the only people with AIDs and transmitting AIDs, therefore a transgendered woman who has sex with men as a woman, therefore must be transmitting AIDs, cuz, you know 'the gays all have it". but not hetero guys, nope, none of them got it, and none of them are spreading it around, deliberately nope.
  18. I heard mixed reviews, i think mostly from Lux's articles. I think they made assumptions about clients and escorts, but it is probably a better version of both than many other shows so it might be worth viewing. I liked Secret Diary shows (tho the real escort is American, and she moved to the UK to go to school, and ended up being an escort to pay for it, because tuition fees (like here) are higher for foreign students.) she is currently a PhD, and recently published a mystery novel. She's been a columnist in the past in the guardian i think it is. :) I felt like Secret Diary was actually better representation of sps, and clients, and the whole gamut of what many escorts might experience, tho not necessarily the same escort lol. Coming out to a friend, ending up managing an agency, being a sugar baby (and bored to death by it), going to a sex party with a client, seeing a disabled client, and fulfilling fantasies for couples, and so on and so forth. i think my all time favourite series is still Satisfaction, out of Australia, set in a brothel. This way instead of having one sp seeing all the different kinds of compiled clients, there are several sps each with their own background and story. One sp, like in GFE and SD, people dismiss as fiction, but when you see Satisfaction, you see a wider range from the one who ran away from home and starting survival sex work trading for sex, to the divorced and dismissed 40 something woman whose self esteem skyrockets when she starts doing sex work in the brothel, to the independent worker who runs her own show, but also gets appts via the brothel. Brothels being legal there, it is an interesting and far less seedy storylines.
  19. it seems like a strange law to have to prohibit visitors from having the banned breed. Personally i applaud the cities that are banning the breeds, they have a grandfather clause where if the dog is already there, it is ok, but they are stopping new ones from coming in. i know the pro killer breed dog people always have a story about how gentle etc, but the fact is a yappy chihuahua isn't tearing apart babies' faces. and yes it is always the owners fault, but these are people who want to 'prove' they are alpha to killer dogs, so they do not train them to be sociable and they do take them places off leash and unmuzzled, so they can prove to everyone that they are more powerful than this breed of dog. And the fact is, they are not, and people suffer, and little dogs suffer because of their arrogance. I have zero issue with the killer breeds in any city as long as they are always leashed and muzzled. an unleashed muzzled dog can't do as much damage as an unleashed unmuzzled one, that's the fact of it.
  20. We definitely shared some laughs, here and elsewhere. Cheers to that, and cheers to you. :)
  21. If you haven't done so yet, drive up island. Go to Long Beach, Tofino, Ucluelet. See some whales, check out that big park there. http://www.longbeachmaps.com Further north, you'll be able to stop for fresh (i mean right out of the water) oysters around Fanny Bay, then in the Comox Valley could probably go up to Forbidden Plateau area and check out the glacier there? People hike on the other side of the mountain, also can't remember what that is called lol. http://www.keira-anne.com/2009/09/01/island-profile-forbidden-plateau/ Between Fanny bay and there, you could hop 2 ferries and get to Hornby Island, and go to the rather interesting Tribune Bay http://hornbyisland.com/discover-hornby/beaches-parks/
  22. Some of them will have alternatives. One alternative might be contacting them via your handle on this site, then follow that with your real contact info if they will consider pursuing it further. Sometimes the references are linked to how the sp sets up her appt schedule, if she needs to book a location she can be pretty locked into that time you request. If you do not have a proven track record, you may not be able to verify you will show up and/or not cancel last minute. She may have policy in place regarding late cancellations as well. The other aspect is safety issues. So if she has alternative screening methods, those might be key areas that you will have to address.
  23. My advice is leave it on. what if it falls out of your pocket, gets lost, left behind? How to explain that ?
  24. I would just say that if it were me, I would be asking you to call the morning of as a way to actually set not just confirm the appt. My lack of response would be my answer to you that i am not available at the time after all. (i suppose this is all texting tho (keep in mind that could be the actual problem, texts not received at all?, try a phone call as backup) the other problem with texting is that you can't hear a voice message reply, which may actually tell you schedule info. For another example, i advise people to listen to the message, if it doesn't tell you that i am available, it means i am away from the phone indefinitely. if it says call back in 10-15 then i am. simple process, but no one who texts (to my landline) hears this message so they are shooting in the dark.)
  25. Loved Almighty Johnsons. If they are available: The Knick, Penny Dreadful, Banshee and The Leftovers.
